Ekiti Govt Holds Two-Day Training for Broadcasting Service Staff to Enhance Professionalism, Innovation.

 Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity development and professional excellence among public servants. This was emphasized at  the commencement of a two-day training programme for members of staff of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State.

The training, organized by the Ministry of Capacity Development and Training, commenced on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Gigmof Place, Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre, Fajuyi, Ado Ekiti.

The programme is themed “Enhancing Organisational Performance through Professional Excellence, Innovation and Service Delivery.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, commended the Ministry of Capacity Development and Training for its efforts at extending capacity building initiatives across various sectors of the state public service.

Dr. Olomojobi recalled her earlier visit to the broadcasting service, expressing delight at the significant development that had taken place thereafter. 

She described journalists and broadcasters as critical stakeholders in governance, stressing that effective communication and proper documentation were essential to ensuring that government policies, programmes and achievements are well communicated to the people.

The Head of Service also emphasized the importance of responsible journalism, particularly in an era of instant information dissemination and digital communication. She urged participants to make the best use of the training and share the knowledge gained with colleagues who were not present. She further assured the sector of the commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji administration to its development.

In his address, the Commissioner for Capacity Development and Training, Prof. Patrick Olugbenga Tedela, stated that the training was designed to strengthen the professional skills and competences of broadcasting service personnel for improved performance and service delivery.

He described the Broadcasting Service as a strategic component of the communication architecture of government and urged participants to uphold accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and professionalism in their duties.

Prof. Tedela also encouraged the broadcasters to embrace Artificial Intelligence and other emerging digital technologies while remaining vigilant against misinformation, disinformation and fake news.

He said the changing media environment required broadcasters to be versatile, innovative and technologically literate, urging participants to translate the knowledge gained from the training into improved performance at their various duty posts.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for approving the programme, noting that the initiative reflected the administration’s commitment to human capital development and institutional capacity building.

In attendance were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Capacity Development and Training, Mr. Bamidele Simeon Arowosola; General Manager, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, Mr. Olu Popoola; former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olofin; other officials of the Ministry; and Mr. Kola Ajumobi, retired Permanent Secretary and one of the key resource persons and all invited participants.
