Oyebanji Aide, Amb. Maxwell Olu Ajayi, Empowers 30 Youths, Women with Adire Training in Ayetoro Ekiti.

In a major boost to grassroots empowerment and youth development in Ekiti State, Ambassador Maxwell Olu Ajayi, Special Assistant to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Youth Development, has empowered 30 youths and women through a one-day intensive Adire-making training held in Ayetoro Ekiti on July 12, 2025.
The laudable initiative, facilitated by Amb. Olu-Ajayi Maxwell, is part of a broader entrepreneurship and skills acquisition drive inspired by the First Lady of Ekiti State, Her Excellency Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, whose unwavering commitment to youth and women empowerment continues to resonate across the state.
Addressing participants at the event, Otunba Dolamu Adeniyi, Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo, Special Adviser on Human Capital Development and Allied Matters and Gatekeeper of Ido-Osi, praised Ambassador Olu-Ajayi for delivering such a purposeful and people-focused initiative. Also, Hon. Adeola Lawrence, SSA to Governor Oyebanji and Mr. Yinka Ajewole, Chairman of Ayetoro Ekiti Ward 1, appreciate Amb. Olu-Ajayi Maxwell for always making a difference in the community development since his appointment and deeming it fit to always add value to people that comes in contact with him. They advised the trainees to see this initiative as a means of catching fish themselves by making use of the opportunity given.
“Ambassador Maxwell Olu Ajayi is not only fulfilling the mandate of youth development; he is giving our people hope and economic tools for survival aside other empowerment and support he has rendered since inception in office to his community. This kind of empowerment is what every community needs,” he said.
He further acknowledged the role of the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, whom he described as the visionary behind the Adire revival project. “Thousands of youths and women in Ekiti are now earning income through this skill, and we will forever be grateful to Her Excellency for her compassion and foresight,” he added. Also, he appreciate Hon. Akinlayo Kolawole, MHR for the support rendered to the youths of Ayetoro Ekiti.
Participants expressed deep appreciation to both the First Lady and Amb. Ajayi for providing a life-changing opportunity, with many vowing to establish their own Adire businesses following the training.
In his remarks, Hon. Akinsola Ojo David, Member representing Ido/Osi Constituency 2 in the Ekiti State Youth Parliament 4th Assembly thanked Amb. Olu-Ajayi Maxwell for bringing such an “educative and innovative” programme to the community. He urged the beneficiaries to put their new skills into practice and appealed for more empowerment initiatives targeting young people and local women.
Responding, Ambassador Maxwell Olu Ajayi reiterated that the training was birthed to drive local enterprise and reduce dependence on government jobs.
“This programme is a reflection of the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to people-centered governance. We are focused on turning our young people and women into wealth creators, not just job seekers,” he stated.
Other dignitaries in attendance included,Hon. Ajewole Olabode , Councillor Ayetoro Ward 1, Ayetoro Ward 1 Women Leader, Mrs Adufe Kehinde Toyin, Mr. Olayinka Ajewole, Pastor Akilaya Akinsola, Coordinator Ayetoro Ekiti Youth Vanguard and several community stakeholders.
The event concluded with hands-on demonstrations of Adire techniques and presentations of Adire materials to the group leader to aid the participants to produce more Adire for sales. This act is equally marking another milestone in Ekiti’s grassroots empowerment journey.
