Our Urban Renewal Policy Transforming Ado-Ekiti into Modern Capital City - Oyebanji.

Our Urban Renewal Policy Transforming Ado-Ekiti into Modern Capital City - Oyebanji.
....Commissions more dual carriage road projects.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has said the urban renewal initiative of his administration will transform Ado - Ekiti into a modern capital city that can compete with its counterparts across the country.

Oyebanji said his government is completing the  Ekiti Agro Allied International Airport, building roads and flyover, designing  business districts in the city and adjoining satellite towns to give the capital city a facelift and a befitting status.

Governor Oyebanij stated this in Ado Ekiti, on Friday, while inaugurating the dualised GRA Third Extension road to mark the third anniversary of his administration.

Oyebanji, represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, stated that the road dualisation, was in pursuit of his urban renewal policy and a way of responding to the increased influx of vehicles to that section of the metropolis.

The Governor added that effective transportation attracts and eases operation of businesses and investments, saying the intra and inter state road connectivities being championed by his government was geared towards creating a strong platform for more investment drives.

"You all know the value placed by this government on provision of road infrastructures. This was responsible for why the government deemed it fit to build road networks to connect our towns and provides internal roads in the communities and satellite towns within Ado Ekiti to ease transportation and bring a facelift to the urban renewal policy being championed by this administration.

"Just two days ago, this government commissioned the Ado Ekiti Ring Road Phase 1 project, a 17.8 kilometre of road that stretches from Iworoko and passes through towns like Are Ekiti, Afao, Araromi Obo, and other adjoining towns and terminates at the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport.

"Our mission is to ensure that a new Ado Ekiti town will be created along that axis that will help the urban renewal policy of government, decongest Ado Ekiti metropolis of traffic logjams and makes it a befitting State Capital.

"This road dualisation project was particularly conceived to ease transportation in this region of Ado Ekiti metropolis . We are not unaware of the increased influx of vehicles to this axis due to the preference people have for residences around here and this propelled the government to embark on this project to further ease transportation and to add modernity expected in any GRA.

"With this road facility, we are convinced that this area will enjoy more accessibility and will help in checking a situation whereby your vehicles get damaged so easily at regular interval".

Oyebanji urged the residents to coalesce efforts and prevent those he described as unscrupulous elements from damaging the facility, saying it is in their collective interest to join hands with government in preserving the quality of the road.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, described the project as a masterstroke in policy execution, saying government reserved area represents the residential, and industrial hub of any town, which he said makes the dualisation more profound and rewarding.

Adebayo said the dualisation project accentuated the fact that Governor Oyebanji is incurably committed to making Ado Ekiti a business and investment oriented environment, land of prosperity and epicentre of development in the country.

A resident of Maryland Avenue and former Head of Service, Barr Dele Agbede, described the electrification and the dualisation projects as record breaking exploits being the first dual carriage way built in any estate in Ado Ekiti metropolis.

Agbede added that  the road laced with solar street lighting will add aesthetic value to the estate and makes it a much sought environment for habitation and business.

" I am happy that Governor Oyebanji has made ways for us where there was no way. In fact, this environment looked  swampy and muddy, we never knew this dual carriage can stand here. I want to assure him that we will reciprocate this gesture with votes in 2022".

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Maryland Avenue, Mr Lanre Shittu, branded  Oyebanji as a governor with towering stature among progressive governors in Nigeria, with the way he has restored  normalcy in terms of business and security to the estate.

"All the landlords here have revalidated their voter cards and transferred same to the nearest polling units so that we can give our governor a block vote in the 2026 governorship election" .

The Contractor that handled the project, Rudy Construction Nigeria Limited, Mr Rodo Rudy, revealed that  the dualisation project was done to specification and with quality materials as designed by the state government, so that it can stand the test of time.

Present at the event are: Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye,  Head of Service, Dr Kemi Olomojobi, the Chief of Staff, Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo, members of the State executive council, local government chairmen, politicians, landlord associations, among others.

OSV Reaffirms Support for APC and Governor Oyebanji Amid Misleading Court Injunction Claims.

OSV Reaffirms Support for APC and Governor Oyebanji Amid Misleading Court Injunction Claims.

Dear great members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the good people of Ekiti State,

The Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV) — a foremost grassroots political movement in Ekiti State — has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the peaceful and seamless conduct of the APC delegate election and the governorship primary scheduled for Monday, 27th October, 2025, despite the backdrop of a frivolous restraining order obtained by certain individuals.

In a statement released this morning by the Convener of the group, Hon. HC Ade, OSV urged all well-meaning citizens of Ekiti State not to be deceived or misled by any so-called kangaroo court injunction aimed at disrupting the affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) as the consensus flagbearer of our great party.

The group described the purported restraining order — allegedly obtained through the backdoor — as null and void and incapable of standing the test of time, emphasizing that Nigerian courts have repeatedly ruled against meddling in internal party affairs.

Below are some judicial precedents where the courts have maintained this position:

Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu v. Aniagwu Emmanuel & 3 Ors. (2025):
The Supreme Court ruled that disputes over internal party leadership are internal matters. Courts lack jurisdiction unless personal rights under the party’s constitution are infringed.

Ahmed Lawan Senatorial Candidacy Case (2023):
The Supreme Court held that the APC’s recognition of Ahmed Lawan as its Yobe North candidate was a party affair and dismissed the suit for being improperly filed.

Imo State Governorship Election Case (2020):
The Court reaffirmed that it only intervenes when electoral malpractices clearly affect results — not in valid party processes.

PDP v. INEC (2019):
The judiciary consistently held that it would not interfere in party primaries or candidate selections except where there is a breach of the party constitution or electoral laws.

Ibrahim Shekarau Case (2023):
The Supreme Court affirmed that internal party disputes remain within party jurisdiction unless individual rights are directly violated.

Key Takeaway:
Nigerian courts have consistently upheld that internal matters such as leadership tussles, delegate elections, and candidate selections fall strictly within party jurisdiction — unless there is a clear breach of the constitution or electoral law.

The Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV) therefore stands firmly by the APC leadership and Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, reaffirming that no amount of distraction can derail the ongoing process of consensus affirmation and continued progress in Ekiti State.

Signed,
HC Ade
Convener, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV)

Oyebanji urges vigilance to Curb vandalization, theft of power Installations.

Oyebanji urges vigilance to Curb vandalization, theft of  power Installations.
.....commissions more electrification projects in rural areas.

Sequel to  reported cases of vandalism of electricity installations that triggered power outage in some communities in Ekiti State, the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has charged citizens to deploy internal security and vigilance in checking activities of vandals, who are destroying state and national assets.

Oyebanji said while the security agencies are performing  their statutory duties of protecting the valuable assets,  communities should look inwards and complement such efforts through internal security measures that could checkmate perpetrators of their nefarious acts.

The Governor gave the charge in Ado Ekiti, on Friday, while inaugurating electrification projects at Idi-Aagba along Ilawe road and New Maryland Avenue along NTA Road , as part of activities commemorating the third anniversary of his administration.

Addressing the ecstatic residents of the two Ado Ekiti satellite towns, Governor Oyebanji, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, promised to connect many communities to the national power grid to spur economic and business activities, as well as aide security of lives and property.

The Governor pointed out that the citizens could attest to the fact that his administration places premium value on electrification projects, which accounted for why over 40 towns were reconnected back to national power grid at the advent of his government.

Essentially, Governor Oyebanji urged the benefiting communities to be circumspect of the activities of vandals, who had succeeded in immersing some towns in darkness after looting their electricity installations, or destroyed them while perpetrating their nefarious actions.

Governor Oyebanji said  regular power supply remains the best way to power the growth of local economy and enhance development of small and medium scale enterprises through which unemployment and the attendant poverty rate can be alleviated among the populace.

Besides employment generation and boosting of the growth of businesses, Oyebanji noted that provision of electricity to any environment will bolster nightlife whereby traders, hoteliers, Okada Riders and other business owners can operate till late in the night without harassment or any threat of insecurity.

"It is also an established fact that a well illuminated environment can help in checkmating the activities of robbers, cultists, thieves and perpetrators of evils in our society.

"On these premises, I want to charge the residents of this area, particularly the landlords' association and the youth to take ownership of  these electricity accessories by preventing them from being vandalized by evil men in the society.

"There have been reported cases of electricity installation theft and vandalism, but with you forming an internal security measures, you can prevent these from happening and you can as well enjoy the durability of these facilities that have been provided by this government to make lives more comfortable for you and add modernity to where you reside", he said.

Speaking at the separate  events, the Technical Advisor on Power Infrastructures, Engr. Philip Atere, said the residents of the area were using solar system and generating sets before now, which was gravely  hazardous to their wellbeing.

Atere, who regretted  the harrowing experiences of residents not privileged to savour  electricity supplies, revealed that a total of 13 more electrification projects are ongoing around the state, with 11 domiciled in Ado Ekiti capital city to reinforce electricity supply .

The Technical Advisor stated that  the governor has succeeded in removing bottlenecks hindering possession of prepaid Meters, urging the residents to visit the office of the Ekiti State Electricity Regulation Agency and purchase theirs to remove the burden of estimated billings.

"These projects were already completed and energised for  immediate use. About 13 electrification projects are ongoing in Ekiti State and soon, another electrification project will be done between Ita Ore and Okemesi Ekiti. No governor in history has matched Governor Oyebanji's  investment in electrification projects.

"Idi-Aagba and Maryland Avenue's electrification projects are on 33 KVA and with this,  Benin Electricity Distribution Company  has no control over your light, you are directly connected  to the national grid, not on 11KVA. But ensure that you get your Meters, so that you can pay for what you use".

Eulogising the governor, the Chairman of the Idi-Aagba Landlords association, Mr Babalola Michael, said the area has been in darkness for 15 years, which has now been resolved, promising that the electorate in the satellite towns will reciprocate the gesture with bountiful votes are n 2026.

"Within this short time that the project started, people have started trooping in here to buy lands and build more houses. Business has started growing and we know that what the governor has done will automatically add value to our lives".
