Ekiti Govt Threatens Revocation of Abandoned Estate Allocations, Warns Land Encroachers.

The Ekiti State Government has directed allottees who have abandoned their plots in government residential estates across the state to commence development on or before August 30, 2026, warning that failure to comply will result in revocation of the allocations and forfeiture of title to the government.

The directive was contained in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Surveys and Geographic Information System, Prof. James Olaleye.

Olaleye said the government's attention had been drawn to the activities of hoodlums around some government residential estates in the state, noting that the affected estates include those in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere-Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti, Ijero-Ekiti and Omuo-Ekiti.

He explained that some allottees in the estates had exceeded the approved period for developing their allocated plots, leaving many sites abandoned, undeveloped and overgrown.

This, he said, had created a conducive environment for criminal elements to carry out unlawful activities, posing security concerns for both residents and the government.

Olaleye urged affected allottees to take immediate steps to develop their plots or risk losing their allocations in line with the government's land administration policies.

On the issue of encroachment on government land, the Special Adviser warned individuals encroaching on the proposed site for the new stadium along Iworoko Road, Ado-Ekiti, to desist forthwith.

He said the government had taken an inventory of existing structures on the land and warned that anyone who proceeds to erect new structures would forfeit such investments.
