In a commendable effort to support local widows, the Divine Intervention Impact Foundation, in collaboration with Lagosfoodbank, organized a community food outreach program on Thursday, May 23rd, at Vitalink Academy, Ketu Adie-Owe, Igbesa, Ogun State. The initiative aimed to provide food items and essential services to the participants.
The event, titled "Mental Health Awareness," featured a key address by Mrs. Okene Oluwafunmilayo, the director of the foundation. She sensitized the participants on the issue of depression, highlighting the impact of Nigeria's current economic situation on mental health. "The current situation in Nigeria can lead to depression, especially when widows think about the cost of living, school fees, and housing. It takes the grace of God to navigate these challenges," Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo explained. She further discussed the symptoms, causes, and management strategies for depression, emphasizing the importance of addressing mental health issues promptly.
The program, which included the distribution of food items and other supportive initiatives, was warmly received by the community. Mrs. Elizabeth Oyelola, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude, saying, "I pray that the Lord continues to bless Divine Intervention Impact Foundation and Lagosfoodbank for their supportive initiative."
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Foluke Olubode, underscored the significance of such acts of kindness in fostering societal unity. "This kind attitude is what society needs to promote unity. I pray that no calamity befalls Divine Intervention Impact Foundation and Lagosfoodbank," she said.
Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo also expressed her appreciation for the volunteers who helped make the event a success. She prayed for more blessings, success, and prosperity for everyone involved, highlighting the collective effort in serving humanity.
The outreach program not only provided immediate relief to the widows but also underscored the foundation's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. The collaboration with Lagosfoodbank significantly enhanced the program's impact, demonstrating the power of collective efforts in addressing community needs.
The Divine Intervention Impact Foundation's community food outreach serves as a testament to the positive impact that dedicated organizations can have on society, fostering hope and resilience among those facing challenging circumstances.
