Oyebanji's second term will usher greater level of prosperity, peace in Ekiti - Ojudu, Oyebode.

Oyebanji's second term will usher greater level of prosperity, peace in Ekiti - Ojudu, Oyebode.

A former Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and the Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Yinka Oyebode, on Tuesday, said the second term administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji will usher in a greater level of prosperity, peace, development and togetherness.

They stated this in Ado-Ekiti during the interactive S'etigbo multicast anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.

Ojudu, who doubles as the Co-Chairman of the state's 30th creation anniversary committee, said the Oyebanji administration is on the path of building a wealthy Ekiti State that would be the pride of everyone.

His words: "We have come a long way and quite a lot has happened. In terms of physical development, Ekiti has really expanded.

"In terms of education, we keep going and the shortcomings I can see is that we aren't creating enough wealth to take care of our people. That's why the government said things need to change and the need to have enterprise to create wealth. That is what we are looking forward to in the future.

"We want a situation whereby we can transform our agricultural know-how to wealth, transform our education know-how to wealth, we can then go into the area of ICT to create a lot of wealth as well, so also in tourism.

"The governor said we must explore all of these in the next 30 years to build Ekiti State that will be the pride of everyone and that will be wealthy to take care of the needs of everybody. We want to see how we can banish poverty out of this state by tapping on our resources."

On his part, the Chief Press Secretary highlighted the various developmental strides of Governor Oyebanji assuring that the governor is fully committed to partnering the masses to accelerate development across all the strata of the state's economy in his second term.

According to him, "in the last 30 years, we have seen a lot of developments in the state and also in the last four years under the Oyebanji's administration, we can see the rapid all-round developments that have taken place.

"It is not rocket science and the governor just went to work from day one by completing all existing projects that were left by previous administrations. He also focused his energy in laying a solid foundation for the development of the state vis a vis road construction, vis a vis electrification project and as we talk today, not less than about 25 communities have been reconnected to the national grid who have been hitherto without power supply for almost 15-20 years.

"In addition to that, no fewer than 400km of inter-city and intra-city roads have been constructed in the space of the last four years. Add to that, almost 200km of rural-market roads have been constructed with the World Bank partnership program under RAAMP to ease farm-market transportation.

"To add to that is the comprehensive renovation of about 110 primary healthcare centres, comprehensive renovation of about 11 general hospitals and even the teaching hospital that have been equipped with state-of-the-art. Currently at the teaching hospital, we already have the 80-bedded project that is already completed and ready for commissioning and for the use by the citizens.

"In the area of education, about 900 primary schools are comprehensively renovated, about 215 secondary schools comprehensively renovated and for the first time, the government has increased subvention to these institutions twice so that they can be self-sustaining and subvention even to youth-based organisations to empower them.

"In addition to that is the agric investment that the government is doing where about 5,000 youths have been brought in the agric business. The government supports in terms of land clearing, subsidised seedlings and off-taking.

"The government is using agric to launch industrialisation. The government is also attracting investors in the state in the agric sector to crash the price of food, employing our youths and industrialising the state.

"In the last four years, the IGR has increased, the spending power of an average citizen has increased because there is stability in government, regular payments of salaries and pensions. A general posture of peace and prosperity has pervaded the state.

"The work is ongoing despite the fact we are in a transition period. In the second term of Governor Oyebanji, we are going to experience a greater level of prosperity, peace, development and togetherness. This is a government that does development with the people."
