The Ekiti State Government has reiterated its commitment to food security and youth empowerment with the completion of a 20-hectare agricultural project in Ikole Local Government Area.
The initiative, executed by Syriton Nig. Ltd under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, was handed over to Folnex Agro Farm, a youth-led enterprise in Ikole Ekiti.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, described the project as a testament to the administration’s resolve to boost agriculture and create employment opportunities for young people.
He noted that the project aligns with the vision of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to make agriculture a cornerstone of the state’s economic growth. According to him, the state government remains focused on reducing unemployment and tackling food insecurity through strategic investments in agriculture.
“This project is a practical demonstration of the government’s dedication to supporting youth involvement in agriculture while ensuring sustainable food production across Ekiti State. Agriculture remains a key focus area for the Oyebanji administration,” Boluwade said.
The beneficiaries, Folnex Agro Farm, expressed gratitude to the state government, emphasizing the impact of the project on their ability to engage in commercial farming and contribute to food production.
The project, situated on 20 hectares of land in Ikole Local Government Area, is expected to boost food supply, enhance local economic activities, and reduce reliance on external food sources.
Residents of the area have commended the state government for the initiative, describing it as a step towards sustainable development and youth empowerment.
With initiatives like this, the Ekiti State Government under Governor Oyebanji continues to position agriculture as a key driver of economic growth, while addressing unemployment and food security challenges across the state.
