Ekiti APC Begins Strategic Move For Women's Full Participation in Politics.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has taken a strategic move towards ensuring women's full participation in politics across the State.

The leadership of the APC in Ekiti State converged in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, to promote inclusivity and mobilize women for the forthcoming elections in the State.

The meeting was attended by the APC State Party Chairman, Chief Sola Eleshin; Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun; Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe; Commissioner for Town Planning, Rt. Hon. Karounwi Oladapo; Special Adviser on Gender Empowerment and Mobilization, Chief Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye; Ekiti APC Women Leader, Mrs Caroline Eegunlusi; all APC Local Government women leaders and women representatives from the 16 LGAs.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, the State Party Chairman, Mr. Eleshin said the move is part of efforts of the party's leadership to build a supportive environment that removes barriers preventing women from venturing into politics.

According to Eleshin, the inclusion of women in politics will further build a formidable structure of APC in its quest to become the party to beat during the forthcoming elections in the State.

He said: "They are stakeholders in the formation of political parties and activities of the party in the State. We will like to encourage them to expand their scope for their own political advancement.

"In the past, women believe they are doing it for their male counterparts but this time around, they are major stakeholders in Ekiti politics and they should be active."

On his part, Chief Awe stressed the importance of having a single line of action among the APC women geared towards ensuring equal opportunities and guard against discrimination.

He further explained that they are expected to engage other women in various communities across the state aimed at building widespread sustainable leadership amongst the women  in the State.

His words: "We realized that the issue of politics and governance involves both the male and female. We are looking at the situation that we are entering another critical stage of our politicking. Women should not be left behind but if they are not coordinated, it could be otherwise.

"We are using this meeting to establish a coordinating unit for our women all over the state. We want them to form a single line of action where the women leader speaks from the state down to the unit level.

The Special Adviser on Gender Empowerment and Mobilisation, Mrs Olaleye described Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a women-friendly governor, who has prioritized the welfare of women in his administration.

Olaleye explained that the latest development by the state party leadership is targeted at ensuring the smooth operation of its activities from the state to the ward level.

REVOLUTIONIZING CASSAVA FARMING: AGBEYEWA FARMS PARTNERS WITH EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT TO SUBSIDIZE HIGH-YIELDING CASSAVA STEMS FOR FARMERS.

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria: In a significant initiative aimed at transforming the agricultural landscape of Ekiti State, Agbeyewa Farms has announced a partnership with the Ekiti State Government to subsidize high-yielding cassava stems for farmers during the 2025 farming season. This collaboration seeks to empower cassava farmers by providing access to quality, profitable cassava stems, thereby enhancing their productivity and income.

‎This partnership is part of the Cassava Revolution agenda, established between Agbeyewa Farms and the Ekiti State Government in April 2024. The agenda aims to cultivate 100,000 hectares of cassava fields by 2030 through both in-grower and out-grower programs across Ekiti and neighboring states.

‎‎In addition to providing subsidized cassava stems, Agbeyewa Farms will facilitate direct sales opportunities for farmers, allowing them to sell their produce at established market prices. This arrangement ensures a stable market for Ekiti farmers and guarantees fair compensation for their harvests.

‎The partnership aligns with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji's administration's commitment to making agriculture attractive to the youth of Ekiti and fostering wealth creation. By offering subsidized cassava stems and a reliable market for their produce, this initiative aims to empower young farmers and investors in cassava farming as a viable business venture that generates jobs and wealth.

Agbeyewa Farms has developed various cassava varieties, including Dixon, White Lion, TME 419, and Ayaya, each offering unique benefits and characteristics. The Farm will introduce four new cassava varieties in 2025: Renewed Hope, Obasanjo, GameChanger, and Baba 70. The company's investment in research and development is expected to further enhance the productivity and profitability of cassava farming in Ekiti State.

‎With this new partnership, Agbeyewa Farms and the Ekiti State Government are set to revolutionize cassava farming in the state, boost productivity, and drive economic growth in Ekiti State. This initiative represents a significant achievement for Governor Oyebanji's administration.
‎Dauda Lawal, Director of Community Engagement and Communication at Agbeyewa Farms, stated that details regarding subsidized prices for each cassava variety, their attributes, and strategic information about sales locations will be communicated to the public in due course.
‎"This arrangement is a transformative opportunity for all cassava farmers in Ekiti and beyond. It marks a revolution in the Nigerian cassava industry, with the Ekiti State Government leading this charge. Further details regarding marketing and sales arrangements will be shared soon," Lawal remarked.

OYEBANJI WELCOMES EKSU'S RATING AS NIGERIA'S BEST STATE VARSITY.

OYEBANJI WELCOMES EKSU'S RATING AS NIGERIA'S BEST STATE VARSITY.
….Congratulates Council,  Management on the Enviable Feat.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed his delight with the emergence of Ekiti State University (EKSU) as the leading State University in Nigeria.

EKSU also secured the 12th position out of 270 universities in Nigeria (both public and private) according to a comprehensive ranking list published by Times Higher Education rating for 2025.

Governor Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, congratulated the   university’s Chancellor, Dr Tunji Olowolafe, for his support and commitment towards the development of the University. He also congratulated the Governing Council of the University led by Prof Akin Oyebode and the management led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Joseph Babatola Ayodele on the achievement, which he said resulted from the hard work of the staff and students.

The Governor noted that EKSU's leading position among fellow state-owned universities in the country is a positive advertisement of the state’s education sector, and a justification for his  administration’s huge investment in education and human capital development.

The Governor said he is happy  that EKSU, with the latest feat, is justifying government’s huge investment in education, especially the significant increment in Government’s subvention to the University from N261 million to N410 million monthly, improved staff welfare package and infrastructure development, including the reconstruction of Ado - Iworoko  - Ifaki road, among others.

Governor Oyebanji, who is EKSU’s  first alumnus to serve as Visitor to the university, promised to continue to ensure adequate government support for the university in areas of  teaching and research, as well as infrastructure upgrade.

The Governor enjoined the management of the university not to rest on its oars, but work harder not only to sustain the momentum as the best state university but also to emerge as the overall best university in Nigeria, a feat he said is  achievable with more commitment.

It is recalled that Governor Oyebanji, in a bid to solve the power supply issue in EKSU, had, last year,  directed that the university be connected to the state’s Independent Power Plant (IPP).
