Oyebanji, who saluted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his initiative that encourages farming,  promised to tackle headon, those he described as  unscrupulous elements  and criminally minded individuals, who were determined to sabotage his efforts  and make farming difficult in the state.

The Governor spoke while commissioning the Farm Dormitory located at Eporo Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area, on Wednesday, to mark the third anniversary of his administration.

The Governor also commissioned the ones built at Iyemero and Ikere Ekiti, targeted at increasing food production and bringing down food prices in the state.

Oyebanji, represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, said besides reviving the moribund farm settlements built by the administration of the Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, that another 13 had been created to give comfort to the youth farmers in their farming areas.

He described the Renewed Hope farm settlement as being outstanding on the strength of involving technology for agricultural planning and innovation to attract youth as well as partnership with firms to ensure that Ekiti contributes to food production and food surplus that can guarantee security in the country.

He said with the farm dormitory project, the rural economy can be stimulated, especially with modular irrigation provided to make all the youth farmers to work round the year and secure their future through financial gains that can support their families.

"Today, the dormitories we are commissioning in Eporo, Emure and Iyemero are built to provide convenient abode, so that the youth farmers can enjoy the comfort of the city and they won't be distracted from their main focus.

"As of now, about 5,000 youths have been employed through this initiative. The rural economy has been stimulated while our youths are now more than ready to go into farming.

"We are not unaware of the activities of the unscrupulous elements who wanted to sabotage our efforts. I am assuring you that I will work with security agencies to secure all the farm settlements, so that you can work and live here without any harassment or fear if being kidnapped".

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, said the building at Eporo Ekiti can take about 200 farmers and have facilities like solar power lights and generating sets to ensure regular supply of light and water that can offer the required comfort.

Boluwade said the farm settlement has about 300 hectares of land apportioned to the youth farmers, which has helped to tame the menace of kidnapping and banditry that were common in the axis before the positive change of events.

To further strengthen farming and production, the Commissioner added that  Agric Transformation Centre worth over N20 million, with modern  facilities, will be sited at  Emure-Eporo axis to further radicalize agriculture, saying the project will contain poultry, pet house and other farming sectors that will add value to the state.

He appealed to the young farmers to make good use of the opportunity provided by the state government, saying Ekiti rising to food security status remains the focus of the current government.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the YSJ Farms , Mrs. Oluwayemisi Joluwe, revealed that the young  farmers being guided by the firm  made a  profit margin of N800 million between 2024 and now, saying efforts are on to increase to a sum.of N1 billion before the end of 2025 farming season.

Joluwe praised Governor Oyebanji for being visionary and steadfast in pursing his vision to make encourage commercial farming and as well promote youth employment in the state.

About the exploits the firm has made within a shorty period, Mrs Joluwe stated that the company makes a profit of N138 million in 2024 while operating in just three local governments.

She revealed that the profit margin has been lifted to a staggering sum of N800 million with the operation now expanded to 13 local governments, with a target to increase the profile to a sum of one billion Naira before the end of 2025.

Mrs Joluwe said commercial farming midwifed by the state government in partnership with the firm has radicalised food production in Ekiti State and responsible for why Ekiti State us now rated as having the least food inflation  in the country by the National Bureau of Statistics.

"Today’s occasion is more than just the commissioning of a building; it is a celebration of vision, leadership, and partnership — the kind that transforms communities, empowers young people, and builds a better tomorrow.

"Last year, we recorded a profit of ₦138 million operating in just four local government areas. As of today, we have expanded to thirteen local governments and surpassed ₦800 million.

"We are confident that before the end of this year, we will close above ₦1 billion in profit. While we commend the ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture, we must not overlook some of the challenges faced by our young farmers".

To consolidate the gains further, the YSJ Managing Director, said incidences of insecurity have made youth farmers  hesitant to return to their farms,  appealing to Governor Oyebanji  to swiftly address these concerns, so that the youth  farmers can continue their noble work with confidence, safety, and pride.

The Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye, commended the government for the innovative actions being deployed to boost agriculture in the state, describing this as a masterstroke that will revamp the sector in the state.

"All of you should go and get your voter cards. We will return  votes that had never been witnessed in Emure Ekiti since 1999 that will shake other local governments. Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Needs Less Campaign to Win, Says Okpebholo.

Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Needs Less Campaign to Win, Says Okpebholo.
...commissions road, farm dormitory projects
...I won't relent in my service to Ekiti people- Oyebanji.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Ekpobholo, has declared that Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji requires less stress and campaign to triumph in the June 20, 2026 Governorship election, on account of his superlative performance in three years.

Governor  Ekpobholo, disclosed this in Ikere Ekiti, on Wednesday, while commissioning the Ikere-Igbara Odo road and a farm dormitory constructed by Governor Oyebanji's government, as part of the activities commemorating the third anniversary  of the administration.

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had earlier commissioned different road projects at separate locations across the state in the last few days.

Brimming with joy and pride that the Ekiti governor has performed exceedingly well, Senator Ekpobholo, said he was dazzled by the quantum of job done and the groundswell of support being received by the Governor from the masses.

"Mr Governor, my dear good brother and friend, I want to tell you confidently that you have done well. I came into Ekiti and started hearing BAO everywhere and this showed that Ekiti people really appreciate your efforts in three years.

"When I was addressing my people in Edo State, I said I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2.5m votes for 2027 presidential election. With what I have seen in Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji may likely surpass that record.

"I drove on the flyover you built in just three years and I came to the conclusion that you don't need to campaign much or stress yourself in Ekiti to win the coming governorship election.

"I congratulate you and all Ekiti people for what you have been able to achieve for them in three years", he said.

In his submission, especially about how strategic the road is to the economic survival of the state, Governor Oyebanji, said the project will help in exposing the State to better economic potentials, particularly by unlocking the food production capacity of the state.

The Governor, who narrated the ordeal of the residents in the hands of criminal elements along the route, in the past, said the current upgraded road will address the sordid past and turn the corridor into a viable economic hub.

Governor Oyebanji appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving him enormous support through his courageous economic decisions that freed money into states and  that have started  manifesting positivity for the country in the areas of infrastructure upgrade and better life for the citizens.

"I don't have much to say than to thank the good people of Ekiti State for their support. Since we started this anniversary, Governors of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ondo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa have all came to commission projects. We promise you that we will continue to serve you well", the governor pledged .

Earlier in his address, the  Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, said Oyebanji has succeeded in making the road a life wire of the economy, after degenerating  into a corridor of peril, where kidnappers and killers carried out their nefarious acts without resistance due to long years of neglect.

Speaking about the specification, the commissioner, said: "We ensured that we channelised the two sides to ensure the durability of the road. I appeal to our people to cultivate the culture of protecting public utilities, so that we can enjoy the durability and full gains of the project".

The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti and Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, who was overwhelmed with joy, saluted Oyebanji for completing the project speedily, saying the community played critical role in  ensuring that specification was not altered by setting up a committee to monitor as the work progressed.

Oba Adu Alagbado said the passion being displayed in the execution of projects by Oyebanji  have attracted wide applause from the people and igniting  industrial growth that is gradually turning around the state in terms of economic prosperity and social rebranding.

"The jinx of continuity agenda is being broken under your reign. We are happy that our people appreciate your efforts. We are having consensus in a ruling party for the first time. This is because the support you are getting is genuine, not fake. But the expectations are high for your second term, go and buckle up, God will help you", the monarch advised.

Bayo Ajayi, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) and Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Christianah Afuye (MCA) on their emergence as the APC flagbearers for the forthcoming 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

Engr. Ajayi, a seasoned engineer and grassroots political leader, commended the governor and his deputy following the overwhelming voice vote of confidence by 885 delegates across the 177 wards of the state during the party’s primary election.

He lauded the delegates for upholding the supremacy of the party and for recognizing the achievements of Governor Oyebanji’s administration over the past three years, describing his leadership as purposeful, progressive, and people-centred.

"I sincerely appreciate the governor for his inclusive style of leadership, his efforts in uniting political leaders across the state, and for establishing a government of unity that cuts across party lines,” Engr. Ajayi said.

He further commended the administration for its commitment to infrastructural development, human capital growth, and good governance, which, according to him, have positioned Ekiti State for sustainable progress.

Engr. Ajayi also urged the people of Ekiti to rally behind the developmental agenda of Governor Oyebanji by voting for the BAO/MCA ticket in the 2026 gubernatorial election to ensure continuity of good governance, quality education, accessible healthcare, and improved welfare for all citizens.

“The governor has set a solid foundation for progress. Supporting his re-election will guarantee the continuation of development, peace, and prosperity in our dear state,” he added.

Clearing the Fog: Understanding the Veracity of the Consensus Affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Clearing the Fog: Understanding the Veracity of the Consensus Affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
...a response to the faceless Coalition of Civil Society Groups (COCSG).

The foremost grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation movement for sustaining good governance and democratic culture in Ekiti State, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (_OSV_), has strongly condemned in strong terms the recent obnoxious and false information being circulated by a faceless organisation parading itself as the Coalition of Civil Society Groups (COCSG).

In a statement released by the Convener, Hon. HC Ade, the group described the criticisms against the seamless consensus affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as a product of ignorance, misinformation, and deliberate mischief by outsiders unfamiliar with Ekiti’s political realities and the provisions of Section 84 of the Nigerian Electoral Act, 2022.

According to the statement, rather than acknowledging the transparent, peaceful, and lawful process that produced the APC governorship candidate for the June 20, 2026 election, the so-called COCSG chose to display its shallow understanding of the INEC guidelines, the Nigerian Electoral Act, and the supremacy of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

The OSV has further clarified that the adoption of Governor Oyebanji through consensus affirmation followed the due process in its totality and was guided by the following factors:

Strict compliance with relevant laws and party guidelines.

●Disqualification of aspirants who failed to meet up with set criteria by the NWC.

●Voluntary withdrawal and endorsement of the BAO by the only remaining aspirant, Mrs. Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo.

●The Governor’s sterling performance and visible achievements within three years in office.

●The overwhelming support of Ekiti people, both elites and grassroots alike.

The group has thus questioned the credibility of the so-called COCSG, asking relevant question: “Where were they when Governor Oyebanji was receiving unprecedented endorsements from groups across and beyond the State?”

Indeed, the consensus for BAO’s return enjoys the solid backing of:

●The Presidency and the entire APC structure from National to the Ward levels.

●The Ekiti Caucus in the National Assembly, led by Senate Leader, Senator (Dr.) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele.

●The 26-member State House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye.

●All 38 Local Government and LCDA Chairmen, and the Conference of former legislators led by Senator Adetunmbi.

●Former Governors and Deputy Governors across party lines, under the leadership of Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Chief Paul Alabi, and Professor Modupe Adelabu.

●Women and youth groups, opinion leaders, CSOs, and Ekiti indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

While patriotic groups and stakeholders are uniting to consolidate the gains of good governance, these “commercial civil society actors” continue to expose their ignorance by mocking the progress of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) and Governor Oyebanji, using propaganda to mislead unsuspecting citizens.

The Oyebanji Street Vanguard has therefore urged all well-meaning Nigerians and lovers of democracy to disregard the baseless rantings of these faceless individuals and continue to support strong democratic institutions which are the foundation of our political stability and sustainable development.

Finally, OSV, has however advised the so-called COCSG to focus on their states and stop meddling in Ekiti affairs they neither understand nor experience. The people of Ekiti know what they want, and they have spoken loudly through their united support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

BAO’s Green Revolution: Ekiti Revives Forestry Sector to Drive Green Economy, Climate Action.

BAO’s Green Revolution: Ekiti Revives Forestry Sector to Drive Green Economy, Climate Action.

A quiet but intensive transformation is unfolding in Ekiti State’s forestry sector under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO).

Guided by the conviction that environmental health is central to citizens’ well-being and sustainable development, the Oyebanji administration is reversing decades of forest degradation and positioning Ekiti as a model of green economy growth and climate action in Nigeria.

For years, many of the state’s forest reserves faced alarming depletion, which was overrun by bandits, illegal loggers, and herdsmen, resulting in widespread deforestation and loss of biodiversity.

Determined to halt this decline, Governor Oyebanji took decisive steps to reclaim the forests through coordinated security operations that flushed out criminal elements and restored safety across the reserves.

This renewed sense of security laid the groundwork for a large-scale reforestation and investment drive aimed at rebuilding the state’s natural wealth and enhancing its environmental resilience. To sustain the gains, the government recruited new forest guards in 2023 to replace retiring officers and ensure 24-hour patrols across both free areas and forest reserves.

To further strengthen this initiative, the state government in 2025 enlisted an additional 404 personnel into the Ekiti State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), the Agro-Marshal and the Anti-Grazing Corps; all designed to bolster rural and forest security, particularly at the grassroots level.

With safety restored, focus has now shifted to an ambitious reforestation programme powered by innovative public-private partnerships (PPP). Under these partnerships, the state has signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with private investors to establish commercial plantations designed for timber development, carbon credit generation and climate resilience.

Some notable afforestation projects already underway include those by YSJ Limited in Oke-Aro, Ogbese, and Aramoko Forest Reserves; MBH Global Resources in the Ise-Ekiti Forest Reserve; and Enshet Global Resources in the Ogbese Forest Reserve. These projects are expected to enhance biodiversity, promote carbon capture and create employment opportunities for local communities.

Beyond tree planting, the Oyebanji administration is also investing in knowledge, research and capacity building. Working with a team of experts, including the Technical Adviser on Forestry and Climate Change, Dr Olly Owen, and the Technical Adviser on Green Economy and Ecological Matters, Dr Akinyemi Akinyugha, the state successfully facilitated the establishment of an outstation of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) in Ekiti State.

The FRIN outstation, now operational at Odo-Owa Ekiti, has been provided with 20 hectares of land and a temporary office by the host community. The facility is expected to boost academic and research collaboration, providing new opportunities for students and researchers in forestry and agriculture-related disciplines across the region.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Ekiti State Forestry Commission, Mr Sunday Adekunle, the comprehensive approach being implemented by Governor Oyebanji's administration represents a major turnaround in the management of the state’s natural resources.

Through this multi-layered initiative, Governor Oyebanji’s administration is not only restoring Ekiti’s forests but also driving the state toward an environmentally sustainable economy, making it emerge as a national model for subnational leadership in climate action where economic growth and ecological preservation go pari passu.

Boluwade Roots for Oyebanji’s Continuity, Says Ekiti Agriculture on Steady Rise.

Boluwade Roots for Oyebanji’s Continuity, Says Ekiti Agriculture on Steady Rise.
By Olamide Akinwumi

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ebenezer Boluwade, has lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as the remarkable transformation of the state’s agricultural sector since the administration assumed office in 2022.

Boluwade, who spoke with newsmen in Ado Ekiti, said the sector had recorded steady growth through deliberate government interventions aimed at boosting food production, creating jobs, and encouraging youth participation in farming.

According to him, the state government had cleared over 5,000 hectares of farmland across Ekiti to enhance productivity and improve access for farmers.

He noted that one of the administration’s flagship programmes, the Bring Back Youth to Agriculture (BBYA) initiative, had empowered about 5,000 young people who are now actively involved in various agricultural ventures such as crop production, animal husbandry, and agribusiness.

“The BBYA has rekindled interest in agriculture among the youth and opened up new opportunities in the agro sector,” Boluwade said.

Speaking on efforts to address security challenges in rural farming communities, the commissioner explained that the Oyebanji-led government had intensified actions to curb open grazing and promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

He disclosed that herders were being supported with access to grass, feed, and assistance to establish ranches — measures he said would reduce clashes and promote stability in farming areas.

Boluwade further noted that the state government remained open to agribusiness and partnerships, adding that Ekiti had strengthened collaborations with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), the World Bank, and other development partners to promote climate-smart agricultural practices and improve resilience.

While congratulating Governor Oyebanji on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the 2026 governorship election, Boluwade emphasized the importance of policy consistency and continuity in governance.

“Development is a long-term process. Sustained policies and committed leadership are crucial to consolidating the gains we have made,” he added.
