Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Needs Less Campaign to Win, Says Okpebholo.

Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Needs Less Campaign to Win, Says Okpebholo.
...commissions road, farm dormitory projects
...I won't relent in my service to Ekiti people- Oyebanji.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Ekpobholo, has declared that Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji requires less stress and campaign to triumph in the June 20, 2026 Governorship election, on account of his superlative performance in three years.

Governor  Ekpobholo, disclosed this in Ikere Ekiti, on Wednesday, while commissioning the Ikere-Igbara Odo road and a farm dormitory constructed by Governor Oyebanji's government, as part of the activities commemorating the third anniversary  of the administration.

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had earlier commissioned different road projects at separate locations across the state in the last few days.

Brimming with joy and pride that the Ekiti governor has performed exceedingly well, Senator Ekpobholo, said he was dazzled by the quantum of job done and the groundswell of support being received by the Governor from the masses.

"Mr Governor, my dear good brother and friend, I want to tell you confidently that you have done well. I came into Ekiti and started hearing BAO everywhere and this showed that Ekiti people really appreciate your efforts in three years.

"When I was addressing my people in Edo State, I said I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2.5m votes for 2027 presidential election. With what I have seen in Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji may likely surpass that record.

"I drove on the flyover you built in just three years and I came to the conclusion that you don't need to campaign much or stress yourself in Ekiti to win the coming governorship election.

"I congratulate you and all Ekiti people for what you have been able to achieve for them in three years", he said.

In his submission, especially about how strategic the road is to the economic survival of the state, Governor Oyebanji, said the project will help in exposing the State to better economic potentials, particularly by unlocking the food production capacity of the state.

The Governor, who narrated the ordeal of the residents in the hands of criminal elements along the route, in the past, said the current upgraded road will address the sordid past and turn the corridor into a viable economic hub.

Governor Oyebanji appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving him enormous support through his courageous economic decisions that freed money into states and  that have started  manifesting positivity for the country in the areas of infrastructure upgrade and better life for the citizens.

"I don't have much to say than to thank the good people of Ekiti State for their support. Since we started this anniversary, Governors of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ondo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa have all came to commission projects. We promise you that we will continue to serve you well", the governor pledged .

Earlier in his address, the  Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, said Oyebanji has succeeded in making the road a life wire of the economy, after degenerating  into a corridor of peril, where kidnappers and killers carried out their nefarious acts without resistance due to long years of neglect.

Speaking about the specification, the commissioner, said: "We ensured that we channelised the two sides to ensure the durability of the road. I appeal to our people to cultivate the culture of protecting public utilities, so that we can enjoy the durability and full gains of the project".

The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti and Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, who was overwhelmed with joy, saluted Oyebanji for completing the project speedily, saying the community played critical role in  ensuring that specification was not altered by setting up a committee to monitor as the work progressed.

Oba Adu Alagbado said the passion being displayed in the execution of projects by Oyebanji  have attracted wide applause from the people and igniting  industrial growth that is gradually turning around the state in terms of economic prosperity and social rebranding.

"The jinx of continuity agenda is being broken under your reign. We are happy that our people appreciate your efforts. We are having consensus in a ruling party for the first time. This is because the support you are getting is genuine, not fake. But the expectations are high for your second term, go and buckle up, God will help you", the monarch advised.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday commissioned the newly constructed Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat Complex.

The ultra-modern administrative building was built and delivered by the Council Chairman, Hon. Ajibade Sunday Owolabi.

Oyebanji, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, said the project underscored the Council Chairman’s commitment to inclusive development and responsive governance at the grassroots.

The governor recalled that he had earlier commissioned the 13.27-kilometre Itawure–Okemesi Road in Okemesi-Ekiti, and called for continued support for his administration.

Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people and promoting sustainable development across the state.

He commended Hon. Ajibade for providing an enabling environment and essential facilities to enhance government business, describing the new secretariat as a landmark achievement.

In his welcome address, Hon. Ajibade lauded Governor Oyebanji for his dedication to the welfare of the people of Ekiti State.

He said the construction of the council headquarters would enhance efficiency in the council’s operations, noting that staff members could now work in a more conducive and innovative environment.

Ajibade explained that the secretariat comprises 28 offices, each with toilet facilities, 24-hour solar power supply, fans, office furniture, and a borehole to ensure steady water supply.

The chairman expressed appreciation to the governor for granting autonomy to the councils, which he said had enabled them to deliver on their electioneering promises.

Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa has described his Ekiti State counterpart, Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a beacon of progress, prudence and performance in Southwest saying the development strides in Ekiti is a testament and evidence of transformative leadership that has been able to transform electioneering promises to tangible and visible progress.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated this while commissioning the Itawure -Okemesi road, electricity power project and the newly renovated General Hospital, Okemesi in Ekiti West Local Government area of Ekiti State. He added that In just three years of Governor Oyebanji’s administration, the State has witnessed unprecedented infrastructural revitalization, improved social and economic development, and governance anchored on integrity, accountability and compassion that continually puts the people at the Centre of government's policies and programmes.

"As I join you today to commission the Itawure to Okemesi Road, the General Hospital, and the electricity Project, I see modern structures of stones and steel and cables, I see symbols of vision, commitment, and humanity, these projects represent the lifeblood of progress, roads that connect opportunities, a hospital that preserves lives and electricity that brings light to the people. They are enduring legacies of a leader who listens, plans, and delivers.

"When you create a road, when you build a road, you create access and definitely increase the economic activity in the area. The hospital we unveil embodies the sanctity of life and the compassion of a government that truly cares. Indeed, these are landmarks of legacy, and your name, Your Excellency is indelibly inscribed in the chronicles of Ekiti development history.”

Governor Ayedatiwa revealed that the bond between Ondo and Ekiti states transcends boundaries, but that of shared heritage, shared destiny, and shared aspiration, for the renaissance of the urban nation within the Nigeria Federation.

He described the Southwest as a region parading excellence inspired by the visionary leadership embodied by leaders like Governor Oyebanji who perceive governance not as an entitlement but a sacred trust and divine stewardship.

“Your Excellency, permit me with every sense of sincerity to acknowledge the testimonies of the good people of Ekiti State. Some have just been mentioned by those who gave their goodwill messages, that your sterling performance in the past three years has been wonderful, your strides in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment reflect the qualities of progressive development which has been the hallmark of the Southwestern region, which we are part of. The entire Southwest is proud of your record, and we, your brothers in Ondo State rejoice with you today in faith and in fellowship”, Governor Ayedatiwa stated.

Earlier, Governor Oyebanji confirmed that the commissioning of the three projects in the community was a way of connecting it to civilization, adding that those facilities were capable of transforming the economy of the area and bring about vast development to the people.
While affirming that no fewer than ten roads will be commission during the third anniversary of his government, Governor Oyebanji called on those who criticize the government on social media to visit home and see the level of developmental projects his government has been able to achieve in just three years.

“Your Excellency, this is the fourth road project we are going to commission, and we have six other road projects to commission. So, when i hear some people on the social media saying that we have not done anything, i always say, yes but come home because most people don't leave their comfort zones, they are not connected to their communities, they don't know what is happening at home. But i hope they are watching and seeing their people appreciating what government is doing.

While expressing appreciation to Governor Ayedatiwa for honouring the invitation, Governor Oyebanji said, “Thank you so much sir, I’m extremely grateful, you have honored us with your esteemed presence and we are not taking it for granted, there are three assignments you are going to perform after your speech, you commission the road, you light up Okemesi then we drive straight to the hospital, see what we have done.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr Sola Adebayo said the road project demonstrates the Governor’s unwavering determination to entrench the dividends of democracy across every stratum of the State through his administration’s unrelenting pursuit of infrastructural renaissance and inclusive development, in consonance with the Six-Point Agenda.

The Commissioner stressed that the road project was not just an infrastructural upgrade, but an enabler of progress and a lifeline that will facilitate the seamless mobility of people, agricultural produce, and essential commodities. He added that the road project will improve socio-economic activities, rejuvenate rural enterprise, and unlock the latent potential within the agricultural sub-sector, which remains the pivot of the local economy.

Engr. Bayo Ajayi Congratulates Gov. Oyebanji, Deputy on APC Flagbearer Emergence.

A member of the Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency Board and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Emure-Ekiti, Engr. Bayo Ajayi, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) and Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Christianah Afuye (MCA) on their emergence as the APC flagbearers for the forthcoming 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

Engr. Ajayi, a seasoned engineer and grassroots political leader, commended the governor and his deputy following the overwhelming voice vote of confidence by 885 delegates across the 177 wards of the state during the party’s primary election.

He lauded the delegates for upholding the supremacy of the party and for recognizing the achievements of Governor Oyebanji’s administration over the past three years, describing his leadership as purposeful, progressive, and people-centred.

"I sincerely appreciate the governor for his inclusive style of leadership, his efforts in uniting political leaders across the state, and for establishing a government of unity that cuts across party lines,” Engr. Ajayi said.

Clearing the Fog: Understanding the Veracity of the Consensus Affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Clearing the Fog: Understanding the Veracity of the Consensus Affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
...a response to the faceless Coalition of Civil Society Groups (COCSG).

The foremost grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation movement for sustaining good governance and democratic culture in Ekiti State, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (_OSV_), has strongly condemned in strong terms the recent obnoxious and false information being circulated by a faceless organisation parading itself as the Coalition of Civil Society Groups (COCSG).

In a statement released by the Convener, Hon. HC Ade, the group described the criticisms against the seamless consensus affirmation of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as a product of ignorance, misinformation, and deliberate mischief by outsiders unfamiliar with Ekiti’s political realities and the provisions of Section 84 of the Nigerian Electoral Act, 2022.

According to the statement, rather than acknowledging the transparent, peaceful, and lawful process that produced the APC governorship candidate for the June 20, 2026 election, the so-called COCSG chose to display its shallow understanding of the INEC guidelines, the Nigerian Electoral Act, and the supremacy of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

The OSV has further clarified that the adoption of Governor Oyebanji through consensus affirmation followed the due process in its totality and was guided by the following factors:

Strict compliance with relevant laws and party guidelines.

●Disqualification of aspirants who failed to meet up with set criteria by the NWC.

●Voluntary withdrawal and endorsement of the BAO by the only remaining aspirant, Mrs. Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo.

●The Governor’s sterling performance and visible achievements within three years in office.

●The overwhelming support of Ekiti people, both elites and grassroots alike.

The group has thus questioned the credibility of the so-called COCSG, asking relevant question: “Where were they when Governor Oyebanji was receiving unprecedented endorsements from groups across and beyond the State?”

Indeed, the consensus for BAO’s return enjoys the solid backing of:

●The Presidency and the entire APC structure from National to the Ward levels.

●The Ekiti Caucus in the National Assembly, led by Senate Leader, Senator (Dr.) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele.

●The 26-member State House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye.

●All 38 Local Government and LCDA Chairmen, and the Conference of former legislators led by Senator Adetunmbi.

●Former Governors and Deputy Governors across party lines, under the leadership of Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Chief Paul Alabi, and Professor Modupe Adelabu.

●Women and youth groups, opinion leaders, CSOs, and Ekiti indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

While patriotic groups and stakeholders are uniting to consolidate the gains of good governance, these “commercial civil society actors” continue to expose their ignorance by mocking the progress of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) and Governor Oyebanji, using propaganda to mislead unsuspecting citizens.

The Oyebanji Street Vanguard has therefore urged all well-meaning Nigerians and lovers of democracy to disregard the baseless rantings of these faceless individuals and continue to support strong democratic institutions which are the foundation of our political stability and sustainable development.

Finally, OSV, has however advised the so-called COCSG to focus on their states and stop meddling in Ekiti affairs they neither understand nor experience. The people of Ekiti know what they want, and they have spoken loudly through their united support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
