Response to the Viral Claim Attributed to Hon Rotimi Amaechi.

Response to the Viral Claim Attributed to Hon Rotimi Amaechi.

We address the alleged claim by Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State, that he and our principal, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State, founded the new ADC coalition before expanding it to include others.

Despite efforts to verify this statement, which has gained traction on social and digital media, we have found no credible evidence to support it. No video of Hon. Amaechi making these claims or reports from reputable media organisations has been located.

In an era where fabricated or distorted statements are often attributed to public figures for malicious purposes, we are cautious about engaging with potentially manufactured controversies designed to provoke or profit. It is possible that Hon. Amaechi did not make the statement or was misquoted.

We unequivocally state that these claims lack any basis. Dr. Fayemi remains a committed member and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State. At various public forums in Ekiti and nationwide, he has consistently affirmed his dedication to the APC, working to address its challenges and advance its progressive ideals for Nigeria. Nothing has changed.

Furthermore, Dr. Fayemi has publicly endorsed His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State, for re-election, clearly supporting his candidacy for the APC gubernatorial ticket. This underscores his loyalty to the APC.

We also wish to note that Dr Fayemi is a politician and thought leader with friends and associates that span political, religious, ethnic and regional divides. And from time to time, he is part of conversations about the Nigeria project, how to deepen our fledgling democracy, make the country work for the greater good of all and overcome its numerous challenges.

These conversations, however, do not amount to defections or leaving the APC. Dr Fayemi has the courage to pursue his convictions. If he were to leave the APC, he would make it public and not require a third party to do so. We state again, maybe for the umpteenth time: Dr Fayemi remains a principal member of the APC and is fully behind the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

We understand that the constant speculation about his party affiliation may stem from perceived limited public visibility, but that is because he has been actively engaged as a visiting professor at King's College London and as the founder of Amandla Institute. Even then, while this may be true at the national level, it’s not so at the local level in Ekiti State, where he has been present at several leadership caucus meetings of the APC and publicly endorsed the Governor to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

We urge the public to treat any news concerning Dr. Fayemi with caution, particularly when it originates solely from social media.

Agbeyewa Farms Inspires Adventist Men’s Organization with Visionary Call to Cassava Revolution.

Agbeyewa Farms Inspires Adventist Men’s Organization with Visionary Call to Cassava Revolution.

Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo – The Adventist Men’s Organization (AMO) convention came alive with energy and inspiration as Mr. Oska Seyi Aiyeleso, Managing Director/CEO of Agbeyewa Farms, delivered a stirring presentation that blended hard facts, big dreams, and a rallying call to action. He also paid tribute to Agbeyewa Farms’ Chairman, Mr. John Olajide, whose visionary leadership has created jobs, strengthened rural economies, and transformed lives across communities.

Addressing a packed audience of AMO members at Babcock University, Mr. Aiyeleso urged participants to view cassava farming not merely as an agricultural venture, but as a pathway to wealth creation, employment generation, and national economic renewal.

He described Mr. Olajide’s unwavering belief in the promise of Nigeria’s cassava revolution as the driving force behind Agbeyewa Farms’ success, encouraging participants to emulate his deep-rooted patriotism and relentless commitment to achieving sustainable development through agriculture.

“His vision that agriculture can empower people, uplift communities, and reposition Nigeria as a force in global food systems continues to inspire all of us,” Aiyeleso said. He added, the chairman has only one vision, create jobs, more jobs and more jobs.

In his presentation, the MD described cassava as “more than a crop – it’s a catalyst for the transformation. He stressed that each hectare planted holds the potential to create jobs, feed communities, and lift families out of poverty – a statement that drew nods of agreement from the audience.

With palpable pride, the MD recounted Agbeyewa Farms’ remarkable growth since they commenced cassava cultivation in Ekiti State expanding from 102 hectares in her 1st year ( 2022) to over 5,000 hectares under cultivation today. He revealed that the company is on track to achieve an ambitious target of 10,000 hectares by 2026—a trajectory he credited to strategic planning and the strength of partnerships in advancing agricultural transformation.

He explained that the farm’s growth is more than a statistic; it represents thousands of livelihoods touched, communities empowered, and a bold blueprint for agricultural transformation in Nigeria.

A key highlight of his address was the Agbeyewa Outgrower Scheme – a proven, partnership-driven model enabling local farmers, cooperatives, and agripreneurs to achieve better yields, higher incomes, and sustainable growth.

Mr. Aiyeleso invited AMO members to join the cooperative and outgrower scheme, promising access to discounted but quality cassava stems, training, good agronomic practices, and an assured market. “We are not just in the business of planting cassava; we are in the business of planting hope, opportunity, and prosperity,” he said to resounding applause.

The Agbeyewa exhibition stand became a focal point of the convention, attracting a stream of visitors eager to learn about cassava stem varieties, root quality, and the farm’s integrated value chain.

The convention leaders lauded Agbeyewa Farms for its remarkable impact in the agricultural sector, praising its blend of innovation, professionalism, and community spirit. The AMO convention underscored Agbeyewa Farms’ unwavering commitment to partnership, innovation, and nation-building — positioning the company as a driving force in Nigeria’s agricultural future.

Ekiti 2026: 130 Pan Yoruba groups adopt Gov Oyebanji.

Ekiti 2026: 130 Pan Yoruba groups adopt Gov Oyebanji.

130 Pan Yoruba groups have adopted the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office. The meeting held under the auspices of Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements, (AYDM), the largest coalition of civil society, community-based and Pan Yoruba groups in the old Western Region including Kogi, Kwara and some parts of Delta and Edo States.

The AYDM described Oyebanji as a beacon of hope not just for Ekiti State but for the entire Yoruba Nation and Nigeria at large.

The Guest Speaker, a journalist Mr Adewale Adeoye said it was important for organisations to put themselves together for a common political and economic focus. He said he was impressed that people are organising themselves into non-informal political blocs to chat a common future. He said the South West is confronted with the structure of the Nigerian state which impedes full realisation of the People’s  future. He said there are challenges of food insecurity and receding morality.

He called on the people to assert themselves. He said he was impressed by the developments in Ekiti State adding that the state represents a striking example for other states to follow.

‘He has made us proud in Yorubaland. He epitomises Omoluabi. He stands tall among his peers. His support for regional integration is remarkable. He has built milestones in education, road construction, public health, agriculture and transparency in Governance’ the group said.

Over 1000 people attended the event held in Lagos. In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the General Secretary and leaders of the participating groups, the Alliance said elections in any part of Yoruba indigenous territories is of critical importance to all residents in the old Western Region including states where Yoruba are indigenous.

As part of its decisions after the two-day conference, the AYDM set up a South West Election Working Group, (EWOG) that would begin door-to-door campaign across Ekiti State once the electoral umpire blows the whistle for the campaign.

‘We adopt the Governor of Ekiti State to strengthen a uniform political outlook of the people that in the South West. It is in the strategic interest of a people with one history, one culture and one civilisation to have a uniform political aspiration. It strengthens regional integration and sustainable development,’ the AYDM said in the statement signed by its General Secretary Popoola Ajayi on behalf of the coalition.

The AYDM said the platform has brought together the most potent socio-cultural and community-based groups across the Old Western Region to speak with one voice for a people with shared history, blood-bound relationship and common aspiration.

‘The adoption will help mobilise people who live in Ekiti and those who live outside Ekiti but register in Ekiti State to vote massively for Oyebanji in the next gubernatorial election,’ the AYDM said.

The group stated that elections are also a critical definition of ancestral territories and that elections anywhere in the Old Western Region is like a cobweb in which no single thread can be pulled without affecting the whole network. It said the entire humanity in the old Western Region should show keen interest in any of the Yoruba States in the interest of prosperity and development in the region.

The AYDM said the South West would be a better place with a unified development possible only when the region has a political party with a common agenda. AYDM said historically, the people in these territories have lived together for centuries, in time of war and in times of peace and that at a point in Nigerian history, the people were grouped into the old Western Region excluding Kwara and Kogi states amidst protests by people living in these territories.

Its said it would will mobilise, conscientise and educate the people in villages and towns; dwellers of the mountains, the plains and open fields, including seafarers and occupants of the seashores in order to ensure the emergence of credible, honest and dedicated leaders;

That the AYDM is concerned about future elections bearing in mind that the people cannot continue to be cannon folders but should take active play active and decisive role in shaping their own future, realising that the next election in the South West is the Ekiti election.

Food Security: OSV Hails Oyebanji Over Launch of ‘Ounje Ekiti’, ‘Ilu Eye’ Hubs.

Food Security: OSV Hails Oyebanji Over Launch of ‘Ounje Ekiti’, ‘Ilu Eye’ Hubs.
…Says Initiative Will Tackle Hunger, End Poverty.

A grassroots mobilisation group, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV), has commended the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for his bold steps towards tackling food insecurity and inflation in the state.

The group gave the commendation shortly after the official commissioning of the “Ounje Ekiti Retail Outlet” and “Ilu Eye Aggregation Hub” on Tuesday, describing the move as a strategic milestone in the state’s war against hunger and poverty.

Governor Oyebanji, at the commissioning, explained that the initiative stemmed from the recommendations of the State’s Food Security Committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security.

He disclosed that over 715 metric tons of white beans, 239.167 metric tons of paddy rice, 101.54 metric tons of maize, and 1,716 bags of garri had already been aggregated from local farmers within the state, signalling a boost for local production and farmer empowerment.

According to the Governor, the Ilu Eye Aggregation Hub is a registered company set up to procure and store farm produce within the state, while the Ounje Ekiti Retail Outlet serves as a government-backed retail system where food is made available to residents at subsidised rates.

The initiative also aims to curb post-harvest losses which, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), account for a staggering N3.5 trillion in annual waste across Nigeria—an amount that overshadows the nation’s five-year agricultural budget allocation.

OSV applauded the government’s foresight in setting up such facilities, describing the investment in storage, processing, and aggregation as “a legacy-making intervention” capable of rewriting the state’s food economy narrative.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Convener, HC Ade, called for more robust and sustained budgetary allocation to the agricultural sector. He urged the government to replicate the initiative across all 16 Local Government Areas and 28 Local Council Development Areas in Ekiti State.

“It is in the seamless continuation of laudable programmes like this that we can banish poverty from our state,” he said.

OSV further encouraged citizens, retailers, and other stakeholders to embrace the initiative wholeheartedly, noting that the future of Ekiti lies in political stability and the continuity of people-focused policies such as Oyebanji’s food security agenda.
