Ekiti First Lady Hails Senator Tinubu For Gifting Ekiti Pupils 50,000 Renewed Hope Exercise Books.

Ekiti First Lady Hails Senator Tinubu For Gifting Ekiti Pupils 50,000 Renewed Hope Exercise Books
.....Says Oyebanji's Midas' Touch in Education Yielding Positive Results in Ekiti.

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has hailed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, for donating 50,000 Exercise Books to pupils and students of public schools in the Land of Honour.

The exercise books were gifted to the benefitting children in primary and junior secondary schools under the education component of Senator Tinubu's pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

Performing the symbolic distribution of the exercise books at a ceremony held at the conference hall of her office on Thursday, Dr. Oyebanji hailed Senator Tinubu for her love and concern for children in public schools especially by coming to their aid in their educational aspiration.

Today, I performed the symbolic distribution of 50,000 Exercise Books donated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to pupils and students of public primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State under her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The gesture was informed by Senator Tinubu's quest to use the education component of her pet project, RHI, to assist children in public schools and provide them with instructional materials which translates to relief for their parents and guardians.

I also used the forum to hail the mother of the Nation for her other educational initiatives which include the Alternative School for the Girls project, provision of N1 million scholarship and a laptop to 36 students in public universities representing each of the states of the federation, among others.

The ceremony was attended by political office holders, education administrators, principals, teachers, religious leaders, parents, guardians and benefitting students and pupils who were all excited with the gifts from the nation's First Lady.

The Ekiti First Lady said the gesture was informed informed the decision of the wife of the President to use her pet project, RHI, to assist children in public schools and provide them with instructional materials which translates to relief for their parents and guardians.

Dr. Oyebanji disclosed that Senator Tinubu recently performed the groundbreaking of the Alternative School for the Girls to give opportunities to pregnant young girls who dropped out of school to continue their education and save their future from being jeopardized.

She also informed the gathering that the President's wife also gave N1 million and a laptop to 36 students representing each of the states of the federation under the RHI as a form of commitment to education without prejudice to the political affiliation of their parents.

She pointed out that both the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu and Ekiti government led by Governor Oyebanji put education on the front burner hence their investment in the sector to make learning accessible to more people.

Dr. Oyebanji, herself a senior academic, stressed that the gesture of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is another gain of continuity and synergy between the APC led governments at state and federal levels which Ekiti is benefitting immensely from.

She added: "These exercise books are more than just stationery; they are the tools that will empower our young minds to explore, learn, and dream. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the mother of the nation, H.E, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her magnanimity and support in sponsoring this noble initiative.

"Her dedication to improving the lives of our children is truly commendable and inspiring. Through her vision, we are paving the way for a brighter future for our nation.

"To our dear children, I urge you to make the most of these resources, study diligently, and strive for excellence. The future of Nigeria lies in your hands, and we believe in your potential to achieve greatness."

Dr. Oyebanji also used the forum to explain that the huge investment in education sector by her husband, Governor Biodun Oyebanji is already yielding positive results and unprecedented transformation.

According to her, the positive turnaround in the sector includes massive renovation of school structures, provision of instructional materials, recruitment and incentives for teachers and reduction of the number of out-of-school children in the state.

She pointed out that the unprecedented transformation of public schools in Ekiti which are now equipped with state-of-the-art facilities have attracted more  pupils and have led to the Land of Honour being one of the states with the lowest number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Goodwill messages were delivered by stakeholders who all appreciated the good works in the education sector by the federal government and Ekiti State government.

OMOLUABI GROUP FAULT TAKE- OFF DECISIONS BY NELFUND AND GOVERNING COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS FOR FEDERAL TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.

OMOLUABI GROUP FAULT TAKE- OFF DECISIONS BY NELFUND AND GOVERNING COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS FOR FEDERAL TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.

The recent launch and inauguration of NELFUND by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a good decision that brings  in a big relieve for Nigerian students in all tertiary institutions across the country. The benefits are so numerous which includes the  major one being the assurance of a hitch - free access to quality education by all Nigerians without any worry for financial challenges.

Be it as it may look good to Nigerians and parents, there are still loop holes and inappropriate decisions taken in this regard. Education remains the bedrock of every country' s development  either small or big. In the light of this, all benefits needed to make all and sundry tap and benefit in these privileges should never be selective.

Omoluabi Socio- cultural and Political Group express utmost dissatisfaction at the current decision of the DG and administrator of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyer on  the selective mode.for beneficiaries which at the moment is limited to students in the Federal tertiary institutions.

This decision of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund is absolutely wrong and should be corrected by the agency immediately.  There is the immediate need to include students from state tertiary institutions across the country. If not all will be listed at the moment, the list should cut across the six geopolitical zones.

Nigerian Students are one and belong to same body being the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) hence, there  should be no form of discrimination at the commencement or launch of such lofty idea.

The socio- cultural and political group also frowns at the recent constitution of the governing council of the various federal tertiary institutions across the country. The group observed keenly that most of the appointments are not merit driven but rather politicized. The appointment of Chairmen of governing council is at the prerogative of the president and commander - in- chief in this case who also doubles as the visitor to those institutions. However,  there is need to still appoint persons with the capacity to provide appropriate directions in the day-to-day running of these institutions. The positions of council members to tertiary institutions is not meant to compensate political stooges  or settle political scores or rancours.

Members of Omoluabi group across the southwestern states here by call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately call the administrator of NELFUND to order and mandate him to include selected state universities in the first batch of the loan scheme. Remember there is no existing division or discrimination among Nigerian students from time immemorial as they are expected to be treated equally with same privileges accrued them across board.

We join ASUU and other bodies to disagree with the recent appointments as list of appointees should cut across the six geopolitical zones to reflect national unity.

We are certain that Mr. President may not be aware of this situation but the need to be properly informed for proper amendment

As a group, we keep a keen watch on the activities of government to provide direction where and when need be. As the Tinubu- led administration is about to clock one year in office by May 29th, 2024 we shall begin to access the performance of his administration henceforth.

Nigerians are waiting for the best to come. We told them you are adequately prepared for governance so there is need to step-up in achieving your campaign promises premised on the 'Renewed Hope Agenda' mantra.

Benefits Of Gov Oyebanji's US Trip more Important To Ekiti People than "Beer Parlour" Gossip - PDP Chief.

Benefits Of Gov Oyebanji's US Trip more Important To Ekiti People than "Beer Parlour" Gossip - PDP Chief.

A chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka, has declared that what well-meaning people of the State are interested in are visible benefits of the trip made to the United States of America, by the Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, saying he will not bring himself to the ridiculous level of raising issues over a governor's trip abroad.

Olayinka said he was not interested in any "beer parlour gossip" by a notorious online platform noted for the blackmail of public office holders as to when the governor will return and how much was spent.

Responding to questions by journalists, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Olayinka, said Ekiti and its people will no longer be available to be lied to by people who have consistently created the image of crisis for the State, thereby stagnating its development.

He said; "As a member of opposition party, I cannot bring myself to that childish level of criticising a governor for traveling abroad for one or two weeks. PDP governors also travel abroad and they are not probably spending their personal money on trips that are official.

"This is particularly because this online medium that published the story being referred to has the unenviable record of lying against all the governors that ruled Ekiti State. From Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Ayo Fayose, Segun Oni, Kayode Fayemi, all Ekiti Governors have been painted black by this platform.

"Therefore, as for me, the question I will be asking as per the Governor's first 'official trip' abroad is about what he has brought to the State, now that he has returned.

"For instance, I will love to hear from the Governor how much in terms of investments the trip is bringing to the State, and will love to follow up by seeing that whatever he says comes to reality.

"I am not interested in all these beer parlour talks of the Governor spending more time than necessary or that $500,000 was spent on a trip that is yet to be concluded."
