The Ogun State government, under the leadership of Commissioner for Transportation Engr Dairo Olugbenga, has announced plans to commence the construction of bus stations to facilitate the implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mass Transit scheme along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway axis.
The upcoming bus stations will be strategically located within key areas along the expressway, including Mowe, Ibafo, Arepo, and Berger. These locations were chosen to optimize the accessibility and efficiency of the CNG Mass Transit scheme along the ever-busy expressway.
Engr Dairo Olugbenga shared this development while participating in a radio program in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Thursday. The announcement underscores the state government's commitment to enhancing public transportation infrastructure and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly transit options.
The introduction of the CNG Mass Transit scheme is expected to bring notable benefits, including reduced carbon emissions, cost-effectiveness, and increased energy efficiency in the public transportation sector. The choice of strategic locations for the bus stations aims to cater to the transportation needs of commuters along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway corridor.
As the construction of these bus stations commences, it signals a proactive step by the Ogun State government to address the evolving transportation landscape, providing residents with modern, environmentally friendly, and efficient transit options. The project aligns with the state's broader vision for a sustainable and well-connected transportation network, ultimately contributing to improved mobility and quality of life for its citizens.
