Adaramodu Reaffirms Senate’s Commitment to Inclusive Governance.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, on Thursday restated the National Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance and stronger collaboration with civil society organisations.

Adaramodu, who represented the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, spoke at the Civil Society Summit held in Abuja. The event brought together stakeholders from civil society groups, advocacy networks, and development partners to discuss ways to deepen democracy, enhance civic engagement, and promote good governance in Nigeria.

Delivering Akpabio’s message, Adaramodu described civil society as a critical partner in nation-building, stressing that lawmakers recognise the sector’s role in shaping public discourse, amplifying the voices of the marginalized, and holding government accountable.

“We recognise the invaluable role civil society organisations play in shaping public discourse, advocating for the voiceless, and holding government accountable. As legislators, we are not just lawmakers but partners in progress,” he said.

The Ekiti South Senator added that the 10th Senate is committed to people-centred legislation that prioritises youth empowerment, good governance, and social justice.

According to him, civil society remains vital in deepening democratic values, protecting human rights, and driving grassroots development. He assured participants of the Senate’s readiness to provide legislative backing for reforms that would advance these goals.

The summit featured interactive sessions on electoral reforms, civic participation, social accountability, and social inclusion, with active contributions from prominent advocates, policymakers, and development partners.
