ISE/ORUN APC LEADERS REJECT IMPOSITION, REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR OJUAWO.

ISE/ORUN APC LEADERS REJECT IMPOSITION, REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR OJUAWO.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ise/Orun convened at the party secretariat this morning to address the press on the controversy surrounding the attempted endorsement that occurred yesterday.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Femi Ajayi emphasized the need to clarify the party’s position to its faithful. He stated that the current Member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, Hon. (AVM Rtd) Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, has been performing commendably and enjoys their full support. He further noted that the party has established procedures for selecting candidates, adding that where consensus cannot be reached, a direct primary election remains the appropriate option.

In his remarks, Hon. Femi Babalola condemned what he described as the persistent imposition of candidates by Senator Adeyeye, insisting that such actions must come to an end. He stressed that Ise/Orun leaders will no longer accept the imposition of Toyin Okoro or any other candidate, recalling past instances where positions such as councillors, local government chairman, and assembly members were allegedly imposed without due consultation.

Also speaking, Chief J.S. Alabi, popularly known as Baba Asako, aligned with Hon. Babalola’s position, affirming that Hon. Ojuawo has delivered on his mandate and he deserve a second term. He reiterated that the leaders in Ise/Orun remain firmly united in their support for him.

The APC Youth Leader in Ise/Orun, Hon. Opeyemi Abiodun, commended Hon. Ojuawo for his timely intervention during yesterday’s incident. He disclosed that following a distress call from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ise Ekiti, Hon. Ojuawo facilitated the presence of military personnel, whose intervention helped prevent a breakdown of law and order. He alleged that Toyin Okoro and his supporters had attempted to force their way into the party secretariat despite the earlier cancellation of the meeting by the party chairman, Hon. Dare Idowu.

Following the press briefing, the party leaders proceeded from the secretariat to the residence of Hon. Ojuawo in Orun Ekiti, where they joined him for his customary Easter celebration.

Also in attendance, Hon  Ropo Ogunbolude, Prof Philip Adetiloye, Baba Bode, Major Aluko, Hon Oluremi Ajayi Babitin, Engr Gbenga Omole. Hon Deji Ajayi, Ward Chairmen.
