REVOLUTIONIZING CASSAVA FARMING: AGBEYEWA FARMS PARTNERS WITH EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT TO SUBSIDIZE HIGH-YIELDING CASSAVA STEMS FOR FARMERS.
Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria: In a significant initiative aimed at transforming the agricultural landscape of Ekiti State, Agbeyewa Farms has announced a partnership with the Ekiti State Government to subsidize high-yielding cassava stems for farmers during the 2025 farming season. This collaboration seeks to empower cassava farmers by providing access to quality, profitable cassava stems, thereby enhancing their productivity and income.
This partnership is part of the Cassava Revolution agenda, established between Agbeyewa Farms and the Ekiti State Government in April 2024. The agenda aims to cultivate 100,000 hectares of cassava fields by 2030 through both in-grower and out-grower programs across Ekiti and neighboring states.
In addition to providing subsidized cassava stems, Agbeyewa Farms will facilitate direct sales opportunities for farmers, allowing them to sell their produce at established market prices. This arrangement ensures a stable market for Ekiti farmers and guarantees fair compensation for their harvests.
The partnership aligns with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji's administration's commitment to making agriculture attractive to the youth of Ekiti and fostering wealth creation. By offering subsidized cassava stems and a reliable market for their produce, this initiative aims to empower young farmers and investors in cassava farming as a viable business venture that generates jobs and wealth.
Agbeyewa Farms has developed various cassava varieties, including Dixon, White Lion, TME 419, and Ayaya, each offering unique benefits and characteristics. The Farm will introduce four new cassava varieties in 2025: Renewed Hope, Obasanjo, GameChanger, and Baba 70. The company's investment in research and development is expected to further enhance the productivity and profitability of cassava farming in Ekiti State.
With this new partnership, Agbeyewa Farms and the Ekiti State Government are set to revolutionize cassava farming in the state, boost productivity, and drive economic growth in Ekiti State. This initiative represents a significant achievement for Governor Oyebanji's administration.
Dauda Lawal, Director of Community Engagement and Communication at Agbeyewa Farms, stated that details regarding subsidized prices for each cassava variety, their attributes, and strategic information about sales locations will be communicated to the public in due course.
"This arrangement is a transformative opportunity for all cassava farmers in Ekiti and beyond. It marks a revolution in the Nigerian cassava industry, with the Ekiti State Government leading this charge. Further details regarding marketing and sales arrangements will be shared soon," Lawal remarked.
