BAO’s Unprecedented Boost for Education: Ekiti Teachers Reach New Heights.
By Olamide Akinwumi.
The commitment of the Ekiti State Government to the advancement of education has once again been demonstrated through the promotion of over 5,000 primary school teachers, including 231 Head Teachers, to higher ranks in the civil service. Under the visionary leadership of Biodun Oyebanji, this historic step has elevated Head Teachers in public primary schools to Grade Level 16, a milestone never before achieved in the history of Ekiti State.
This landmark achievement reflects the fulfillment of a promise made by the governor to reposition the education sector and ensure that primary school administrators receive the recognition and professional dignity they deserve. By aligning the promotion structure of Head Teachers with that of their counterparts in the core civil service, the administration has reinforced the value placed on foundational education, which remains the bedrock of societal development.
While presenting the promotion letters, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, described the development as a monumental milestone in Ekiti’s education sector. According to him, the exercise clearly demonstrates the administration’s dedication to improving the welfare, motivation, and productivity of teachers who shape the future of the state’s children.
Indeed, Governor Oyebanji continues to prove that leadership is about impact, not mere promises. Through bold reforms, strategic investments, and people-centered policies, his administration is laying a strong educational foundation that will benefit generations to come. The promotion of thousands of teachers is not just a policy decision—it is a powerful statement that Ekiti values its educators and is committed to excellence in learning.
As Ekiti people witness these remarkable strides across sectors, it becomes increasingly clear that the state is on the path of sustainable progress under BAO’s leadership. For the sake of continuity, stability, and the consolidation of these transformative achievements, Ekiti Kete must stand united in support of BAO’s continuity till 2030. When purposeful leadership delivers results, the wise choice is to sustain it.
