At a special birthday service held in honour of the septuagenarian at the Agape Cathedral, Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Ekiti First Lady extolled the virtues of Bishop Adejumo for his positive contributions to Christianity and humanity.

Dr. Oyebanji noted that the Agape Bishop was fulfilling the scriptural injunction of “teaching us to number our days and applying our hearts to wisdom,” saying appreciating God for a life well spent is a worthwhile gesture by the renowned cleric.

Dignitaries who attended the special birthday service included Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa; former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and his wife, Mrs. Olukemi Mimiko; former Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Agboola Ajayi; wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke; former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Sarah Sosan; wife of former President, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo; wife of former Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola; wife of former Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi; and President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Oyebanji said the impact of Bishop Adejumo is being felt in Ekiti State noting that a good number of his church members are holding positions in government and are doing well.

Dr. Oyebanji said: “You (Bishop Adejumo) will continue to increase in wisdom in Jesus’ name. I pray for you that as your days increase, so shall your strength be. The rest of your days shall be the best of your days.”

Governor Ayedatiwa who said the age of 70 offers Bishop Adejumo an opportunity for a fresh start and a renewal of strength congratulated the celebrant on reaching the landmark birthday.

He urged the celebrant to draw inspiration from biblical Abraham who began a fresh journey with God at the age of 99 when he received a divine call to proceed to a new land of fulfilment.

Governor Ayedatiwa said: “Life is a journey marked and punctuated by so many events; some can be challenging. You have had joyous moments and challenging moments.

“But from now on like Abraham, walk with God and be blameless because God has greater promises for you.”

Former Governor Mimiko said he and the celebrant had remained friends from their first encounter and had remained friends till date.

Dr. Mimiko said Bishop Adejumo gave him support in the course of his public career dating back to 1992 when he started as Commissioner for Health under the Bamidele Olumilua administration in old Ondo State.

Wife of former President, Mrs. Obasanjo, lauded the celebrant for giving his wife, Rev. Funke Adejumo, opportunities to excel in the work of the ministry.

She hailed the wife of the celebrant for her role in healing broken homes, serving God and humanity alongside her husband.

The preacher of the day, Bishop Oke, commended the celebrant for his consistency in God’s service and for being a reliable servant in God’s vineyard.

Bishop Oke told the celebrant the it is not yet time for him to retire from the ministry but the time to refire to get the strength to be fruitful in his old age.

He charged the celebrant to see years ahead as an opportunity to cover more ground praying God to grant him the grace to finish well, finish strong and finish gloriously.

The celebrant, Bishop Adejumo, appreciated all those who attended the event noting that his life has been that of grace, mercy and favour of God.

“The theme of my life is grace the definition of my life is grace and the summary of my life is grace,” Bishop Adejumo said.

The celebration also featured thanksgiving, prayers for the celebrant and his family, the launch of his biography and a book authored by him which is titled “70 Laws of Life.”
