The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has installed the new Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of the State, Oba Bankole Adesesan Ilugbusi, with a passionate plea to traditional rulers to key into his administrations prioritised development agenda at the grassroots level. 

The governor clarified that propelling his rural development agenda will vividly manifest when the royal fathers aggressively pursue unity, fairness and security in their respective domains. 



Governor Oyebanji gave the charge  in Esun Ekiti, on Saturday, while presenting the instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the new royal father of the community, after ascending the throne of his forebears.

The new monarch, Oba Ilugbusi, is from Atiba Royal Dynasty of Esun Ekiti, which the stool  became vacant, following the demise of Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen along Ipao-Oke Ako-Irele road in 2024.

Addressing the ecstatic community members,  Oyebanji, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, condoled with the town on the abrupt demise of the immediate past monarch, Oba Ogunsakin.

The governor said the controversial and agonizing circumstances under which Oba Ogunsakin was killed was heart-rending and sad, praying to God to grant the community the fortitude to bear the loss of the charismatic traditional ruler.

Speaking about ascendancy to the traditional stool, Governor Oyebanji maintained that  he neither interfered in the selection process, nor imposed any candidate on the town, saying maintaining neutrality in filling vacant positions remains the hallmark of his government.

He clarified further that the approval of the new Elesun was undertaken in accordance with the customs and traditions of the kingdom, promising to work with the monarch to bring development to Esun axis by tackling the challenges of insecurity confronting around environs.

“Kabiyesi, you are now the prescribed authority in Esun Ekiti, don’t make anybody your enemy. Work with all your subjects to make meaningful development in this town. I also plead with all the chiefs to respect the authority of the new monarch. Don’t disrespect him.

“I know that the traditional rulers play significant roles in sustaining and maintaining our culture and traditions. I want you to work with my government to ensure that all our towns are effectively secured and developed.

“We have a rural policy that we are championing, I want you to support us, so that this can gain grounds at the grassroots”, Oyebanji stated .

 In his submission at the colourful ceremony, the Commissioner for chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Hon. Ojo Atibioke, commended Governor Oyebanji for being steadfast in his commitment to fill any vacant stool in the state within a spate of two years. 

Atibioke, who urged the monarch to always consult widely with his subjects  before taking critical decisions, described the process leading to the emergence of the monarch as transparent and devoid of imposition.

The commissioner commended the town for appointing a new king without any bad blood and rancour, saying this further testified to the fact that Emure people are united and development- driven.

“You may not know the import of what you are doing today, some towns have not been able to fill such vacancies for a period of 25 years. This showed that you are united. I want all of you to cooperate with the Royal Majesty for his reign to bring successes and blessings to his domain”.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Ilugbusi, saluted the state government and the kingmakers for being painstaking and transparent in the selection process, assuring that he will work assiduously to attract laudable projects to the town.

Oba Ilugbusi, who promised to work zealously to unite the town and form a strong synergy with the government , stated that he was thrilled that he emergence symbolized equity, fairness and justice, which makes his acceptance more electrifying.

The monarch assured his subjects that he will.make a remarkable difference in their lives, by pursuing unity of purpose and development among , saying nobody will be alienated nor sidelined in his development projects. 

“During my reign, Esun Ekiti will experience peace and progress. The welfare, wellness and wellbeing of every indigene will be our top priority, irrespective of religious belief , social.or cultural backgrounds, or political affiliation.

“Esun Ekiti Development Agenda with emphasis on Youth development will be initiated. We will focus on building a strong nexus among the various quarters in the town, revitalizing the mutual love and peaceful coexistence upon  which our town was founded”.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated distinguished pharmacist and former Minister of Health, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi on his 85th birthday.

The Governor in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, hailed Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi for his sterling contribution to the development of Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

The Governor described Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi, who is the  Founder of Juli Pharmacy, the first publicly quoted indigenous pharmaceutical company on the Nigeria Stocks Exchange (NSE),  as one of the brightest stars from Ekiti who has made a great impact in business, healthcare delivery, public service and human capital development.



He hailed the celebrant's undying love for Ekiti and for always making his time, resources, expertise and counsel available for his dear state through his dynamic  leadership of groups such as Igbimo Ure Ekiti and Ekiti Parapo among others. 

The Governor recalled Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi's pivotal role in the Ekiti State COVID-19 Rapid Response Mobilization Committee, where he served as the Chairman. He said the State was able to curtail the spread of the deadly pandemic, owing to Adeluyi- Adelusi’s effective leadership of the committee. 

Governor Oyebanji said Ekiti is lucky to provide an eminent personality like Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi, describing him as a precious asset whose value cannot be quantified.

The Governor prayed for long life and sound health for the celebrant wishing him for fruitful years of service to his fatherland and to humanity. 

“On behalf of the Government and good people, I wish this illustrious son of the Land of Honour,  a man of distinction and one of our highly revered leaders, Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi a happy birthday. We pray that God Almighty increases his joy, peace and strength, as he continues to serve our dear state, nation and humanity”, the Governor added.

The Ekiti State Labour Market Information System (LMIS ) platform will open for interested job seekers in the State on Monday, 4th August, 2025.

The State Commissioner for Wealth Creation , Otunba Kayode Fasae who  made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said the platform  represents a bold vision for economic transformation, connecting the state's talent ecosystem through cutting-edge technology and human-centred design. 

According to him, the LMIS provides comprehensive labour market intelligence that empowers government agencies, policymakers, and business leaders with real-time data on employment trends, skills gaps, and economic indicators.

Fasae explained that in order to ensure that economic growth in Ekiti State is inclusive, sustainable, and driven by data-informed decision making  , Government has crafted every feature  on the platform– from detailed job profiles and AI enhanced resume builders to career planning tools and analytics dashboards.


He stated that: "whether you're a recent graduate exploring career possibilities, an employer seeking skilled professionals, a training institution looking to align your curricula with market demands, or a career counsellor guiding the next generation, this new  platform serves as a gateway to meaningful opportunities and strategic insights."

(AVM Rtd) Ojuawo Rufus Adeniyi, the Honorable Member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, Agirilala II, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and on the annual celebration of Odun Oba.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele, has congratulated the Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adejimi Adu Alagbado, Agirilala II, on his appointment as Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Obas.

The Vice-Chancellor described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Kabiyesi’s qualities of leadership, wisdom, and commitment to the peace and unity of Ekiti State.

According to Prof. Ayodele, “Your Majesty, your emergence as Chairman is a testament to the respect and trust you have earned over the years. You have continued to exemplify the true essence of royal fatherhood as a symbol of peace and unity.”

He expressed confidence that the Ogoga’s tenure would foster greater cohesion, understanding, and development among traditional rulers in the state.

The Vice-Chancellor also thanked the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for the confidence reposed in the Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom.

The Management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has celebrated the outstanding feat of one of its graduates, Ajao Emmanuel Kayode, who recently bagged the prestigious President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honour Award for the 2024/2025 service year.

Ajao, a graduate of Mathematics from the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education Study Centre affiliated with EKSU, was honoured for his exemplary service, dedication, and impactful contributions during his one-year mandatory national service.

The award, presented by the Presidency, came with juicy benefits, including automatic employment in the Federal Civil Service, a fully-funded doctoral scholarship, and a cash prize of ₦250,000.

According to the university, the recognition underscores EKSU’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also socially responsible, innovative, and globally competitive.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, described the award as a testament to the quality of the institution’s graduates and the relevance of its academic and moral training.

He lauded Ajao for being a worthy ambassador of the university and urged current and prospective students to emulate his dedication to service and excellence.

In a collaborative effort to make healthcare accessible to his constituents, Hon. (AVM Rtd) Ojuawo Rufus Adeniyi, the Honorable Member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, in partnership with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Ekiti State, Thursday rolled out a free medical outreach programme in Ise/Orun Local Government Area at Arinjale Palace, Ise Ekiti. 

Hon. Ojuawo during the flag-off warmly welcomed the medical personnel and expressed his deep appreciation for their selfless services to humanity. He also urged all participants to take full advantage of the thorough health checks and counselling services available, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the doctors' advice and prescriptions to get the best outcome.



'I'm delighted that you've come out to assess your health status,' Hon. Ojuawo said. 'Please ensure you follow the doctors' guidance and prescriptions carefully. This program is designed to support you, particularly the vulnerable, such as the elderly and pregnant women. We have additional special packages for expectant mothers.'

The primary goal of the outreach was to address and ameliorate the health challenges faced by indigent individuals who may be suffering from various ailments, some of which might be asymptomatic and go unnoticed without proper medical screening. 

Hon. Ojuawo promised to take the outreach to other parts of the constituency, namely, Ikere and Ekiti South West Local Government Areas soon.


During the counselling session, one of the facilitators, Dr. Abioye Oladipupo stressed the critical importance of taking diet seriously to avoid becoming overly dependent on medication. 'We must prioritize our diet,' Dr. Oladidupo advised. 'When we combine good nutrition with regular daily exercise, we can definitely live healthier lives.' He further tasked all participants to regularly check their blood pressure and sugar levels to stay informed about their overall wellness and take proactive steps towards maintaining good health.  



Chairman of the Ekiti State Medical Outreach, Dr. Afolabi appealed to all participants to always follow up at the health centers closest to them and to regularly check their blood pressure. He also extended his gratitude to Hon. Ojuawo for his purposeful leadership and for partnering with the NMA to make the medical outreach possible.
