Ekiti State's Former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi to Headline SIRA's Keynote Lecture on Africa's Global Direction.
Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), is set to headline the annual lecture organized by the Society for International Relations Awareness (SIRA) on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Abuja.
The event, themed "Africa, in the Turbulence of a World in Search of Direction," addresses the ever-changing dynamics facing the continent in a global context. The lecture is of paramount significance in understanding Africa's role on the world stage.
Dr. Fayemi, currently a Visiting Professor at the School of Global Affairs, Kings College, London, will shed light on Africa's challenges and opportunities in today's global landscape. He will provide insights on how the continent can navigate these challenges and find its rightful place in the world.
Distinguished participants at the event will include Ambassador John Kayode Shinkaiye, Chief of Staff to the African Union Chairman, who will serve as the Guest of Honour. Joining the discussion are esteemed experts, Professor Jibrin Jibo Ibrahim, specializing in African politics, and Professor Freedom Onuoha, an authority on security, violence, and conflict resolution.
The Chairperson of the event is Ambassador Brownson Dede, former OAU Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Eritrea.
This public lecture is anticipated to attract a wide range of attendees, including government officials, diplomats, academics, and civil society members. The event will commence at 10 am at the Tafawa Balewa Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
Society for International Relations Awareness (SIRA), a non-governmental organization established in 2010, is dedicated to fostering the understanding and study of international relations in Nigeria.
