The chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, Hon Idowu Odebunmi has expressed determination to join forces with sports stakeholders to reposition Sports in Ekiti State.
The lawmaker who welcomed the chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Ekiti State chapter, Qozeem Oladapo to his office on Thursday said efforts will be geared towards helping the State governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji who was described as a sports lover achieve the desired development in the sector through purposeful legislation.
Hon. Odebunmi said the House of Assembly Sports Committee has swung into action to study some of the Sports Bills waiting for passage including the Ekiti State Sports Commission Bill.
He promised to rub minds with relevant Sports stakeholders in the quest to be guided on issues affecting Sports.
The lawmaker representing Oye Constituency II at the Ekiti State House of Assembly noted that the State governor has laudable projections and plans for the Youths through Sports, hence the need for everyone to fully support the governor.
He described Sports as one major tool through which youth restiveness and social vices could be curbed thereby urging the young ones to explore the numerous benefits inherent in sports for various participants ranging from athletes, coaches, administrators, investors, journalists and fans.
