Consensus of Trust in Three Years of Steady Leadership.

Consensus of Trust in Three Years of Steady Leadership.
By Idowu Ephraim Faleye +2348132100608

In Ekiti State, a powerful message of unity and confidence has just been sent. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as its sole candidate for the next governorship election through a consensus built on trust, loyalty, and performance. This decision is not just political; it reflects the people’s collective belief that good leadership deserves continuity.

Governor Oyebanji’s endorsement by consensus is the natural result of three years of steady, result-driven leadership. His calm approach, humility, and accessibility have earned him deep respect across political lines. Under his watch, Ekiti has witnessed meaningful progress in infrastructure, education, youth development, and human capital investment. His leadership is defined by quiet efficiency, and by genuine service, not self-interest.

The consensus that produced him was born out of sincerity, not imposition. Across all parts of the state, voices called for continuity because the people could see and feel the difference his administration has made. Civil servants, artisans, traditional rulers, and young people have experienced positive changes that speak louder than promises. The numerous endorsements that followed were simply the people’s way of saying, “Let the good work continue.”

The people of the state have spoken clearly — “We endorse you for continuity.” In response, the APC as a responsible political party has said, “We cannot deny the will of the people.” The party, therefore, chose to present Governor Oyebanji to the electorate through consensus, recognizing that his leadership reflects the genuine aspirations of the people and the collective desire for sustained progress.

Governor Oyebanji’s competence and calm strength stand out. He listens before he acts, carries everyone along, and leads without arrogance. His inclusive leadership has united the party, reduced friction, and strengthened the APC’s internal harmony. In a political climate often marked by rivalry, Ekiti has become an example of peace and maturity under his guidance.

Loyalty remains one of his strongest traits. From his early days in public service to his rise as governor, Oyebanji has remained faithful to the APC and to the ideals that shaped him. He acknowledges his political mentors, respects party structures, and still makes independent, thoughtful decisions. This blend of loyalty and wisdom has earned him trust both within the party and among ordinary citizens.

His ability to unite people across divides also explains why the consensus was smooth and widely accepted. He has built bridges where walls once stood. In a state once known for political tension, he has restored calm, respect, and a sense of shared purpose.

The APC’s decision to adopt him through consensus is, therefore, more than a political strategy; it is a reward for competence, loyalty, and inclusive leadership. It shows that the people and the party want to build on what works instead of starting afresh. By choosing agreement over competition, the party has reaffirmed its unity and strengthened the foundation of progress in Ekiti.

As Governor Oyebanji marks his third anniversary in office, this endorsement serves as a strong validation of his leadership. It sends a clear message: the people trust you, your work speaks for you, and we want you to continue. It is both a celebration of the journey so far and a renewal of confidence in the future.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s story is a reminder that leadership is not about loudness but impact, not about division but unity, and not about power but service. His steady hands and open heart have brought stability and direction to Ekiti State.

As Ekiti people celebrate three years of purposeful governance, the consensus that surrounds him represents more than politics — it represents hope. It is a consensus of trust, built on performance, peace, and shared vision.

Congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his well-deserved consensus endorsement and his remarkable three years of steady leadership. May his tenure continue to strengthen unity, deepen progress, and inspire lasting development across Ekiti State.

Ekiti 2026: Governor Oyebanji Extends Olive Branch to Co-Contestants, Says “No Victory, No Vanquish”.

Ekiti 2026: Governor Oyebanji Extends Olive Branch to Co-Contestants, Says “No Victory, No Vanquish”.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, has once again demonstrated uncommon political maturity by placing the peace and unity of our great party — the All Progressives Congress (APC)  above personal ambition or political rivalry.

In a rare display of political mayirity on Thursday, Mr. Governor urged his supporters and all APC members to embrace unity ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election, emphasizing that the contest for the party’s ticket is a family affair. He declared, “There is no victor, no vanquish,  we are all winners.”

It would be recalled that four party members: Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, Engineer Kayode Ojo, Mrs. Abimbola Olawumi, and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo  had earlier expressed interest in the APC governorship ticket. Following the screening exercise by the APC National Working Committee, Governor Oyebanji and Mrs. Omolayo were cleared for the primaries slated for October 27, while Ojo and Olawumi were disqualified. Subsequently, Mrs. Omolayo graciously withdrew from the race, paving the way for Governor Oyebanji to emerge as the consensus candidate of the party.

Commending this gesture of inclusion, the Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV), the foremost grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation movement for continuity of good governance  lauded the Governor for extending a hand of friendship to his co-contestants. The group praised his magnanimity in declaring that “nobody has lost this contest; in truth, we have all won. Let us celebrate with grace, not insult anyone.”

In the same spirit, OSV appealed to all contestants, especially Engineer Kayode Ojo, to consider the larger interest of the APC, the good people of Ekiti State, and the vision of Mr. President, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who graciously appointed him as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti.

The group further called on all political leaders across Ekiti State to promptly follow up on this olive branch extended by the Governor by reabsorbing and integrating all party members and supporters into the fold. According to the group, this act of unity is essential to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2026/2027 electoral cycle and to sustain the legacy of good governance already being championed by Governor Oyebanji.

"This has moved Ekiti from the 33rd largest State to the 28th since APC was given the mandate to govern the State. Both sectors contribute 60% to the State’s economy.

"It is for this reason that we have intentionally given more attention to trade, investment and agriculture since they have proved to be area of our comparative advantage.

More importantly, food security is human security, as it is said that a hungry man is an angry man.

"Our policies  are geared at massive cluster farming, food prices reduction, harvest wastage elimination and bringing new energy, innovation and modern agricultural practices to farming. As a result, we have deliberately come up with incentives to bring the youths back to agriculture.

"To achieve large scale farming, our administration has been able to clear up to 5,000 hectares of land for youths, communities, individual farmers and cooperatives for intensive agricultural production."

He disclosed that the State Agricultural Processing Zone is home to some big players in Agric-value chains that are already generating hundreds of employment adding that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in partnership with YSJ Limited, under a public private partnership arrangement, is setting up a Soya Oil Bottling, Rice and Shea Butter processing facility in Ikere-Ekiti.

I 'll Make Quality Healthcare a Right for Every Ekiti Citizen - Oyebanji.
...Commissions drug warehouse, distributes equipment to PHCs.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has promised to ensure quality healthcare becomes a right for all  citizens and not a privilege, in order to ensure improved life expectancy and sustain the mileage reached in the control of child and maternal mortality rates.

The Governor said his administration has resolved to fight headon, the menace of drug counterfeiting that could predispose the citizens to sudden death and surge of emergency ailments that have capacity to cause death and infirmity in the society.

Oyebanji stated these in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday while flagging off distribution of equipment to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and the commissioning of the Pharma-Grade Warehouse located within the precinct of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

Governor Oyebanji said Primary Healthcare facility is significant to improved life expectancy, being the closest and most affordable to the people at the grassroots.

He stated that  the new pharma-grade warehouse of the Drug Management Agency and the distribution of medical equipment to PHCs facilities, are demonstration of government’s commitment to the health of the people and a reflection of growing capacity to attract partnerships and investments that strengthen the economy and improve the quality of lives.

He disclosed that the  warehouse, built with the support of the Global Fund, stands  as a key pillar of an effective and transparent drug management system and provides the Drug Management Agency with the infrastructure it needs to operate at the highest professional standard.

Oyebanji was upbeat that the facility will ensure the continuous availability of quality, safe, and affordable medical supplies for hospitals and health facilities across the state.

Speaking further at the colourful event, Governor Oyebanji revealed that the Agency’s average monthly revenue has spiraled from ₦28 million to ₦75 million, demonstrating greater efficiency, accountability, and sustainability of drug supply system.

He was enthralled that  about 200,000 Ekiti residents have benefitted from Ulera Wa health services, and nearly 750,000 people have benefited since the inception of the initiative that had reduced out-of-pocket expenditure for health services, and bolster access to quality healthcare.

'With this facility, Ekiti State now has the capacity to maintain an adequate supply of medicines and consumables, prevent frequent stock-outs, and effectively curb the circulation of fake and substandard drugs within our borders. It represents not just an investment in infrastructure, but in the health security of our people.

"The results speak for themselves. Before the establishment of the Drug Management Agency, only about 43% of health facilities in the state had regular access to essential medicines. Today, that figure has risen to 89%. Primary healthcare coverage now stands at 80%, while both secondary and tertiary facilities have achieved 100% coverage'.

Oyebanji added that the revitalization of 103 primary health care facilities across the 16 local government areas under the World Bank-supported IMPACT project, was a strategic investment that will  complement the  broader push toward Universal Health Coverage.

The Governor stated that his government is making  deliberate efforts to improve the welfare of health workers through enhanced salary structures and had approved the employment of 100 additional health workers for PHCs and 150 for Secondary Health Facilities to close existing manpower gaps.

Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, said  the speedy way with which the Governor approved the counterpart funding, was responsible for the approval given to the State to have the warehouse, noting  that Ekiti was initially not on the radar of states to benefit from the project.

Dr Filani stated that  the equipment provided for the PHCs across the wards and the 16 local governments will enhance the proficiency of health workers and help in tackling child and maternal mortality, morbidity and broaden access to healthcare at the grassroots level.

"This project could not have been achieved, but for the speedy way the governor approved the counterpart funding for the project. This is not only way of fulfilling a vision of his administration, but he has done it for the entire people of the state who are expecting improved healthcare delivery and I know they will be grateful to this administration for this project".

The General Manager, Ekiti State Drug Management and Supply Agency, Pharm Olajide Kolawole, said the project was remarkable, owing to the fact that it was the first in the country and a loud testament to the shared prosperity and avowed promise to give every citizen a safe, improved and secured healthcare delivery.

In a bid to attain Universal Health Coverage, Kolawole , said  the agency has signed a memorandum.of understanding with reputable international agencies to ensure effective drug acquisition, regulation  and supply in the state.
