'EKSUTH is one of the best teaching hospitals in Nigeria' - CMD.

The Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Prof. Kayode Olabanji, has declared the hospital as one of the best of such medical facilities in Nigeria. 

The CMD said Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji has invested heavily in the medical facility by strengthening its capacity in the area of infrastructural developments, training and welfare of medical personnel, research and medical innovations. 

Prof. Olabanji spoke on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during the interactive S'etigbo multicast, anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.

"We are very high up in the pecking order because whether you want to talk about the teaching and research in collaboration with the university, we are about one of the top state teaching hospitals in the country. 

"Even as a teaching hospital, we have attested to by the multiple accreditation teams. They are usually surprised by what they find at EKSUTH. We have the College of Nursing, which is the Government College of Nursing, which is one of the best in the country always scoring 100 per cent in the licentiate exams. The facilities going on there, CBT centre, modern lecture theatre which also will be completed. 

"The last accreditation team were surprised saying that it appears we are aspiring to become a university. That's the level of development at EKSUTH."

The CMD revealed that several projects are currently ongoing at the hospital, including the construction of a state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate more patients and provide improved healthcare services which has been called BAO Multipurpose Signature Building noting that the new facilities would reduce the need for residents to travel outside Ekiti State or even outside Nigeria in search of specialised medical treatment.

 

He commended Governor Oyebanji for his commitment to the development of the teaching hospital, noting that the administration has supported the acquisition of critical medical equipment, including a CT scan and mammography machine.

Speaking on the welfare of healthcare workers, the CMD said the state government has continued to prioritise the welfare of staff at EKSUTH adding that the hospital has intensified sensitization among its workforce to ensure that patients are treated with compassion, humility, professionalism and resilience. 

Prof. Olabanji reaffirmed the commitment of the management and staff of EKSUTH to providing quality, affordable and compassionate healthcare while continuously improving the hospital’s facilities, workforce and overall standard of service for the benefit of the people of Ekiti State and beyond.
