The Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Ado-Ekiti local government chapter has shown their profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for appointing Dr(Mrs) Habibat Omolara Adubiaro as Secretary to State Government(SSG)

The Executives of SCIA led by their Chairman, Alfa Tiamiyu Olalere paid the SSG a congratulatory visit on Thursday.  

The council through its chairman said the gov has impressed Muslims in Ekiti state with Dr. Adubiaro's appointment as SSG. He described the appointment of the University Don as a great favour done muslim community in Ekiti state.

"We Muslims in Ekiti state especially in Ado-Ekiti local government under aegis of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs are extremely grateful to the Governor for honouring us with one of the bigger positions in government.  The Governor has shown that he is a man of his word.

"We are also grateful that the gov. not only give us a Muslim but a credible one. We have known Dr. Adubiaro over the years as a trustworthy person who has been representing Islam very well"

The cleric furthered by praying for the successful tenure of Governor Oyebanji in office.

"The only thing we Muslims can only do to appreciate the Governor is to pray for him. He shall succeed in office"

Responding, she thanked the Muslim council for the courtesy visit and reiterated her commitment to always represent well the interest of islam. She stated further that God has always come first in everything she does.

Dr. Adubiaro assured them that she would not disappoint them and always be up to task in her responsibilities. 

"I am extremely grateful for your courtesy visit. I have not for once disappoint you. During my first appointment, I took some steps in the interest of Muslims.

"Anywhere I find myself, I always put God first. Only God can reward someone's efforts. 

"Be rest assured that I will represent you well. I won't let you down"

2023: Tinubu Support Group (CBA) Inaugurated In Ekiti State.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, a support group working to actualise the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Senator  Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidency, know as City Boy Ambassadors (CBA), has inaugurated its State and Local Government Coordinators in the states.

Deputy National DG, Alhaji Dada ADELEKE, while performing the inauguration, charged the State and LGAs Coordinators to properly, under the vision and mission of the socio-political group, harmonize their activities with other interest groups back in their various states.
The event that took place in the state capital Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, was well attended by members of the group from the 16 LGAs and towns in the Sate.

Senator Representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele MOB, stressed that there were silent majority of followers at the grassroot, hence, he charged the Coordinators to go and deepen activities of the group at their various wards and Council Areas to ensure victory for the party.

In his brief acceptance speech, the State Director, Amb. Yinka Akinlua, and National General Secretary, Engr. Rasheed Adewumi while, appreciating all the dignitaries of APC and other supporters of the party that graced the occasion, urged the executives to shun politics of sentiment and work with all their hearts for the victory of All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Senator  Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidency.
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were: Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele MOB, Pharm Kolapo Joshua Olatunde, NLC Chairman Ekiti State, Hon Adebayo Morakinyo, CEO D-BLISS TIT HOTEL, Ado-Ekiti, Hon. Deji Adesokan JARU, Chief Mrs. Helen Adesida, Mr Oluwole Bamidele Eleka.

Women Senior Civil Servants seek Ekiti First Lady's support on possible Collaboration on Career Development, Mentorship. 
Top women civil servants in Ekiti State, under the auspices of Women in Management, have visited the wife of the Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji and rubbed minds with her on their activities in the state.

According to the coordinator of the group, Mrs. Oluyemi Kayode Ojo, members are drawn  from various cadres in the civil service, with the multifaceted  objective of providing mentorship for junior colleagues and young boys and girls in schools.

 Ojo, a Permanent Secretary,  pointed out that as a group of women in management cadre in Ekiti civil service, the major focus of Women in Management is to  serve as the mother hen for their junior colleagues, by protecting their interest as well as giving them career mentorship. 

As parts of their objectives, the coordinator also stated that Women in Management often goes beyond civil service by providing guidance to young girls in school, especially in the area of career and hygiene. 

While reaffirming their dedication to the Biodun Oyebanji's-led administration, the group expressed their readiness to work with the office of the First Lady to strengthen their objectives within and outside the civil service. 

"Our program is focused not only on our members but are extended to officers at the lower cadre. We also go extra mile to impact on young boys and girls in schools in the area of career development, provision of sanitary items and offering of educative tips on personal hygiene, " she said.

Responding, the First Lady, Dr. Oyebanji, said she was excited listening to some of the beautiful objectives and achievements of Women in Management, especially as it concerns professionalism,  humanitarian services and  mentorship. She also gave the group express assurance of possible collaboration  in a bid to ensure further development in the state.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on National Youths Service Corps Members in the LGA to abide by traffic rules and regulations and to helps in enlighten Nigerians on road safety rules. 

Commander I Nwokeji, the Public Enlightenment Officer, Ihiala LGA, Anambra, made the call during the special enlightenment programme to mark this year 2022 national remembrance day of accident victim.

Nwokeji said that road safety is everybody’s business and should not be left only for traffic managers to handle.
"There is no vocabulary for safety, therefore, its important to everybody not narrow to Road safety Corp."

Earlier, he urged the jointly National Youth Service Community Developments Service Groups, namely:(Medical and Health, ICT and FRSC) Corps Members to spread and enlighten Nigerians on the benefit of Road safety.

He said, "education is vital for people of all ages. As a responsible citizen, you should be aware of each and every road safety rules. Observation is the key skill you need in ensuring road safety. As Corps Members Safety education should begins right from your various Primary Place of Assignments. By obeying safety rules and regulations, you can save yourself and others on the road, he explained."

Speaking on the precautions when plying roads to avoid crash and accident Nwokeji said, " it is better to stay on the left side of the road at all times. When you are changing lanes, signal others by means of hand signals and direction indicators.

"He added that by setting permissible speed limit, someone will be able to control traffic and thus ensure public road safety. Police officials are now making use of automated machines to track the speed of vehicles. And they can impose penalty on people who are violating the speed limit.

"In addition to this, seat belts should be made compulsory for ensuring Public road safety. You can persuade people's using two wheelers to use helmets to avoid unwanted head injuries, he explained."

He described the major causes of Accident on the road as human factors.
He said, "before taking vehicle to the road, it is necessary for you to check the condition of your vehicles and motorcycle. You should check out the petrol/diesel limit, bald tyres, glass wipers etc. carefully. But because of our nonchalant attitude we do things in the way we likes that later implicate others and cause damages."

In appreciation, the Corps members promise to utilise the skills gained in the lectures to sensitize students and people's in their various primary place of assignments.

The women wing of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ekiti State Chapter, otherwise known as Women Commission, has pledged their support for the administration of Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. 

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji,  in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, the Chairperson of TUC’s Women Commission, Comrade Olukemi Ogundele said the union members are solidly behind the government of the day and will always make themselves available anytime the First Lady call them out for support.
She said, "We are here for a few reasons; to congratulate you on the victory of your husband at the poll, the inauguration that follows and to also identify and celebrate with you your first birthday  in office. Another reason while we are here is to assure Her Excellency that the entire women in the Trade Union Congress, Ekiti State Council are solidly in support of your husband’s administration and policies of government  for the betterment of the good people and the entire Ekiti women in particular", she stressed.

According to the union leader, the labour has always made themselves relevant at various programs such as, International Day of the Girl Child, international women's day, various programs against indiscipline in the society and different seminars and workshops, both locally and abroad.

She therefore enjoined the present administration to prioritize the welfare of workers in the state for optimal commitment to work.

Responding, Dr. Oyebanji appreciated the team for having the love of the people at heart, which informed  their promise to support the present administration to strengthen development in the state.

"We have a lot to do together in terms of collaborative effort towards having a better Ekiti State. There is a lot of decadence and indiscipline that are needed to be reduced to the barest minimum in our society and we shall not hesitate to engage strategic partners like you in this regard", Dr. Oyebanji added.

Ekiti First Lady Reads Riot Act to Rapists, Promoters of Gender-Based Violence.
Anyone caught engaged in gender-based violence in Ekiti State will not be spared irrespective of his or her status and whatever circumstances, the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has announced.

Oyebanji made the pronouncement in Ado-Ekiti while receiving members of the State Sexual Assualt Referral Centres in her office.

According to the First Lady, there are tendencies for people to engage in rape and assault now because of the belief that the fight against such immoral behaviour had ended with Erelu Bisi Fayemi's exit from office.  

She however emphasised that the laws were still in force and operational, adding that the present administration will frown at any attempt by any individual or group to promote indecent behaviour in the society.

Earlier, the coordinator, Ekiti State Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Barrister Rita Ilevbare had sought government's support for aggressive sensitization of law enforcement agencies on their commitment to the referral centres.

In a similar development, Dr. Oyebanji has promised to collaborate with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), in achieving their desired goals in the area of care-giving and issues relating to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Gender-Based Violence and other issues that are inimical to the future of the girl child as well as women development.

The President of the association in Ekiti State, Dr. Esther Akinsooto took the wife of the governor through various activities the association had embarked upon and still pushing to better the lots of women and children. 

Dr. Akinsooto emphasized the need for the present administration to carry the association along so that they would be on the same page in addressing women and children health challenges.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to creating an enabling environment for investment to thrive.

The Governor, who stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday at a one-day panel review meeting on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the proposed integrated agricultural project within Iyemero Agricultural Corridor noted the assurance that the project would take cognizance of  safety of the environment.

While commending the team for embarking on the panel review,  Governor Oyebanji commended the management FMS Limited and assured them that his government would support their activities because it would be in the best interest of the people of Ekiti.

He noted that the project would promote aggressive development of the state through creation of jobs, improvement in the economy as well as place Ekiti on the national map of producing states in Nigeria.

“Coming today underscores the importance I attach to this project and because I’m so close to the team, I know that from day one they have placed all safety nets to this project. I’m sure its going to comply with expertise with respect to very good and safe environment for plants and for the inhabitants.

“And I must commend your team for coming to do this panel review and I hope this will be concluded in the shortest possible time. As a government, we will back FMS Farms, we will put our weight behind it because it is in our interest as a state and as a people to get this done.

“I’ve always believed that the  road to prosperity is productivity. If the people are productive, the economy will change. One day, money will stop coming from Abuja, that is the truth and every discerning state must start to prepare for it and the road to that is what we are doing today. We have other investors that are coming up, but FMS limited is as at the forefront and we will support them.

Earlier, the Minister of Environment, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulahi, confirmed that President Mohammadu  Buhari acknowledged the contribution of Ekiti State to food security in the country. He highlighted the importance of the integrated agricultural sector with particular concern to safety of the environment especially in this era of climate change.

The Minister, who was represented by a Director in the Ministry, Dr Musa Gashau, revealed that the project fell under agricultural rural development sector of the economy which is expected to increase the agricultural value chain and food security in the country as well as fight the menace of climate change and make Ekiti become one of the agricultural destinations in the country.

Also at the event were the Managing Director /Chief Executive of FMS Farms limited, Bunmi Akingba, representative of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Adelusi Adeyemi; Chairman, Ikole Local Government, Mr Sola Olominu; Chairman, Ajoni LCDA, Prince Micheal Ogungbemi and stakeholders from the host community, Iyemero Ekiti in Ikole local government area.
