Akin Rotimi, Jr.,  has felicitated with youth of the constituency on the occasion of International Youth Day, commending them for the crucial role they are playing in the development of the communities in the constituency.

According to Hon. Rotimi: "Nigerian youth are over 70% of the entire population, and it is in our strategic interest as a country to prioritise addressing issues that affect them. International Youth Day is marked annually across the world on August 12, and is designated by the United Nations as an awareness day to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The first IYD was observed on 12 August, 2000. The theme for this year's observance is "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World". According to the United Nations: "Today, the world is embarking on a green transition. The shift towards an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly world is critical not only for responding to the global climate crisis but also for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A successful transition towards a greener world will depend on the development of green skills in the population. Green skills are “knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society”.

Further, Hon. Rotimi stated that this year's theme is a call to action, and underscores the potential role of youth in sustainable development and confronting climate change and its impact, if empowered and provided the enabling environment. He concluded by calling on all stakeholders to support young people to be at the forefront of building a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable world, saying our future depends on our youth.

In a remarkable turn of events, Mr. Fatai Ogunsakin, a bricklayer who has been grappling with elephantiasis since 1975, encountered a stroke of luck as he came face to face with the compassionate Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, in Ado- Ekiti on Saturday.

Fatai's long and arduous journey took a positive turn as he shared his harrowing ordeal with the empathetic Governor at the entrance gate of Adetiloye Hall, Ado- Ekiti.

Hailing from Ado Ekiti, Fatai Ogunsakin was born in 1969, filled with dreams and aspirations like any other child. However, his life took an unexpected turn in 1975, when he was a bricklaying apprentice. It was during this time that the insidious grip of elephantiasis first took hold of him, altering the course of his life in ways he could never have foreseen.

For years, Fatai faced the physical and emotional burden of elephantiasis, a condition characterized by the severe swelling of limbs and other body parts. Despite his best efforts, the ailment gradually robbed him of his mobility and independence, creating a life of suffering and isolation. Fatai's story is a testament to his resilience, as he endured the challenges imposed by this debilitating condition for decades until fate intervened when he found himself in the presence of Governor Biodun Oyebanji during the last day of the 3-Day Retreat for State Executive drivers at Adetiloye, Ado Ekiti.

Fatai's heartfelt narrative struck a chord with the Governor, who swiftly took action to alleviate his suffering.

Demonstrating his exemplary leadership, Governor Oyebanjj directed his Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani to assume responsibility for Fatai's case. With a sense of urgency and compassion, the Governor ensured that Fatai's plight would not go unnoticed or unaddressed any longer.

Under the Governor’s guidance, Fatai was promptly directed to receive comprehensive treatment at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti. This will no doubt mark a turning point in Fatai's decades-long struggle, as he was finally given a ray of hope for recovery and relief from the clutches of elephantiasis.

Fatai's story serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of compassionate leadership. Governor Biodun Oyebanji's unwavering commitment to his constituents' well-being exemplifies the essence of public service and the positive impact it can have on individual lives.

As Fatai embarks on a new chapter of his journey toward healing, his encounter with the Governor stands as a testament to the potential for change and progress, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Death, the enigmatic counterpart to life, is a reality that awaits all living beings. It is a subject that evokes fear, contemplation, and reverence. The mystery of what lies beyond this mortal realm has sparked countless philosophical and religious debates.

• The Inevitability of Death: Death is an inherent aspect of life's cycle. As much as we may try to avoid it, death remains a natural and unavoidable outcome.

III. The Interplay of Life and Death:
• The Yin and Yang of Existence: Life and death are not isolated events but rather interconnected aspects of existence. One cannot fully appreciate the beauty of life without acknowledging the finiteness that death bestows upon it.

• The Legacy of the Departed: Death may mark the end of a physical presence, but the influence of the departed lives on through memories, teachings, and the impact they had on others' lives.

• Embracing Impermanence: Recognizing the transient nature of life can inspire individuals to live authentically, cherishing each moment and making the most of their time.

IV. The Quest for Immortality:
The fear of death has led humankind to seek ways to overcome mortality, often giving rise to myths and legends of eternal life.

• Immortality in Mythology and Folklore: Throughout history, myths and stories have depicted gods, heroes, and mystical beings seeking eternal life or transcending death.

• Scientific Pursuits: In modern times, science has sought ways to extend human life through advancements in medicine, genetics, and anti-aging research.

• The Transhumanist Movement: Some individuals explore the concept of immortality through technological means, envisioning a future where humans merge with machines to achieve eternal existence.

V. Embracing the Mystery:
In the face of life's complexities and the uncertainty of what lies beyond death, individuals grapple with existential questions, seeking meaning and purpose.

• The Search for Meaning: Philosophers and thinkers throughout history have delved into the existential quest for purpose, grappling with the question of whether life and death hold inherent meaning.

• Finding Fulfillment: Embracing mortality can encourage individuals to find fulfillment in their experiences, relationships, and contributions to society.

Leaving a lasting and positive legacy is a noble aspiration that can have a profound impact on future generations. Here are some pieces of advice on how to leave a meaningful legacy that continues to speak after one's death:

• Lead by Example: Be a role model for others by embodying the qualities and values you wish to see in the world. Your actions can inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

• Be Open to Change and Growth: Embrace personal growth and adaptability throughout your life. Being receptive to new ideas and perspectives allows your legacy to evolve positively over time.

• Consider Planned Giving: If you have the means, consider leaving a portion of your estate or assets to charitable causes or organizations that align with your values.

• Be Mindful of Your Online Presence: In the digital age, your online activities and social media footprint can also be a part of your legacy. Use technology responsibly and thoughtfully.

In Conclusion, Life and death represent the inseparable duality of human existence. The recognition of life's impermanence enriches our appreciation of each moment, urging us to lead purposeful lives and cherish the relationships we form. While death may remain an enigma, it also serves as a reminder to embrace the mystery and wonder of existence. Ultimately, life and death converge in a timeless dance, shaping the very essence of what it means to be human.

Leaving a legacy that speaks after your death is about living a life of purpose, kindness, and compassion. It is about making a positive impact on others, contributing to the betterment of society, and inspiring future generations to continue the cycle of goodwill. By embodying these principles, you can leave behind a legacy that transcends time and continues to speak volumes long after you're gone.
