In what can only be described as a remarkable journey of leadership and dedication, Hon. Oluwadamilare Ajayi, the Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ekiti State, has left an indelible mark on his community. With a steadfast commitment to progress, he has undertaken numerous impactful initiatives aimed at propelling the LCDA to new heights.

When Hon. Ajayi took office nearly two years ago, he was faced with daunting challenges that could have easily discouraged him. However, he embraced the responsibility entrusted to him by his people with unwavering determination.

One of the immediate challenges was the inadequate office accommodation for the council staff. Undeterred by the seemingly insurmountable odds, Hon. Ajayi oversaw the renovation of an abandoned building, which now stands as one of the best at the council secretariat. This rejuvenated structure was furnished with state-of-the-art furniture, rivaling any governor's office.

But Hon. Ajayi's dedication extended beyond the council's administrative needs. He recognized the importance of revamping the local market stalls in the three communities that constitute the LCDA: Ijan, Iluomoba, and Aisegba Ekiti. His administration renovated 20 market buildings in Ijan Ekiti, constructed 10 open market stalls in Iluomoba, and renovated 20 market stalls in Aisegba Ekiti. These renovations not only enhanced the trading environment but also boosted the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), earning him the title of a "Miracle Worker."

Safety and security were not overlooked either. Hon. Ajayi embarked on the perimeter fencing of the entire secretariat, ensuring the safety of workers and deterring wandering domestic animals. Regular security meetings and funding for logistics, fueling, and contingencies for security patrols were established, contributing to a relatively crime-free LCDA. To bolster security further, he purchased five Bajaj Motorbikes for five security agencies in the area.

Recognizing the LCDA's agrarian potential, Hon. Ajayi seized the opportunity to cultivate cash crops like yam, maize, and cassava on extensive hectares of land. Furthermore, he prioritized infrastructure development, grading and rehabilitating numerous township and farm settlement roads in the three towns comprising Gbonyin LCDA.

In the realm of Human Capital Development, Hon. Ajayi's administration emphasized training and retraining, investing substantially in staff seminars and workshops. Plans are underway to empower individuals across the three major towns in the LCDA with materials such as grading machines, clippers, and herbicides. Additionally, palliatives will be distributed to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal from petrol.

In light of these transformative projects led by Hon. Oluwadamilare Ajayi's administration, it is abundantly clear that his commitment to the advancement of Gbonyin LCDA knows no bounds. His dedication and tireless efforts have set a shining example for others to follow, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji Honors Oba James Adelusi Aladesuru II on His 90th Birthday and 64-Year Reign.

Moises Caicedo costs the Blues AGAIN - but Nicolas Jackson should have saved their blushes.
Forest secured a shock 1-0 win as the £115 million ($145m) man's second error in three games was brutally punished - but Jackson was equally at fault.

If Chelsea's owners thought throwing £450 million ($566m) at their broken squad this summer would make for a quick fix, they were sorely mistaken. The limitations of Mauricio Pochettino's new-look side were exposed for a second time in four games on Saturday, as another error from £115 million ($145m) signing Moises Caicedo led to an unlikely 1-0 victory for Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo stumbled and gave the ball away early in the second half, with former Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga taking full advantage as he ran through and rolled the ball coolly into the bottom corner.

Chelsea finally mustered a clear opportunity to salvage a point in the dying embers of the game when Raheem Sterling got to the byline, but Nicolas Jackson somehow conspired to prod his pull-back over the bar from just four yards out.

A home defeat to Forest means Chelsea certainly aren't out of the woods yet, with early echoes of their nightmarish 2022-23 campaign.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are magic — but Jude Bellingham plays hero in Getafe win.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are magic — but Jude Bellingham plays hero in Getafe win.
Madrid relied on a combination of old and new to continue their undefeated streak to open the season.

Real Madrid conceded first in their inaugural contest at the refurbished Santiago Bernabeu, but the classy duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos — along with the continuing impact of big money signing Jude Bellingham — saw them rescue all three points. Modric started for the first time this season, and was joined by Kroos shortly after the break — a game-changing substitution that was enough for Carlo Ancelotti's side to complete a memorable comeback win.

Madrid struggled to gain control of the contest and conceded early. Getafe played through Los Blancos' midfield before a Fran Garcia error allowed former Madrid striker Borja Mayoral to go clear on goal and finish.

The home side struggled to create clear cut chances for the remainder of the first half. Bellingham had a penalty shout rather harshly overturned by VAR — and could have been awarded a further two. But Joselu came closest, putting his effort directly at David Soria from six yards out.

The big striker made no such mistake after the break, side-footing home from close range after a chaotic sequence in the box. A predictable onslaught followed. Kroos hit the post from long range. Dani Carvajal rattled one off the woodwork of his own. But Bellingham eventually provided the winner, capitalising on a rare mistake from Soria to bury the winner five minutes into second half stoppage time

Erling Haaland is at it again! Norwegian hits first hat-trick in six months thanks to heavenly partnership with Julian Alvarez.
Erling Haaland smashed in his seventh Manchester City hat-trick after working up a wonderful partnership with Julian Alvarez, turning a tricky fixture against Fulham into an eventual thrashing. The little and large partnership did not always work well last season but here the Norwegian and the Argentine were on exactly the same page.

Haaland squared for Alvarez to knock in the opening goal in the 31st minute, only for Tim Ream to pounce and equalise two minutes later. Nathan Ake powered in a header to restore City's lead on the stroke of half-time and Haaland made sure of the three points with three strikes in the second half, two served up by partner in crime Alvarez.

It crowned an excellent week for Haaland, who won the PFA Men's Player of the Year award in recognition of his record-breaking season. It was far from a fluid performance from City although Phil Foden was in mesmeric mood and, thanks to their brilliant strike pairing, the champions have four wins from four.

Minister of Solid Minerals Issues Stern Warning Against Illegal Mining.
Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has reinforced the government's commitment to combat illegal mining in Nigeria. Alake emphasized that the law against illegal mining remains in full force, and those involved in such activities should take heed or face severe consequences.

Alake made it clear that there would be no more "business as usual" when it comes to illegal mining, as the government, led by President [President's Name], is determined to put an end to this illicit practice. The minister outlined some of the measures being taken by his ministry to address the issue.

"We are currently working closely with security agencies to develop a robust and enduring strategy for tackling illegal mining and the unauthorized exploitation of critical minerals in our country," Alake stated.

While he didn't delve into specific details at this time, the minister assured the public that a comprehensive plan would soon be revealed. However, he took the opportunity to send a stern message to those currently engaged in illegal mining activities.

"The definition of illegal activity is very straightforward," Alake explained. "Anyone mining without the necessary Federal Government-approved licenses is considered an illegal miner. Whether it's a state, an individual, or a corporate institution, it doesn't matter; mining illegally in Nigeria is an offense."

He emphasized that this practice, which has persisted for decades, must come to an end. The minister's warning reflects the stance of the President, who is determined to halt these illegal activities that have been adversely affecting Nigeria's economic fortunes.

As the government prepares to unveil its comprehensive strategy to combat illegal mining, it is clear that a new era has dawned in Nigeria's mining sector, one where the rule of law and responsible mining practices will be vigorously enforced.
