In a resolute show of commitment, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling his constitutional obligations within the Ministry of Interior. Tunji-Ojo's pledge comes as he takes the helm of the ministry and assumes responsibility for its various agencies.

The minister's unwavering resolve was evident during his address to the heads of agencies falling under the Ministry's purview. His remarks encapsulated a sense of purpose and determination to lead with effectiveness.

As part of the swearing-in ceremony conducted by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday, Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo, along with 45 other ministers, officially assumed their roles. Tunji-Ojo's first order of business was to convene a meeting with the ministry's staff to set the tone for his tenure.

During this maiden meeting on Monday, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of synergy among the paramilitary service chiefs under the ministry's umbrella. He underscored the significance of carrying out their responsibilities in alignment with the law. His statement reflected his proactive leadership approach: "I don't lead from the back; I lead from the front."

Highlighting the broad-reaching impact of the ministry's work, Tunji-Ojo stressed his commitment to enacting meaningful change and achieving tangible results. He implored the staff for their cooperation, acknowledging the crucial role they play in collectively achieving the ministry's objectives.

Furthermore, the minister asserted that accountability would be a cornerstone of his leadership. While expressing his intent to ensure the ministry met its expectations and objectives, Tunji-Ojo made it clear that he would not hesitate to hold the paramilitary chiefs accountable for their duties. He articulated a principle of shared responsibility: "Just as Mr. President will hold me accountable... I will hold you responsible for anything that goes wrong."

In response, Dr. Oluwatoyi Akinlade, the permanent secretary of the ministry, conveyed her excitement about Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo's designation to the ministry. She extended the assurance of full support from the ministry's personnel.

Notable figures present at the meeting included Haliru Nababa, Controller General of Corrections; Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola, Acting Comptroller General of Immigration; Abdulganiyu Jaji, Controller General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service; and Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
