SENATOR ADARAMODU’S BILL FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INNOVATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION CENTRE IN OMUO-EKITI SCALES SECOND READING IN THE SENATE.

The Nigerian Senate on 11th November, 2025 considered and passed for Second Reading a bill sponsored by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, seeking the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Communication Technology Solution Center in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The bill, which aims to institutionalize a robust framework for digital transformation, capacity building, and technology-driven research, has now been referred to the relevant Senate Committee for further legislative action and public hearing.

In his lead debate, Senator Adaramodu highlighted the strategic importance of the proposed center in advancing national development through artificial intelligence, digital literacy, and ICT-driven innovation. He explained that the initiative would serve as a hub for youth empowerment, research collaboration, and the incubation of technology solutions relevant to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.

“The establishment of this center will not only promote digital innovation and research but will also create new employment opportunities and nurture a generation of technologically skilled Nigerian youths,” Adaramodu emphasized.

The lawmaker further noted that Omuo-Ekiti, being a fast-growing educational and economic community in Ekiti South Senatorial District, provides a suitable environment for hosting such a strategic institution that aligns with the Federal Government’s digital economy and innovation agenda.

With the bill now advancing to the public hearing stage, stakeholders from academia, industry, and youth development sectors are expected to contribute their perspectives toward fine-tuning the proposed legislation before its eventual passage.

The move underscores Senator Adaramodu’s commitment to championing youth development, digital innovation, and research-driven governance within and beyond Ekiti State.
