Ekiti 2026: UK-based APC member congratulates Oyebanji on winning party ticket again.

Ekiti 2026: UK-based APC member congratulates Oyebanji on winning party ticket again.

A United Kingdom-based member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Barrister Gbenga Ojo, has congratulated the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2026 governorship election.

In a congratulatory message issued through his media team, Ojo described the governor’s affirmation as the party’s flagbearer as proof of his good deeds, visionary leadership and commitment to the development of Ekiti State.

Ojo, an indigene of Ilogbo-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, noted that the leaders of the party across the state made the right decision by giving the ticket again to a man who has brought peace and stability to Ekiti State.

“Governor Oyebanji became the first person in the history of the state to win the governorship ticket through consensus. His native intelligence and ability to work harmoniously with all stakeholders in the state were the reasons he was able to win the hearts of the Ekiti people.

“With what we are seeing, there will be a resounding victory for the party in the general election because the people of the state are in love with Governor Oyebanji. I have interacted with some members of the opposition, and it seems even they desire continuity,” Ojo said.

Ojo also commended members of the APC in Ekiti for their unity and support for the governor, urging them to remain steadfast ahead of the 2026 polls.

He stressed that the coming election should be seen as an opportunity to consolidate the gains of the Oyebanji administration rather than a contest of bitterness.

“What the governor needs now is our collective support to sustain the ongoing development across sectors from infrastructure and education to youth empowerment and rural transformation. Ekiti is on the path of progress and it is our duty as loyal party members to ensure continuity,” he added.

Ojo, a legal practitioner based in the United Kingdom, has been an active member of the APC diaspora community and a consistent advocate of good governance and youth inclusion in Ekiti politics.

He expressed confidence that Oyebanji’s second term, if given the mandate by the people, would further entrench good governance, inclusive leadership, and socio-economic advancement in the state.

The APC governorship primary in Ekiti State, which produced Oyebanji as a consensus candidate, has been widely hailed by party members and stakeholders as a model of internal democracy and unity within the party.
