EKITI GOVT. APPROVES IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION OF RICE TO THE VULNERABLES AS PALLIATIVE FOR REMOVAL OF FUEL SUBSIDY.
Ekiti State Government has approved the immediate release and distribution of rice to the needy in the State as part of palliative materials to cushion the effect of removal of subsidy on price of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol.
The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who made this known in Ado Ekiti while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the State Executive Council, explained that the development would be the first tranche of similar interventions for the people.
Stressing that the distribution of the palliative materials was devoid of political consideration, the Commissioner emphasized that the focus is to provide succor to the vulnerable in the State.
He listed the category of people that would benefit from the largesse to include the aged, widows, pensioners, junior civil servants, iyalojas and members of the Road Transport Unions.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun was accompanied at the briefing by the State Commissioner for Agric and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment, Hon. Yemisi Ayokunle and Special Adviser on Rural Mobilization, Mrs Oluremi Ajayi.
