Members of the ICAN Ilesa District Society made a momentous visit to Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, on Friday, September 15, 2023. The purpose of their visit was to extend heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Taiwo Asaolu on his appointment as the pioneering Vice Chancellor of this esteemed institution.

Warmly received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, the delegation from ICAN Ilesa District Society was honored to meet other distinguished members of the University's management, including Mr. Funso Ojo, the Registrar, and Dr. Mukaila Oyekanmi, the Bursar. During their visit, the members of the ICAN Ilesa District Society expressed their genuine delight at the remarkable progress achieved by Prof. Taiwo Asaolu and his dedicated management team in the relatively short time since assuming office.
Among the notable accomplishments that drew commendation from the visitors was the recent approval of 32 academic programs for the University by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Equally deserving of praise were the efforts undertaken to enhance the aesthetic charm of the University's campus, which included renovating aging structures, conducting comprehensive staff training programs, and other noteworthy initiatives.
After receiving a gracious welcome, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu led the ICAN Ilesa District Society on a comprehensive tour of various ongoing projects strategically designed to prepare for the return of students. These visionary projects encompassed the construction of the Faculty of Law eLibrary, a state-of-the-art auditorium, pedestrian-friendly walkways, modern general students' hostels, the advanced Faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences Central laboratory, and the recently commissioned Solar Power project for the University eLibrary.
The members of the ICAN Ilesa District Society were greatly impressed by the substantial infrastructural developments observed during the tour. Their visit culminated with heartfelt prayers for the continuous excellence of Prof. Taiwo Asaolu and his accomplished management team, as well as for the University itself to ascend to even greater heights in its pursuit of academic excellence.
This visit by the ICAN Ilesa District Society not only serves as a testament to the impressive accomplishments of the Vice Chancellor and the University but also underscores the vital importance of fostering collaboration and engagement between academic institutions and their neighboring communities.
