EKSU DEBUNKS MISLEADING SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIMS ON CBT FACILITIES, COMMENDS GOVERNOR OYEBANJI’S MASSIVE INTERVENTIONS.
The Management of Ekiti State University has noted with concern a misleading video and accompanying commentaries circulating on social media regarding the conduct of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) in the University.
The University wishes to categorically state that the claims portraying students as “fighting over access to the ICT Hall” and insinuating infrastructural neglect by the administration of the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Dr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, are grossly exaggerated, misleading and clearly intended to create a false impression in the minds of the public.
For the avoidance of doubt, the University has functional CBT facilities used for examinations and academic activities.
The video currently circulating online merely captured students waiting for their scheduled examination sessions and does not in any way represent chaos, violence or institutional breakdown as being mischievously portrayed by some social media users.
Management noted that despite clearly arranged batches and timetables designed to ensure orderly and seamless conduct of examinations, many students naturally prefer to gain access to the venue earlier than their allotted time.
This tendency sometimes creates temporary congestion around the examination area, which may be wrongly interpreted by outsiders as disorder or lack of adequate planning.
It is particularly unfortunate that certain individuals have attempted to politicize the issue and unfairly drag the name of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Biodun Oyebanji, into the narrative despite his administration’s visible and commendable interventions in the development of the University.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, has repeatedly acknowledged and appreciated the unwavering commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the growth and infrastructural advancement of Ekiti State University.
Professor Ayodele noted that the Governor remains one of the strongest supporters of the University and has consistently demonstrated practical commitment towards improving the standard and learning environment of the institution
For the avoidance of doubt, EKSU has standard ICT infrastructure, more reason it is marked as a centre for many national examinations, where other sister institutions are consistently accommodated during national CBT examinations such as UTME, TRCN, Nursing Council and all State organised Examinations. It is necessary to inform the public that EKSU has a standard time table that does not allow overcrowding and examinations were rescheduled to accommodate students who are beneficiaries of NELFUND loan.
It should also be noted that the administration of governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has facilitated 2 high impact ICT experience centres to the University which are to be commissioned and handed over this month.
While constructive criticism and sugestions for improvement are always welcomed by the University Management, dissemination of misleading content and deliberate distortion of facts capable of causing unnecessary panic or bringing the institution into disrepute should be discouraged.
Management wishes to assure students, parents and members of the public that the University continuously reviews its examination processes and infrastructural needs with a view to improving efficiency, convenience and overall students’ experience.
The Vice Chancellor therefore urges members of the public, especially social media users, to verify information before making conclusions or spreading narratives capable of undermining the image of the University and the Government of Ekiti State.
