2026: Don’t Relent in Aggressive Campaigns for Oyebanji, Deputy Gov Tells Groups.

2026: Don’t Relent in Aggressive Campaigns for Oyebanji, Deputy Gov Tells Groups.

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has urged all the support groups working for the actualisation of the 2026 second term bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to remain steadfast in their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress as a ruling party.

Mrs Afuye said Governor Oyebanji recorded resounding victory in the 2022 governorship election, winning in 15 out of the 16 Local government areas, saying the forthcoming 2026 election will be more victorious with all hands on the deck to campaign for the governor’s reelection.

Mrs Afuye said these on Thursday, while playing host to the members of a pro-Oyebanji group under the auspices of Progressive Grassroots Development and Support Foundation, who paid a visit to her office in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital.

Addressing the group, Mrs Afuye, in a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, applauded the members for being steadfast in their campaigns across the 177 wards and over 2,000 units across the state to bolster Governor Oyebanji’s popularity.

Mrs Afuye said most astounding was the aggressive campaigns being intensified by the group across the state to project the development strides of the current administration to the grassroots level for better understanding and acceptability of the government’s policies.

The Deputy Governor added that ruling APC, despite its acceptability and good performance won’t underrate the opposition in the next political battle, saying the party and government will work with all interest groups to win the election resoundingly.

“You have been working very hard, but I want you to work harder. I love your campaign strategies, which were about speaking directly to the people at the grassroots about the performance and development strides of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

“With the feedbacks we are getting, your efforts are resonating well with the people and don’t relent. Most important is the fact that you have to do this with loyalty to our governor and our party. And don’t forget that whatever you do, you will be rewarded by the party”, she said.

The group’s Coordinator , Mrs Rachael Babatunde, commended the Deputy Governor for her unflinching loyalty to her boss, saying this has ushered in stability and development under the current administration.

Mrs Babatunde clarified that the group’s support for Oyebanji stemmed from the good performance of the governor and increased dividends of democracy accruing to the citizens under his leadership.

“Let me assure you that this group is doing this campaign with all our hearts, because we knew that we have a good product in5 Governor Oyebanji to market to the people.

“We know how highly acceptability the governor is to the people, but with our campaigns across all the towns, wards and units, we will make him more popular to make his reelection easier in 2026”, Babatunde said.

Ekiti Airport gets NCAA’s approval to commence non-scheduled flight operation December 15.

Ekiti Airport gets NCAA’s approval to commence non-scheduled flight operation December 15.

Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport (EAICA) Ado-Ekiti has received the approval of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to commence non-scheduled flight operation effective December 15th, 2024.

The NCAA, in a letter dated December 11, 2024 and addressed to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, said the approval of the non-scheduled operations under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) at the airport is for a period of six months- December 15, 2024 to June 15, 2025.

The letter, which was signed by NCAA Acting Director General Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, was in response to the state government’s application for flight operational permit for the airport.

According to NCAA, the approval for a six months non-schedule operation at the airport is to enable the NCAA validate the implementation of the pending findings and to allow Ekiti State Government time to rectify a few outstanding Corrective Action items indicated in the agency’s last inspection report.

As part of compliance steps towards the commencement of the non-scheduled flight operations at the airport, operations are to be in agreement with relevant agencies for provision of essential services, including Air Traffic Services, Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services,  Aviation Security and Meteorological services.

It will be recalled that the State government had earlier signed MoUs and Service Level Agreements with these federal  aviation agencies.

The Government of Ekiti State welcomes NCAA’s approval for the non-scheduled flight operation, which allows private jets and other chartered flights to land and take off from the airport between 6.00am to 6.00pm (or sunrise to sunset),  preparatory to the final approval for commercial flight operations.

Most new airports are usually given non-scheduled flight approval to allow them clear audit gaps in their compliance before final approval for flight operational permit.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji describes the NCAA’s approval as a welcome development and a justification for the state’s investment in the airport project, which was designed to boost Ekiti State’s socioeconomic development by making the state more readily accessible.

Governor Oyebanji had earlier in the year assured  stakeholders that the Ekiti airport would become operational before the end of the year.

….Restates plan for massive food production in 2025.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has disbursed cheques worth N140million to youths engaged in commercial agriculture for the first batch of their harvest.

The young farmers were drawn from the six farm clusters in the state under the “Bring Back The Youth in Agriculture” programme of the state government in partnership with YSJ Farms Limited.

Presenting the cheques to the young farmers on Monday at Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado- Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji noted the widespread food shortage experienced across the country and globally this year, stressing that his government’s efforts in this direction would promote farming activities as well as spur the youths’ interests in commercial agriculture, with attendant financial and economic opportunities.

The Governor assured the youths that he was already liaising with investors who will provide tractors for hiring in order to effectively boost their production capacity, adding that the strategy of the state government is not to buy tractors, but to create an enabling environment for investors to bring tractors to the state to lease to farmers.

He cautioned some elements in the Ministry of Agriculture who constitute a cog in the wheel of progress in the sector to desist from their nefarious tendencies and support the zeal of government to reposition agriculture and improve on the food security agenda of government.

Speaking further, Governor Oyebanji told the excited youths that his government, had in the last 48 hours,  injected N300million into the economy of the state, which he said was in line with the shared prosperity and wealth creation agenda.

Governor Oyebanji who hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the financial support to the state, said with the support of the President, efforts are in top gear to build Renewed Hope Farm settlements in all the farm clusters in the state.

“If we are going to develop agriculture and create wealth, we have to be extremely deliberate about our procurement process. On Saturday, I was in Oke Ako, we distributed about N160million compensation to farmers whose lands were taken over six months ago and the crop planted then are already being harvested.

“I have listened to your challenges regarding accommodation, I promised you that we will provide that. The  old Awolowo farm settlement is what we are renovating, but in our budget next year, we have plan to do at least six farm settlements. With that you can leave your home go to the farm, when you are tired, you have somewhere to rest.

“For those that are collecting money today, I say congratulations and I am happy because you have seen the challenges and you are here today to eat the fruits of your labour, I know that what we passed through this year is not what we will pass through next year. He said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluade thanked the Governor for his various efforts aimed at ensuring that Ekiti people are removed from the league of poverty-stricken states with the new initiative of Agri-preneur aimed at creating  jobs in the sector for 10,000 youths and getting them out of poverty.

COMMERCIAL AGRIC: OYEBANJI PRESENTS N146 MILLION COMPENSATION  CHEQUES TO 46 LANDOWNERS AT OKE AKO.
...Lists Ecomomic Gains of utilizing land for agriculture.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, on Saturday handed out cheques to the tune of N146 million as compensation to 46 indigenes of Oke Ako Ekiti whose land were acquired for commercial agriculture.

A total 4,000 hectares of land was allocated to young farmers in the “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” scheme done in partnership with an investor, YSP Farm in Oke Ako. The project is aimed at boosting agribusiness, engage youths in commercial agriculture and open up the community and its environs for wealth creation.

Also, different range of tractors and processing equipment were inaugurated by the Governor for use by the young farmers.

The event coincided with the dry season harvest by the participants in the “Bring Back Youths in Agriculture” programme of the state government in partnership with YSJ Farms Limited.

Speaking shortly before distributing the cheques, Governor Oyebanji said he was satisfied with the takeoff of the agribusiness project despite the initial delay witnessed in a bid to resolve some issues around land acquisition.

He explained that the payment of the compensation was delayed to allow for the conclusion of enumeration of economic trees that were affected by the acquisition noting that the second round of the enumeration exercise would soon commence to pay compensation to more landowners.”

While noting that Oke Ako is an integral part of the Ekiti State Special Agriculture Processing, the Governor stressed that the centre is a great economic asset capable of becoming a hub for training of tractor drivers, assembling and repairs of tractors with expatriates on ground to train the youths.

The Governor lauded the Oke Ako community led by the Regent, Princess Tinuade Ogunbiyi for their cooperation with his administration, said commercial agricultural activities would attract rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, provision of health facilities and establishment of cottage industries capable of turning around the economy of the axis.

The Governor charged the people of the area to support YSJ Farms Limited led by Mrs. Yemisi Joluwe, who is partnering with the state government on the agriculture development project.

He explained that his administration would always provide the enabling environment for investment opportunities, empowerment of the youths and development of the grassroots economy to thrive in every part of the state.

The Governor also noted that kidnapping and other criminal activities have reduced remarkably in the area as most of the forests that served as hideouts have been cultivated under the agribusiness scheme involving the youths.

"What we are doing here today is another promise we have kept in ensuring that compensation is paid to our citizens whose land were acquired for commercial agricultural purposes.

"We are paying them the compensation for the economic trees lost to the acquisition process and for them to use the money to get another land for the continuation of their farming so that they will not be denied of their means of livelihood.

"For development to get to any place, it will be accompanied with some pains. It's just like a woman who is giving birth to a baby, she will have to endure  pain after which the pain will be overshadowed by the joy of the birth of a new baby.

"Before we remove the remaining economic trees, we will pay compensation to the owners and the presence of large scale commercial farming will bring many positive things. Factories, schools and hospitals will spring up here while we can also have tractor assembling and engineering hub."

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, said the commitment of the Governor made the payment of compensation possible.

He added that the personal appearance of the Governor bore eloquent testimony to his commitment to the growth of agriculture and ensuring food security in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Survey and e-GIS, Prof. James Olaleye, said the sacrifices of the landowners would go a long way in turning Ekiti into a leading agricultural centre in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the Bureau of Lands under his watch has been working tirelessly to ensure that land administration practices align with the vision of economic growth and food security.

The Regent of Oke Ako, Princess Ogunbiyi, hailed the Governor for attracting the investor to the community pledging the unflinching support of her people to the smooth operations of the farms.
