The Executive Chairman of Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government in Ekiti State, Hon. Oluwatuyi Oluwagbenga, popularly known as Chenco, has celebrated the former First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, on the occasion of her 61st birthday, hailing her as a “pillar of strength, a voice for the voiceless, and a transformative force in Ekiti’s development journey.”

In a congratulatory message on Tuesday, the council boss praised Erelu Fayemi’s pivotal role in women and youth empowerment, as well as her influential support in the administration of her husband, former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

“Erelu Bisi Fayemi stands tall as a mother of the state, an advocate of justice, and a champion of inclusive governance. Her contributions to the socio-political and economic development of Ekiti State are beyond measure,” Hon. Chenco stated.

According to him, Erelu Fayemi was not just a ceremonial First Lady but a co-strategist whose intellect and compassion helped design and implement life-changing policies across the state.

Highlighting some of her key interventions, Chenco commended her leadership in championing the Gender-Based Violence Prohibition Law, the Equal Opportunities Bill, and the establishment of the Obirin Kete Women Empowerment Programme and the Ekiti Development Foundation. He described these efforts as groundbreaking and life-transforming for thousands of women, children, and vulnerable citizens in the state.

“Her work gave hope to the discouraged, strength to the weak, and visibility to the unheard. Ekiti will never forget her passionate leadership and unwavering pursuit of justice and equality,” he added.

The council chairman also emphasized that Erelu Fayemi’s impact extended beyond gender advocacy, noting that she was instrumental in grassroots policy implementation, youth mentorship, and social inclusion throughout her husband’s administration.

On his part, Hon. Chenco outlined his administration’s contributions to grassroots development under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s government, including renovation of primary healthcare centres, support for market women and artisans, youth empowerment programmes, and rural infrastructure projects across Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government.

“Leaders like Erelu Bisi Fayemi have shown us the power of compassion and purpose-driven service. Her life is a reminder that governance must reflect the needs of the people, especially the most vulnerable,” he noted.

He concluded with heartfelt prayers for Erelu Fayemi, wishing her many more years in good health and continued relevance.

“On behalf of the good people of Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government, I celebrate this rare gem. She is a blessing to Ekiti and a pride to Nigeria,” he said.
