Oyebanji hails residents as Ekiti tops fiscal transparency ranking.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has commended residents of the state for their compliance with fiscal policies following the state’s ranking among the top-performing states in fiscal transparency in the country for the fourth quarter of 2025.

The ranking was contained in a report by BudgIT titled States Fiscal Transparency League (SFTL) Q4 2025.

According to the report, Ekiti was among nine states that achieved the highest score of 39 points, the maximum obtainable under the indicators assessed.

The report also noted that Ekiti maintained the top position throughout the 2025 fiscal year, attributing the performance to the state’s institutionalised transparency systems and consistent disclosure of fiscal information.

Governor Oyebanji, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said the recognition reflects his administration’s commitment to development anchored on accountability and transparency.

He added that the state would continue to pursue its shared prosperity agenda while promoting accountability, transparency and citizen participation in governance.

The report stated that Ekiti’s performance highlights its proactive approach to financial disclosure and the digital accessibility of budget information.

It also advised the state to continue strengthening institutional mechanisms for sustained compliance, ensure real-time updates of fiscal data and enhance public engagement in budgetary processes to further promote accountability and public trust.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the ranking as confirmation of the state government’s commitment to open governance, fiscal responsibility and accountable management of public resources.

He said the recognition reflects reforms implemented by the Oyebanji administration to ensure that government financial processes and spending remain transparent, accessible and open to public scrutiny.

Olatunbosun added that the state government has continued to publish quarterly budget

implementation reports, maintain functional fiscal data repositories and operate accessible procurement platforms in line with global best practices in public financial management.

He noted that the sustained ranking demonstrates that Ekiti has moved beyond periodic compliance to institutionalised transparency practices embedded within its governance structure.
