Ekiti State took another bold step in advancing digital healthcare education on Wednesday as Governor Biodun Oyebanji commissioned a 250-capacity Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the College of Nursing Sciences, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti.


The ultra-modern ICT facility, equipped with cutting-edge computers, networking systems, and solar-powered backup, underscores the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for educational and healthcare excellence in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji explained that the new ICT Centre was designed to improve education and healthcare training through technology, ensuring that nursing students are better equipped for 21st-century medical practice.

 “This centre is more than just a computer hub—it is a gateway to modern healthcare education,” Oyebanji said.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world clinical applications by leveraging digital technology.”


The governor reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain the momentum of progress through strategic investments in education, healthcare, roads, and technology, pledging that similar facilities would be replicated across other state-owned institutions.

The newly inaugurated Health Technology ICT Centre features an extensive range of digital and infrastructural components, including computing systems, network infrastructure, renewable energy backup, and modern audio-visual facilities aimed at promoting digital health innovation among nursing students.


This project also included the following items to support the digital transformation of healthcare training:

The new ICT Centre is expected to serve as a transformative hub for digital learning, enabling students to acquire hands-on experience with modern healthcare technologies, simulation systems, and virtual learning tools.

Experts at the event noted that the facility would also enhance research, online collaboration, and telemedicine readiness among nursing students—ensuring that Ekiti produces health professionals capable of adapting to global digital health standards.


Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a technologically empowered healthcare workforce, adding that similar ICT facilities would soon be replicated across other tertiary institutions in the state.


With this development, Ekiti State continues to position itself as a model for digital innovation in education and healthcare across Nigeria.
