Health advancement: EKSG moves to advance digitalisation of healthcare services.
The Ekiti State Government has intensified efforts to modernise its health sector with plans to advance the digitalisation of healthcare services, a move aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening the state’s health system.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, disclosed this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of a 35-member Technical Working Group on Digital Health.
Dr Filani said, “the initiative is aimed at aligning the state with Nigeria’s national digital health architecture and improving access to quality healthcare for residents”.
He explained that the digitalisation drive would integrate electronic medical records, health registries and data exchange platforms, enabling healthcare providers to securely access patients’ medical information when needed.
According to him, some health facilities in the state already operate electronic medical record systems, noting that the new initiative would further strengthen data management and support evidence-based decision-making in the health sector.
The commissioner added that the newly inaugurated technical working group would collaborate with government institutions, private health providers and development partners to ensure effective implementation of the digital health initiative across the state.
The development is seen as another milestone in the administration of Governor , whose government has consistently prioritised healthcare delivery through strategic investments, infrastructure upgrades and innovative policies.
The governor’s commitment to building a resilient and technology-driven health system continues to reflect in ongoing reforms aimed at improving access, efficiency and quality of care across Ekiti State. With sustained progress under his leadership, the call for continuity till 2030 resonates as a pathway to consolidating these achievements and ensuring a more robust, accessible and digitally-driven healthcare system for all Ekiti people.
