EKITI APC ADDS FULL WEIGHT TO OYEBANJI, FAYEMI, ONI, ADEBAYO STANDS ON NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ASPIRATION, SAYS "OUR LEADERS HAVE SPOKEN, LET EVERY ASPIRANT GO TO THE FIELD AND TEST HIS/HER POLITICAL WEIGHT".

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has reaffirmed its commitment to the positions of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, immediate past Governor Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, Asiwaju Segun Oni, and the first executive governor of the state, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, on National Assembly aspirations. The party emphasizes that while endorsements may come from some quarters, and it is politically recognised, it does not preclude any aspirant from testing his or her weight with party members in a fair and transparent process, as stipulated in Article 20 of the APC Constitution.

Governor Oyebanji has maintained that he remains neutral, and no aspirant has been endorsed by him. Dr. Fayemi has also downplayed claims of endorsements, urging aspirants to focus on winning the hearts of the party members . Asiwaju Segun Oni and Otunba Adebayo have echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of respecting the party's democratic processes.

The APC in Ekiti State is committed to upholding the principles of internal democracy, as outlined in our Constitution, and ensuring that all aspirants have an equal opportunity to contest. While we do not rule out the possibility of a true consensus, we urge all contestants to respect the party's constitution and guidelines, and to refrain from misrepresenting the positions of our leaders.

Our leaders have spoken: let every aspirant go to the field and test his/her political weight, Ekiti APC insists. Where consensus doesn't work, then the direct primary option will certainly be the option, as provided for in our Constitution.

Signed:
Segun Dipe
Publicity Secretary,
All Progressives Congress, APC, Ekiti State.

ISE/ORUN APC LEADERS REJECT IMPOSITION, REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR OJUAWO.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ise/Orun convened at the party secretariat this morning to address the press on the controversy surrounding the attempted endorsement that occurred yesterday.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Femi Ajayi emphasized the need to clarify the party’s position to its faithful. He stated that the current Member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, Hon. (AVM Rtd) Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, has been performing commendably and enjoys their full support. He further noted that the party has established procedures for selecting candidates, adding that where consensus cannot be reached, a direct primary election remains the appropriate option.

In his remarks, Hon. Femi Babalola condemned what he described as the persistent imposition of candidates by Senator Adeyeye, insisting that such actions must come to an end. He stressed that Ise/Orun leaders will no longer accept the imposition of Toyin Okoro or any other candidate, recalling past instances where positions such as councillors, local government chairman, and assembly members were allegedly imposed without due consultation.

Grace Olubunmi Babalola takes over as 6th substantive Registrar of AAUA, unveils mission of precision, promptness, professionalism.

Grace Olubunmi Babalola takes over as 6th substantive Registrar of AAUA, unveils mission of precision, promptness, professionalism.
By O’shey Oluwalade

When William Shakespeare, in The Tempest, wrote, “What’s past is prologue,” he captured the essence of institutional continuity, how history influences the future. That sentiment rings profoundly at , AAUA, as a new chapter unfolds in its administrative progress.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Governing Council of the University approved the appointment of as the sixth substantive and second female Registrar of the institution. The decision followed a rigorous selection process, including an interview conducted on March 9, 2026, and the recommendation of a duly constituted panel.

With her appointment taking effect from April 1, 2026, Dr. Babalola assumed office not merely as a successor, but as a reform-minded administrator poised to redefine the culture and efficiency of the University Registry.

Since its relocation to Akungba-Akoko in 1999, AAUA has been served by five substantive registrars, each contributing to the growth and stability of the institution. From Mr. Kayode Olusa to the immediate past Registrar, , their collective efforts have laid a formidable administrative foundation.

Yet, as reminds us in Arrow of God, “A man who makes trouble for others is also making it for himself.” The reverse, too, holds true, those who build systems for others build enduring legacies for themselves. It is upon such foundations that Dr. Babalola now stands, ready to consolidate and transform.

From Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State, to institutional leadership, and born over five decades ago, the voyage of Dr. Babalola portrays a compelling narrative of diligence, intellect, and purposeful service.

Grace Olubunmi attended Olabisi Onabanjo University, where she graduated as the best graduating student in the Faculty of Law, before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. She further expanded her intellectual horizon with an MBA, an LL.M, and ultimately a Ph.D in Law, with specialization spanning security studies, humanitarian law, and the law of armed conflict.

Her professional journey bridges law, leadership, education, ethics, and institutional reform, guided by a passion for human-centred governance and excellence in public service.

Dr. Babalola is a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Corporate Administrators (FCIA), Fellow, Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria (FCIPM), Fellow, Institute of Policy Management & Leadership Development (IPMLD), Associate Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Member, Association of University Administrators, now (AHEP) United Kingdom, Member, Society for Peace and Studies and Practice, Member, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and A four-star General of Chaplains, International Institute of Charplaincy.

She is also a member of the Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA); an Alumna, Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (N.I.A.L.S); Life Member, Legal Temple Nigeria and a Life member, Bible Society of Nigeria, amongst others.

Dr. Babalola has attended and presented papers at academic conferences and leadership platforms in top global universities within and outside Nigeria, including Stratford University, United Kingdom, Manchester University, United Kingdom, Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom, Durham University, United Kingdom, Cambridge University, United Kingdom, Oxford University, United Kingdom, and Durban University of Technology, South Africa.

This exposure, no doubt, situates her within a global network of administrative best practices, strengthening AAUA’s aspiration to remain competitive in the international academic background.

Her administrative career is a study in consistency and competence. Rising through the ranks from Senior Assistant Registrar to Deputy Registrar, she has served in virtually all strategic divisions of the Registry such as Vice Chancellor’s Office, Personnel Division, Academic Affairs, Council Affairs, and Academic Staff Establishment (a one-time Endowment Officer in the Advancement Office).

Beyond administration, Dr. Babalola is a scholar and mentor, with publications in academic journals and three books, already with publishers, on Education Law, focusing on leadership and ethical governance. She is equally a spiritual leader, serving as Resident Pastor of Kings Renaissance Embassy Worldwide and Patron of the Joint Christian Campus Fellowship, AAUA.

Her multidisciplinary profile aligns with the modern demands of university administration, where law, governance, and human systems intersect.

In her inaugural speech on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola stated, “As I assume the responsibilities of this office today, I do so with deep humility and a clear awareness that institutional progress is always a relay rather than a solo race. Each generation of administrators builds upon foundations laid by those who came before them. It is in that spirit that I wish to introduce a guiding philosophy that will influence the culture and outlook of the Registry as we move forward.”

She unveiled a guiding mantra, saying, “The mantra is simple, yet powerful: ‘AAUA Registry: Precise, Prompt & Professional.’”

She emphasised that universities were not sustained by physical structures alone, stating that, “They are sustained by systems, and systems endure when there are professionals who understand that administrative precision is not mere bureaucracy; it is the foundation upon which academic credibility rests.”

She explained, “Precision reminds us that accuracy is the very soul of administration. In a university environment, a misplaced record, a flawed process, or an unclear communication can have far-reaching consequences. Our work must therefore reflect meticulous attention to detail. Promptness speaks to responsiveness. In an era in which universities operate within fast-evolving academic and regulatory environments, administrative timeliness is not merely desirable; it is indispensable.

“Professionalism defines our character. It demands integrity, respect, competence, and an unwavering commitment to service. It is the standard by which the Registry must be known within and beyond this University.”

She added, “These three principles will guide our actions, model our service culture, and reinforce the credibility of the Registry as the administrative heartbeat of this University.”

The new Registrar expressed appreciation to her predecessor, saying, “On behalf of the staff of the Registry and the wider University community, we express our profound appreciation for your years of dedicated service. Your legacy will remain inscribed not only in the records of this University, but also in the professional standards you have helped to nurture. We thank you for the years you devoted to strengthening the institutional machinery of this University. May the next chapter of your life bring you fulfilment, continued impact, and the satisfaction that comes from a legacy honourably served.”

Easter: Fayemi Urges Nigerians to Embrace Sacrifice, Resilience Amidst National Challenges.

As Christians commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State and former Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi, has called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from the core values of Easter to navigate the country’s current socio-economic and security challenges.

In an Easter message released by the Fayemi Media Office on Saturday, Fayemi extended warm greetings to the Christian faithful, noting that the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the essence of Christianity and its relevance to the Nigerian situation.

"Easter is more than a religious ritual. It is a powerful story of triumph over despair and life over death," Fayemi stated. "At a time when our nation is grappling with significant economic and security concerns, the story of Easter serves as a reminder that no situation is too bleak to be redeemed, and no challenge is too great to be overcome through unity and faith."

Addressing the prevailing hardships in the country, the former Governor urged citizens to "keep hope alive," emphasizing that the current difficulties are the "travails that precede a new birth."

He noted that the resilience of the Nigerian spirit has always been the country's greatest asset in times of adversity.

"I understand the burdens many families are carrying today due to the rising cost of living and insecurity," he said. "However, just as the sacrifice of the cross led to the joy of the resurrection, our collective sacrifices and steadfastness in the face of these challenges will eventually lead us to a more stable and prosperous Nigeria."

Fayemi further charged Christians and all Nigerians to emulate the selflessness of Christ by looking out for the "vulnerable and the sick" within their communities, explaining that this spirit defines the season.

"As we celebrate, let us reflect on how we can contribute to the peace and progress of our fatherland. Let us learn the values of tolerance, empathy, and service to others. By doing so, we ensure that the hope we celebrate today remains a living reality for every Nigerian," the statement concluded.

Fayemi wished all Christians a peaceful and joy-filled Easter celebration, praying for the continued protection and restoration of the nation.

Ekiti Guber: Breaking succession jinx 'll end era of trial by error - Oyebanji declares.
...as Ekiti indigenes in Ondo bow to deliver over 6,000 votes for his re-election.

Ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has declared that the implications of breaking the succession jinx in the State is to end the era of trial by error.

Oyebanji said that the forthcoming poll is beyond victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC), but geared towards sustaining meaningful developments in line with his administration's policy trust, strategies and priorities.

The Governor made the declaration, on Friday, in Akure, during the 2026 Ekiti Day Celebration organized in his honour by Ekiti indigenes living in Ondo State.

His words: "June 20 is not just a day of voting, it's a day that Ekiti people wants to break a jinx. You will realize that since the creation of Ekiti State, no governor has ran two terms consecutively.

"All those things have implications for development. When there is a stoppage in government, there is a change in policy, change in strategy and change in priorities of government. So, a new government that comes will want to implement his own programs.

"If by the special grace of God and by your grace, we are able to break that jinx on June 20, that means for the first time since the creation of Ekiti State 29 years ago, we will have a government that has been running for 12 years.

"The implications of that for policies is that once we go back, we know what we want to do. We have been in saddle for four years and we know what we have done and areas we need to improve upon. We don't have to do trial by error. That is the implication of June 20 for Ekiti people.

"It's not about just winning an election but the culture of 10 steps forward and 30 steps backwards must stop. I'm glad that my people in Ondo State have taken this baton that enough is enough."

While thanking Ekiti indigenes in Ondo State for the honour bestowed on him and supporting his re-election ambition, the governor pleaded with them to continue to support his counterpart in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

"He is appreciative of your support and I plead with you that you continue to support him in all his future endeavours and to also thank you for putting your resources together to organize this program. When I got here and saw that these are people that have PVCs, I told myself that my people are ready for business."

On his part, Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, represented by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Seun Osamaye,  commended Governor Oyebanji for his impactful leadership and inclusive governance in the state.

The Governor noted that an executive order has been given to all Ekiti indigenes in Ondo State with Ekiti PVCs to cast their votes, adding his victory at the poll will be overwhelming across the 16 local government areas.

Earlier in his welcome address, Coordinator of Ekiti Diaspora for BAO in Ondo State, Kehinde Ojo appreciated the governor for his dedication, vision and service in driving development in the state.

The Coordinator reaffirmed their commitment to support his re-election ambition, saying that over 6,000 Ekiti voters living in Ondo State will be mobilized for the poll.

According to him, "Your tenure has shown dedication, vision, and service. You've led with integrity and passion, uniting Ekiti State driving development, and uplifting communities. As a leader, you have fostered unity among Ekiti people, driven progress in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, empowered communities through innovative programs.

"We applaud your efforts, especially the Christmas and New Year gifts. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting your vision. We've gathered over six thousand Ekiti indigene to come out and vote for your second term again."

In their separate goodwill messages, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Oyeniyi Adebayo, Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Chief Jide Awe, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Omotosho, ALGON Chairman in Ekiti State, Hon Olusegun Olugbogi lauded the Ekiti indigenes in Ondo State for standing solidly behind the governor's second term.

Highlights of the auspicious occasion is an Award of Excellence bestowed on the governor for his development strides in the state, including cultural display, among others.

Ekiti Government Launches Statewide Livestock Vaccination Drive, Targets Zero Mortality.

Ekiti Government Launches Statewide Livestock Vaccination Drive, Targets Zero Mortality.

The Ekiti State Government, through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, has officially launched a statewide mass vaccination campaign aimed at reducing livestock mortality to near-zero levels while enhancing animal health and overall sector productivity.

The flag-off ceremony, held in Ado Ekiti, served as a strategic platform to reaffirm the government’s commitment to mitigating the impact of transboundary animal diseases.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, underscored the administration’s proactive approach to safeguarding livestock assets and strengthening sector resilience.

He noted that the vaccination exercise is a key intervention under the L-PRES framework, designed to prevent recurrent disease outbreaks that have historically eroded farmers’ incomes and disrupted value chain stability.

According to him, maintaining a healthy livestock population is critical to achieving food security, improving rural livelihoods, and sustaining agricultural growth.

Boluwade further disclosed that the campaign targets high-impact diseases, including Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), Newcastle disease, and Foot and Mouth Disease—major threats that continue to constrain livestock productivity.

In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Olayinka Adedipe, emphasized the operational importance of the initiative in reducing mortality rates and improving herd performance.

He revealed that thousands of vaccine doses have been procured through the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development to ensure comprehensive coverage across all local government areas.

Adedipe called on livestock farmers to actively collaborate with field teams, stressing that preventive healthcare remains the most cost-effective and scalable strategy for disease control and sector sustainability.

Also speaking, veterinary inoculator Dr. Ayo Ogunrinde highlighted the economic implications of unmanaged livestock diseases, noting that they significantly reduce productivity and profitability.

He reiterated that consistent vaccination protocols are essential for protecting livestock investments and improving the quality and safety of animal-derived products.

Farmers in attendance commended the initiative, describing it as timely and responsive to current sector challenges, particularly amid rising disease risks and input costs.

The vaccination exercise will be implemented statewide, with trained veterinary personnel deployed to ensure efficient administration, monitoring, and reporting.

The Ekiti State Government reaffirmed its commitment to rolling out targeted interventions that will deepen value chain integration, enhance biosecurity standards, and position the livestock sector as a key driver of economic growth and food security.

‎The Ekiti State Government on Thursday stepped up efforts to promote inclusion and early intervention for children with autism as top officials and stakeholders embarked on a symbolic awareness walk to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day.
‎The event, tagged “BAO Walk for Autism,” saw participants trek from the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) to the state Therapy Centre in Ado Ekiti, in a campaign designed to deepen public understanding of autism and reinforce support for the neurodivergent community.

‎Leading the initiative, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, disclosed that the state had recorded a major milestone in building local capacity to manage autism, revealing that 50 personnel had been trained free of charge to screen children for the condition independently.

‎Princess Agboola acknowledged the critical role of Spark A Spectrum, led by Dr Loukia Tsami of the Centre for Autism and Developmental Services, University of Houston, USA, in equipping the trained personnel with effective skills and modern techniques for autism screening.
‎According to her, while screening differs from clinical diagnosis, it plays a critical role in guiding proper placement decisions and ensuring that affected children receive appropriate treatment and support.

‎Princess Agboola noted that many children currently undergoing care at the state’s therapy centre have shown significant improvement, attributing the progress to sustained government investment and a compassionate policy direction under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
‎She described autism as a developmental condition often characterised by challenges in communication, social interaction and repetitive behaviours, stressing the need for increased awareness and professional expertise.
‎The Special Adviser further revealed that the government had sponsored a rehabilitation scientist for specialised training outside the state to strengthen the pool of experts handling autism cases in Ekiti.
‎Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to persons with disabilities, she said several initiatives had been introduced to improve their welfare and ensure inclusivity in line with the governor’s development agenda.
‎Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Niyi Adebayo, said the awareness walk had broadened his understanding of autism, particularly its sensitivity, and underscored the importance of collective support for affected children.
‎He stressed that children with autism possess great potential and can excel beyond expectations if given the right care and opportunities.
‎Mr Adebayo commended Governor Oyebanji for prioritising inclusive governance and investing in programmes that cater to vulnerable groups, adding that the administration’s shared prosperity agenda ensures that no segment of society is left behind.
‎Similarly, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Peju Babafemi, described children with autism as “little champions” capable of making meaningful contributions to society despite their challenges.
‎She noted that autism cuts across all social classes, affecting children from both privileged and less privileged backgrounds, but expressed optimism that early intervention and sustained care would continue to yield positive outcomes.
‎Describing the awareness walk as an eye-opener, Mrs Babafemi said the initiative aligns with government policies aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and promoting their full participation in society.
‎In his contribution, an Occupational Therapist, Mr Michael Akande, educated participants on therapeutic approaches and care strategies for children with autism, highlighting practical methods used in managing the condition and improving behavioural outcomes.

Ekiti deepens agricultural reform drive with SAPZ training.

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to agricultural transformation following the participation of staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and key agro-stakeholders in a train-the-trainer certification programme at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, said the initiative underscores the government’s determination to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure effective participation in the Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) programme.

Boluwade explained that the training was facilitated by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in collaboration with the Global Center on Adaptation for states selected by the African Development Bank Group under the SAPZ Phase II initiative.

According to him, the programme focused on critical areas including soil health management and seed systems development, equipping participants with tools to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve productivity.

The Commissioner added that participants engaged in practical sessions, field assessments and hands-on training in digital soil health and fertility mapping, as well as climate-resilient seed system digitisation aimed at improving traceability and adaptability.

The Commissioner said the training also emphasised the need to strengthen agricultural value chains, improve processing efficiency and create employment opportunities across the sector.

Boluwade noted that the initiative, which  aligns with the agricultural agenda of Gov. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, is expected to enhance farmers’ productivity and deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the impact of climate change on agriculture.

He said the programme would encourage the adoption of data-driven farming practices, boost agro-processing, improve investor confidence and ultimately strengthen food security in the state.

The Chief of Staff to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Niyi Adebayo, stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday while leading an autism awareness and sensitization campaign walk to commemorate the 2026 World Autism Day. He called on parents with such special children to bring them out for necessary attention stressing that there is still hope for them to live a meaningful life.

“We have therapists, teachers we have well-trained qualified personnel who can diagnose these children, examine them, and then tell us what the conditions are, and we can start working with them on how to move them towards being normal. And there are records  all over the world of children who have autism, who later became normal or near normal such that if you didn't know their history before, you may not even know they were autistic.”

While x-raying the theme for this year’s celebration, "Spark the Spectrum" Adebayo stressed the need for governments and stakeholders to move beyond mere awareness advocacy to strengthen diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services for children and adults on the spectrum.

Venite University to Collaborate with Federal University Oye-Ekiti in Driving Growth and Innovations through Partnership.

Venite University to Collaborate with Federal University Oye-Ekiti in Driving Growth and Innovations through Partnership.

A new chapter of academic collaboration and institutional synergy was initiated on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, as the management team of Venite University paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of Federal University Oye-Ekiti at the Oye-Ekiti campus. The visit, led by the Vice Chancellor of Venite University, Professor Charity O. Aremu, alongside her management team, was received by the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Joshua O. Ogunwole, and his management team in what proved to be a productive and forward looking engagement.

During the interactive session between both management teams, Professor Aremu expressed her profound appreciation to Professor Ogunwole for the warm reception accorded her team despite his demanding schedule since assuming office. She highlighted the strategic importance of the visit, noting that as a relatively young institution, Venite University is poised to learn and grow by aligning with the experience and achievements of FUOYE. According to her, the partnership would enable Venite University to build on established structures and best practices, thereby accelerating its growth and capacity for innovation.

Professor Aremu further emphasised the need for collaborative engagement, stating that Venite University seeks to “stand on the shoulders” of Federal University Oye-Ekiti in order to attain speedy remarkable progress in teaching, research, and community impact. She reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial relationship that would not only enhance institutional development but also contribute meaningfully to national educational advancement.
In his response, Professor Ogunwole warmly welcomed the visiting team and commended the initiative as a laudable step towards strengthening inter institutional cooperation. He assured the Venite delegation that the proposed areas of collaboration would be given due consideration, stressing that such partnerships align with the university’s responsibility towards community development and academic support.

In a metaphorical expression that underscored FUOYE’s philosophy of openness and shared progress, Professor Ogunwole remarked that “it is important to allow the stream to flow and not build dams, as dams cause flood and flood causes damage.” This statement reflects the university’s commitment to knowledge sharing, institutional support, and the promotion of collective growth within the academic community. He further reinforced this commitment with the closing remark, “blessed is he that scattereth,” highlighting the value of generosity in knowledge exchange and institutional collaboration.

The proposed areas of collaboration between both institutions include science and medical research, faculty staff exchange and professional relationships, joint conferences and seminars, laboratory and library development, inter institutional student engagement, as well as sports collaboration. These areas are expected to foster innovation, strengthen academic capacity, and promote holistic development across both universities.

The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts between the two management teams, symbolising a partnership built on mutual respect, shared vision, and a commitment to long term collaboration. The gesture served as a powerful reminder that beyond formal agreements, the relationship between Venite University and Federal University Oye-Ekiti is rooted in goodwill and a collective aspiration for excellence in higher education.
