MATNA Foods Drives PINDWISE Farmer Onboarding Across Ondo Communities, Targets 3,000 Young Farmers.
As part of its commitment to advancing inclusive agricultural development and strengthening rural livelihoods, MATNA Foods Limited has intensified the implementation of the PINDWISE Project across several communities in Ondo State.
The sensitization and beneficiary onboarding activities took place in Uso, Erusu-Akoko, Auga, Ise, and Ajowa-Akoko communities, introducing prospective participants to the project’s objectives, implementation framework, and the opportunities available under the initiative.
As the implementing partner for the PINDWISE Project in Ondo State, MATNA Foods Limited is spearheading efforts to empower young farmers, increase agricultural productivity, and drive sustainable socioeconomic growth across rural communities.
Speaking during the engagement sessions, the Project Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Obe, disclosed that the project aims to onboard 3,000 Young and Emerging Farmers (YOFs) between the ages of 18 and 35.
According to Obe, the initiative prioritizes inclusion and equitable participation, with women expected to constitute 80 per cent of all beneficiaries. Additionally, five per cent of participants will be Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs), while one per cent will comprise Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Obe explained that beneficiaries will receive support to cultivate approximately 1,200 hectares of farmland, creating opportunities for increased crop production, enhanced incomes, and sustainable livelihoods.
The strong turnout and enthusiasm demonstrated by farmers, community leaders, and other stakeholders reflected growing confidence in the project’s potential to transform agricultural value chains and improve livelihoods across Ondo State.
