EKSG To Embrace Organic Farming Method for Rural Development, Food Security.

EKSG To Embrace Organic Farming Method for Rural Development, Food Security.
As part of his administration’s efforts to improve agriculture and food security, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has said that government would adopt and utilize opportunities in organic system of farming for rural development, and sustainable agricultural practice in the state.

The Governor stated this in Ado Ekiti  recently while playing host to a team from the Justice Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI) championing organic farming, led by the Bishop of Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Bishop Felix Ajakaye.
Governor Oyebanji explained that embracing organic methods of farming would go a long way in boosting food production, improve the standard of living, and ensure that the people live long and healthy while the environment will become cleaner.
The Governor, who also lauded various contributions of the Catholic diocese to the socio economic development of the State, said a team of the government will sit with the NGO  to brainstorm and  agree on a road map towards providing necessary equipment and how best to utilize organic farming to advance the state agricultural sector.

“I must thank Bishop Ajakaye for once again leading from the front and the Catholic diocese for always coming up with initiatives to assist us as a government and as people because if we are able to organize ourselves, we will live well, longer and there will be less stress on medical facilities and the environment will become much  cleaner.

"But we need a lot of work to do to bring our people to that point and to do this we have to be extremely deliberate because most of the health hazard we have today is self-inflicted because we don’t eat right, we don’t live well and we overlook a lot of things maybe because of culture, environment or ignorance".

Earlier in his remark, Reverend Father Emmanuel Akingbade, who spoke on behalf the NGO said the purpose of the meeting was to inform the Governor about the campaign for organic agriculture as a key life saver and to seek Ekiti State government support in using the method to encourage rural development, self-transformations and sustainable agricultural practice.

Rev Akingbade who said the NGO is out to launch the organic farming campaign for production of healthy food items in right quality and quantity at affordable prices in Ekiti State, added that practice of organic agriculture would reduce impact of synthetic chemicals in our environment.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Captain Sunday Adebomi (retd) has concluded arrangements to support about 1000  families, particularly widows with palliatives to cushioning the effect of the current economic hardship.

Adebomi, a former Governorship aspirant in a statement  made available to journalists in Ise-Ekiti said the current situation in the country called for concerted efforts of all and sundry.

The Ise-Ekiti born politician explained that part of his arrangements was to reach out to  50 people in each of the 16 Local Government areas of the Ekiti State.

The former chairman of the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) disclosed that governor Biodun Oyebanji was working round the clock to ensure that live become less cumbersome for the people, likewise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so I think they  needed people to support them in this onerous task. Which is why I am coming out to take up the challenge.

He said nothing would be too small to support the poor masses in this challenging moments.

Captain Adebomi clarified that  even though the party would be involved in the planning, the beneficiaries would be drawn from a wide spectrum of interests, stressing that the focus shall be the have not.

Speaking on the modality, Adebomi said, he intends to visit two Local Governments per week where the beneficiaries would be given the  Cash gifts

According to him, while the State and Federal Government are also strategizing on how to cushion the negative effects of fuel subsidy removal, all hands must be on the deck to rescue Nigerians from  the current pains.

”I am not a rich man but when you look at the current situation, particularly as it affects the masses, one must think about how to support the government, to bring succour to the masses.

“It is against this backdrop  that I have decided to reach out to atleast 1000 people across the state in my own  little way. My plan is to select 50 people in each Local Government, mostly widows and support them with cash gifts.
”We have  gotten to the point where every well-to-do Nigerians must come up with different economic interventions as palliatives. It is true that we are all feeling the pains but some people are feeling it more. So  it is responsibility of some of us who have more than others to share a  little from what we have, so that we cannot reduce this social tension in the land.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on spirited Nigerians to come out and assist the people in whatever way. We cannot sit back and be waiting for government’s palliatives alone. The fact remains that government alone cannot solve the current challenges unless we support it, Adebomi reiterated."

Labour protest: Oyebanji assures workers of better welfare package.
.....urges organized labour to be patient with government.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has assured the organised labour in the State of better welfare packages that will cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on workers and the general public.

Governor Oyebanji, who gave the assurance in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday while addressing protesting labour unions, said his government had already set up a committee to meet with the organised labour to finalize proposal for palliatives aimed at cushioning the effect of the subsidy removal on the citizens.

The Governor, who spoke through the Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede, said he and  President Bola Tinubu were not unmindful of the effects of subsidy removal on the incomes of salary earners and other citizens,

He added that a cluster of palliative measures is being planned just as salary increase is being discussed with relevant stakeholders.

While appreciating the labour unions for the peaceful protest, the Governor appealed for calm that things would get better very soon.

Earlier in their separate addresses, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Chapter, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde and the Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Sola Adigun said the removal of the fuel subsidy by the Federal Government was a welcome development that should better the lot of the masses but has turned to be against the people because of the unfavorable exchange rate.

The labour leaders, who decried the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy noted that the step has paralyzed almost all sectors of the nation’s economy.

They urged both federal and state  governments to take prompt actions in alleviating the hardship faced by Nigerians, saying the palliative rolled out by the President in his nationwide broadcast on Monday night fell short of the expectations of the Nigerian masses and very insignificant to cushion the effect of the suffering in the country.

Embracing the Duality of Darkness and Light: Symbolism of Human Backward, Progress, and Success.

Embracing the Duality of Darkness and Light: Symbolism of Human Backward, Progress, and Success.
By: Comr. Olamide Akinwumi James.
Throughout human history, the contrast between darkness and light has served as a powerful metaphor, captivating our imagination and shaping our understanding of the world. Symbolism associated with these elements goes beyond the literal sense of illumination and obscurity, delving into the depths of human emotions, psychology, and growth. In this article, we will explore the profound symbolism of darkness and light as they relate to human backwardness, progress, and success.

The Symbolism of Darkness:
Darkness often symbolizes ignorance, fear, and the unknown. It embodies a lack of knowledge or understanding, representing the aspects of our lives and societies that remain hidden or obscured. Historically, darkness has been associated with chaos, evil, and danger, often sparking feelings of unease and vulnerability. However, it is crucial to recognize that darkness is not inherently negative. Instead, it serves as a canvas upon which light can manifest its full potential.

Human Backwardness: When we find ourselves trapped in the darkness of ignorance, we are hindered in our personal growth and societal progress. Ignorance leads to prejudice, intolerance, and an unwillingness to embrace diversity. As individuals or as a collective, remaining in the dark prevents us from moving forward and inhibits the path to success.

The Symbolism of Light:
Light symbolizes knowledge, wisdom, enlightenment, and hope. It represents clarity and truth, illuminating the paths we take and dispelling the shadows of uncertainty. Light encourages growth, innovation, and an understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Human Progress: As we seek knowledge and enlightenment, we progress as individuals and societies. Embracing light means acknowledging our shortcomings and striving for improvement. Progress comes from learning from our mistakes, questioning assumptions, and seeking knowledge to overcome the barriers that hold us back.

The Interplay of Darkness and Light:
The duality of darkness and light is a fundamental aspect of the human experience. One cannot exist without the other, and their interplay offers valuable lessons.

•Resilience and Transformation: Darkness often represents periods of struggle, hardship, or failure. However, it is during these moments that we can foster resilience and experience personal transformation. Just as a seed needs the darkness of the soil to germinate and grow, individuals may find growth and development through challenges, paving the way for progress and success.

•Balance and Harmony: The balance between darkness and light is essential for achieving harmony. It reminds us that a life filled only with light can lead to complacency and stagnation, while a life engulfed in darkness can cause despair. By acknowledging and embracing both aspects, we can find equilibrium and navigate life's complexities with a clearer perspective.

•Overcoming Fear and Uncertainty: The symbolism of darkness and light encourages us to confront our fears and uncertainties. It reminds us that the unknown is an opportunity for growth and knowledge, rather than something to be feared. By seeking enlightenment, we can gain the courage to step out of our comfort zones and pursue success in various aspects of life.

In Conclusion, the symbolism of darkness and light holds profound significance in our lives, reflecting the universal themes of human backwardness, progress, and success. By recognizing that darkness is not the absence of light but rather its counterpart, we can approach life's challenges with resilience and learn from our experiences. Embracing the duality of darkness and light allows us to find harmony, growth, and enlightenment as we journey towards personal progress and societal success. Through this understanding, we can fully appreciate the transformative power of the human spirit and its ability to overcome obstacles and reach new heights.

May God Almighty shower His light upon us, guiding us away from the temptations of darkness and towards the path of righteousness, Amen..
