Agboola Inspects Special Education Facilities, Reaffirms Oyebanji’s Commitment to Inclusion.

The Ekiti State Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, has led a monitoring tour of special education facilities across the state to assess ongoing and completed infrastructure projects.

The monitoring exercise covered the Inclusive School in Ikole-Ekiti, Government Special Schools in Ikoro, Ikere and Ido-Ekiti, as well as the proposed Inclusive School in Ijero-Ekiti, currently undergoing retrofitting.

During the visit to the Ikole-Ekiti facility, Agboola demonstrated practical teaching methods for students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. She also demonstrated assessment strategies for screening children and identifying appropriate learning interventions.

The exercise recorded an emotional moment when a child who had reportedly not spoken since resumption for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session spoke to the Special Adviser during the session, eliciting excitement among the teachers and participants.

Agboola also inspected holiday projects executed across the special schools and reviewed the completed projects donated as part of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s 2025 birthday interventions.

Among the projects inspected was the BAO Vision Studio in Ikere-Ekiti, a 21st-century compliant music studio established to nurture and promote the talents of children with visual impairment, many of whom have been identified as gifted singers.

The Special Adviser reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyebanji administration to promoting inclusive education and creating an environment where children with special needs can learn, develop their abilities and contribute meaningfully to society.

She charged teachers and other members of staff in the special schools to remain diligent, compassionate and professional in the discharge of their duties, stressing the need for patience and appropriate teaching approaches when working with children with special educational needs.

Agboola said the monitoring exercise was part of the government’s efforts to ensure that infrastructure and other interventions in special education facilities were properly implemented and effectively utilised for the benefit of the students.
