.....Promises to work for Party victory in guber Election

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele has assured the good people of Ekiti Central constituency of his readiness to continue to build on the foundational legacy he has laid.

Opeyemi who also doubles as Chairman of Southern Senators Forum of the 9th Assembly also maintained that he would never take the decision of the leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State to return him back to Senate through an unopposed party ticket for granted.

MOB as he us fondly called  in a statement issued by his media office after he was screened by the APC Senatorial Screening Panel in Abuja pledged to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the party emerged victorious at the forthcoming June 18, 2022, Governorship Elections in the State. 

He commended the Screening Committee for proper organisation and conduct of the screening process .

"I do not take it for granted that I am being returned unopposed as the Flagbearer of our party in the 2023 Ekiti Central Senatorial elections.

" It means so much to me, I am grateful to the leadership of APC in Ekiti State and grateful to the leadership of the party at the National level. I am also grateful to the people of Ekiti Central Senatorial District for this honor. I don't take it for granted at all.

 That no one is running against me in this race for the ticket of the party is an endorsement of my humble efforts in ensuring effective representation in the Senate in the last three years. It is also an acknowledgment by the leadership of the party and members of the party that I could be entrusted with the position of an elected Representative of the people and one of the leaders of our people in this tough time"

 "It is not that we don't have equally qualified people or eligible people who can obtain the form. But the fact that this has not happened and the leadership of the party has done so much to ensure that I am given a smooth ride to be the candidate of the party, is, to me a sincere and profound effort and from whom to whom much is given, much is also expected.

" It  is a call to further and greater duty.  I will do everything possible to ensure the unity of the party through meaningful reconciliation where it is still necessary to do so and to ensure to drive a process in which there will be integrity and mutual trust."

On Ekiti Governorship Election, MOB declared that he will be going back home, to an  immediate assignment, which is  to go and campaign thoroughly and vigorously to ensure the victory of our party in the June 18 Governorship Election in Ekiti

One of the leading aspirant in Ifelodun, Boripe, Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Hon Engr Victor Oladunni has given kudos to Gov Gboyega Oyetola for fulfilling his promises to the people of Osun.

Victor Oladunni made this statement through his MEDIA TEAM while addressing loyal party members at Ijabe, Odo-Otin North Osun State. In a release available to the press in Osogbo Osun State.

Hon Victor Oladunni praised Mr Governor for his benevolence and goodwill in respect of the souls which were lost and those who were affected by one or the other during the ENDSAS protest which was one of the most volatile and unusual protests in the history of the Nation.

Engr Victor said the sum of 53,000,000.00 being distributed as a compensation shows that Gov Gboyega Oyetola patently shares their pains. Hon Oladunni now prayed that a resurgence of this event will not repeat itself again.

He also urged the youth to always ally with the government to settle any grievances they might have with the powers that be. "This will nip in the bud any chances of miscreants hijacking protests being made by the Youths. He said though protests are part of Democracy but notwithstanding we must give room for dialogue to allow peace to reign in our society," Engr Victor Oladunni said.

Aftermath of his Withdrawal from the Ilaje/Ese-Odo MHR race: Prince Akinyomi Monday Hosts his team in Ese-Odo Local Government

Prince Akinyomi Monday PAM, one of the leading aspirant for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency who had earlier withdrawn his ambition hosted his team in Ese-Odo Local Government in appreciation of their unalloyed support and commitment towards his ambition. 

At the get together, PAM appreciated his supporters,  stakeholders, well-wishers and most especially his teams for their overwhelming support, understanding and cooperation as well as keeping faith in him.

According to him, "I am using this event to show my undiluted appreciation to all my supporters, well-wishers and particularly members of my team across Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency for their unflinching support throughout the struggle.”

He further urged them to be strong and focus for better future. "Be strong now, because things will get better. It might be stormy now but certainly, it can't rain forevers. This is a movement that has come to stay forever."

Earlier, he described his withdrawal decision-making as a tough one but has to do it in orders to respect the decisions of the party leaders and to promote unity in the party.

Ekiti 2022: Afuye and his many Dribbles

.....Tales of an inconsistent crusader turned politician

Little is known about the ADP Deputy gubernatorial candidate Mr. Idowu Afuye who today stunned many few weeks to the governorship election in the state jumped ship from the ADP party where he was the deputy governorship aspirant to Erelu Halle Elebute in the election that will come up on June 18th 2022.

He first came into spotlight when he started championing the cause of the southern agenda where  candidates from the two prominent parties in the state were jostling that by rotation it was the turn the of the region to produce a governor in the state. In a twist of event, maybe having studied the political weakness of the southern politicians, Mr. Idowu Afuye turned a crusader overnight patronising all the southern politicians that anything short of the region producing the next governor will not be acceptable.

He had on many occasions gathered what chinua Achebe termed "efulefu" in his book " Arrow of God" that is people of no record to himself set up a campaign and was funded by southern politicians who thought he was doing them a great service. 

Late last year, the self leader of the Southern agenda called for  press conferences, initiated campaigns and walks threatening brimstone and fire to the executive governor of the state Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and the APC state executives that the party will lose the forthcoming guber election if it fails to present its candidate from the southern region. In his words " anybody from South who accepted anything short of Governor is a bastard, in fact Deputy is a big no"

One now wonder what went wrong when he suddenly appeared on the bill board with Erelu Elebute Halle who was contesting for the position of the governor on the platform of the ADP, what's more, Idowu Afuye in a flowing Agbada had Deputy written on his picture. It didn't come to my person as a shock but my shock was how on earth he got Elebute to accept him as her running mate. One thing, that should be considered in our day to day dealings is integrity and I doubt if Afuye has one. If you are going back on your words then people should not take you serious. I knew the romance would not last long because my investigation on Afuye reveals he is just out to where his bread will be buttered, a close source confided in me  that he thought Erelu Bambam had enough goodies he presumably jumped ship when he noticed all that glitters are not gold.

Whoever, advised Elebute to take Afuye with her on the political journey has done her a great disservice and as the Yoruba song will say " ti a ba fe bani rinrin ajo, ka mo eni ti a n barin" it appears madam Halle hardly knows who she took to be a confidant.

Anyways, Afuye has jumped ship today declaring for the candidate of the All progressive Congress and telling the world that the ADP candidate  has no focus or strength to win the election. The question is, did he just woke up to reality or has the honey finished in the pot? Only Afuye can say.

The latest from his mouth was that he is coming or will woo 20,000 supporters for BAO the APC candidate, this is funny because even Afuye himself knows he can't woo 100 people to the party. This defection is another of his numerous antics to butter his bread or possibly get an appointment should the candidate win.

Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is already a force to be reckoned with in this political race and should he emerge, his victory has no connection with Afuye's defection in fact his coming into the party is more or less a liability.

I won't be surprised if in the next four years our comrade storms the street again for another season of money making venture which he has masters so well.

Ekiti Guber Election: TEI Dialogues with stakeholders on successful Election

The Electoral Institute (TEI) has held its Maiden Edition of dialogue on subsequent elections in Nigeria even as the election that will usher in a new government in Ekiti State come June 18 2022 draws closer.

The event  took place   at Hassanat Event centre on Thursday 12th May 2022  in Ado Ekiti the Ekiti state capital.

"The Policy Dialogue on Ekiti State Governorship Election 2022: A Litmus Test For Election Administration in Nigeria Under The Dispensation of the New Electoral Act 2022 " was the paper delivered by Prof Christopher Oluwadare, a lecturer from the Department of Sociology, Ekiti state University.

Earlier, the Director General of The Electoral Institute, Dr. SA'AD Umar Idris represented by Dr. Ibrahim Sanni  in his address said it was imperative for the Institute to brainstorm and seek solutions to the probable issues in conducting elections especially Ekiti governorship election which will serve as a testing ground  for the new and amended Electoral act  whether there are still bottle necks the Act is yet to address which maybe evident in the election.

The lead discussant, Professor Christopher Oluwadare  highlighted some of the challenges the electoral body, Security agencies and even the electorates are facing during elections which has caused low turn out of voters, intimidation and sometimes violence.

Some of the challenges discussed includes; Low voter's turn out, vote buying,vote trading and vote merchandise. The Electoral Act 2022 and express deployment of technology and violence which has long being part of the electoral system in Nigeria was tabled as participants bare their minds on issues confronting the electorates especially vote buying, intimidation and lack of orientation.

The Resident Electoral commissioner Ekiti State Dr. Tella Niran and Professor Sam Egwu Inec Electoral commissioner Niger State also joined the lead discussant in tabling the challenges and offered probable long lasting solutions to the challenges.

The discussants all agreed that the Inec need to step up her game in maintaining composure and intensity the populace on the need to be actively involved in Electoral processes. Security agents were also tasked to properly monitor the election and ensured that the electorates are protected before during and after the elections.

Responding the commissioner of police ably represented by Superintendent Babayemi assured the stakeholders of the readiness of the police force to maintain law and order during the forthcoming elections he  also appealed to the general public to help security agents by reporting people of susceptible characters,  being vigilant and watchful all the time.

 In his address, Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, Chairman Board of Electoral Institute conveyed the goodwill of the Inec chairman Professor Yakubu Mahmood stating the fact that apart from some challenges encountered the Inec has performed creditably well in the Anambra and FCT council elections. He was  of the opinion that the Ekiti election serve as an avenue to test run some the policies embedded in  new constitution Electoral Acts.

The participants include; NGO's, NCO's, Security agencies,Inec, Media, Market leaders and Artisans.
