YAN Ekiti Assembly Congratulates Oyebanji on Re-election Victory.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ekiti State Chapter, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his resounding victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, describing his re-election as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance and leadership style.

In a congratulatory message signed by the Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Ekiti State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oluwatosin A.S., the youth body said Governor Oyebanji’s historic victory reflected the confidence and trust reposed in him by the people of Ekiti State.

The Assembly noted that the outcome of the election was a testament to the governor’s commitment to good governance, inclusive leadership, and sustainable development, which it said had positively impacted various sectors across the state.

According to the Assembly, the overwhelming support received by the governor at the polls demonstrates the collective appreciation of Ekiti people for the developmental strides recorded under his administration and their desire for continuity in governance.

“The victory is not only a personal achievement for Governor Oyebanji but also a validation of the policies and programmes that have brought progress, peace, and prosperity to the state,” the statement read.

YAN further commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct before, during, and after the election, describing the exercise as a reflection of the state's democratic maturity and political stability.

The youth legislative body reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, human capital development, and the promotion of democratic values. It pledged to continue engaging stakeholders in advancing programmes that would enhance opportunities for young people across the state.

While wishing the governor a successful second term in office, the Assembly prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for him as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, expressed optimism that Governor Oyebanji’s renewed mandate would usher in greater achievements and accelerated development, particularly in areas that directly impact the welfare and aspirations of the youth population.

Governor Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 319,224 votes across the state's 16 local government areas. He defeated his closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Oluwole Oluyede, who secured 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Chief Dare Bejide, garnered 12,872 votes, thereby earning a fresh mandate to continue his administration's development agenda for another four years.
