OYEBANJI PREACHES LOVE, HARMONY AT CHRISTMAS.


Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has urged the people of the state and other Nigerians to use the period of Christmas to deepen love and harmonious relationship among themselves in order to have a better society.

The Governor who congratulated the people of the state for witnessing another Christmas, said the season offers another opportunity for sober reflection and prayers for the state in particular and Nigeria in general for sustained peace and development.



In his Christmas message contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the Governor said the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ calls for celebration because it signaled God's special favour to mankind in bringing the Prince of Peace to the world.

The Governor extended his best wishes to the people of Ekiti State urging them to key into the messages of love for one another, sacrifices, tolerance, humility, compassion and care for those in distress which were the hallmarks of Jesus Christ's teachings in his public ministry.

He stressed that Christmas is not meant for eating, drinking and merriment alone but reassessing one's relationship with his Maker and exploring areas to be of help to fellow human beings as well as showing love, compassion and kindness to them.

"As we rejoice at this momentous occasion, the true essence of the season must not be lost on us. We should reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and its significance to mankind. This offers an opportunity to deepen love for ourselves and strengthen our harmonious relationships.

"Let us be our brothers' keepers by showing love and compassion to one another as exemplified our Lord Jesus Christ whose birth we are celebrating this season.

"I urge the Christian faithful to practise the teachings of Jesus Christ by living in peace and harmony with adherence of other faiths. We should exhibit virtues of humility, tolerance, perseverance and compassion as exemplified by Jesus Christ," he said.

The Governor called on the Christian community and indeed all the people of the state not to relent in their prayers for his administration to realize its vision of Shared Prosperity for the overall benefit of the people of the state.

The Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government (IILG), Honorable Oluwatuyi Oluwagbenga, has once again demonstrated his commitment to infrastructural development with the ongoing construction of a solid concrete drainage along the Igede-Iyin Federal Road. On Monday, December 23, 2024, the Council Boss, alongside prominent political chieftains, career officers, and stakeholders, inspected the project, receiving widespread commendation for his transformative leadership.


The inspection team, led by the Head of Local Administration (HLA), Prince Adegoke, lauded Hon. Oluwatuyi for his dedication to impactful and visible projects that have significantly improved welfare and infrastructure across the local government. Prince Adegoke described the Chairman’s achievements as “remarkable strides towards sustainable development.”



Engineer Adebayo Ojo, the Director of Works in IILG, praised the quality of the drainage project, emphasizing its durability and adherence to modern engineering standards. “This project is not only structurally sound but also designed with advanced techniques to ensure effective water management, erosion control, and long-term sustainability,” he noted, adding that it sets a benchmark for infrastructure projects in the region.


The atmosphere during the inspection was charged with excitement as community members and stakeholders expressed their admiration for Hon. Oluwatuyi’s exceptional performance since assuming office. Glorious testimonies highlighted his unwavering commitment to addressing the infrastructural and welfare needs of the people.

Hon. Femi Osajuyigbe, a prominent political figure, also seized the occasion to appreciate and encourage the Council Boss. “Hon. Oluwatuyi is rewriting the narrative of development in IILG. His administration is not only changing the face of infrastructure but also reshaping the future of governance in our local government. His vision and dedication are truly inspiring,” he remarked.



The drainage project is part of Hon. Oluwatuyi’s broader developmental agenda aimed at transforming Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government through innovative and people-centered initiatives. With its completion, the project is expected to significantly improve road infrastructure, enhance environmental management, and boost economic activities in the area.

The Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC), Ekiti State Chapter, has expressed deep concern over the abduction of a corps member, Ojo Caleb Temidayo, who was kidnapped along the Emure-Ise Road in Ekiti State while traveling from Eporo in Ondo State to his hometown, Ogotun Ekiti.

In a statement issued by the NYC Chairman, Aare Adedara Temitope Moses, the organization strongly condemned the act and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victim and bring the culprits to justice.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle, an indigene of Emure Ekiti, transported the corps member when the incident occurred. The case was promptly reported to the police station in Emure, and investigations are ongoing.

The family of the abducted corps member disclosed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦30 million, which was negotiated down to ₦10 million. Unfortunately, communication with the abductors has since been lost, leaving the family in a state of despair.

Aare Adedara urged the Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the Federal Government to collaborate and deploy necessary resources to ensure the swift rescue of the corps member.

He also appealed to the public to support security operatives by providing any relevant information that could aid the rescue operation. "The safety and security of every Nigerian must remain a top priority, and collective efforts are crucial to achieving this," he said.

The NYC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all youth in the state and reassured the family of its unwavering support during this difficult time.

The incident has underscored the need for improved security measures along rural roads and highways in Ekiti State, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to protect lives and property.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji on Monday said the visit and prayers of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye to the state will further increase the fortunes of the state. 


Governor Oyebanji stated this in Ilogbo Ekiti during the RCCG programe tagged ‘Light up Ilogbo” which coincide with the Church annual December programe, 'Let’s go a fishing'.

Speaking with journalists, shortly after the Programme, Governor Oyebanji described Pastor Adeboye’s visit as a good omen for the state, government and the people just as the new year approaches with great expectations.


He maintained that the prophetic declarations made by the RCCG General Overseer will be evident in the lives of the citizens and his government as the new year unfolds.

“Well, like he said during his sermon, he has brought good news to us in Ekiti State and the programe is titled “light up Ilogbo Ekiti” and I have absolute confidence in God that it is not only Ilogbo that will experience the light, but the whole Ekiti will experience it.

“And this is a very good Christmas gift for us as a state, for him to have stepped his foot on Ekiti soil and I know that good news will follow all of us in Jesus name”. The Governor asserted 


Earlier in his sermon, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who said the visit was his first in the town, announced that God had sent him with good news of blessing, breakthrough, and positive turnaround for individuals, families, and the state as a whole.

Pastor Adeboye maintained that the period of stagnation and difficulties had come to an end in the state.



Also at the programe were, Wife of the State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, Clergy Men, Traditional Rulers, and Worshipers from different faith.

The Directors  Information & Civic Orientation  across the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Ekiti State recently gathered for a memorable celebration.The occasion marked  two significant events; the retirement of dedicated colleagues and celebrating the creation of the Department of Information & Civic Orientation.


In his welcome address at the event , the Chairman of Ekiti State Forum of Directors of Information & Civic Orientation, Prince Ajibola Taiwo expressed gratitude to God for His divine protection upon the members. He felicitated his retired  colleagues for the rare grace of finishing the race on good notes .

Ajibola lauded members for their affirmed  commitment that led to the creation of the Information & Civic Orientation Department. He equally expressed deep heartfelt appreciation to Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, former Ekiti State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ),for the strategic roles
he played towards the actualisation of the new Department.

The Chairman , however, appealed to the retired colleagues not to abandon those left in the  service saying their wealth of experience would still be invaluable to the department. 

Delivering his goodwill message, the former NUJ Chairman, Ekiti State, Com. Ojomoyela congratulated the retirees for God's grace and mercy to navigate through the rigours of 35-year in service .

He went down memory lane narrating the ordeal went through during the course of the struggle for a new Information Department in the Ekiti State Local Government Service. Finally, he expressed his delight that everything ended in success and urged members to consolidate on the laudable achievement.  

 The  Head of Local Government Administration( HLA), Appointment and Postings,Local Government Service Commission, Mr. S A Familoye, congratulated the retirees and wished them a blissful retirement. He praised the Cadre Executives  and the Organising Committee for painstakingly staging a classic.

The HLA said the creation of the  Department of Information remained an everlasting legacy bequeathed by the retired colleagues.He referred to them as "ancestors", urging for the sustainability of their legacy.He further charged members to improve themselves academically so as to benefit fully from the big opportunities ahead.

" Let us find ways to mitigate our shortcomings .Let us be more focused ,let us be critical thinkers ,problem solvers such that we can learn together and grow together " Familoye stated .

Responding on behalf of the retirees ,Prince Femi Adelusi appreciated God for His abundant grace upon them throughout their service years .He applauded the Forum for organizing a befitting sent-forth ceremony to honour them and pledged their continued support.


In their remarks, Messrs Fasakin Kayode, Ibitomisin Ernest  and  Peter Omotayo extolled the contributions of the retirees to the enviable status of the department, with words of admonitions for the young ones to emulate their good gestures.

The retirees are ; Mr Femi Adelusi ,Prince Bamisaye Tunde ,Mr Bode Bankole ,Mr Oguntuase Richard and Mr. Ade  Oyebola 

The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to the retirees .

In a heartwarming display of community support, Hon. Mrs. Oluremi Ajayi Babington, Special Adviser on Rural Mobilization to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has successfully distributed food supplies, clothing, and cash gifts to over 30 elderly residents in Ward 7, Oraye 2, in Ise-Orun Local Government. This initiative, conducted without any political affiliations, aims to uplift the less privileged during the festive season.


This charitable act aligns with Governor Oyebanji's recent exhortation during the Christmas Carols and Lessons event, which encouraged political appointees to embrace the spirit of giving. This marks the second time in two years that Hon. Mrs. Babington has organized such a benevolent outreach since taking office.


Addressing the gathering, Hon. Mrs. Ajayi Babington emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, stating that supporting ongoing initiatives is crucial for sustaining the achievements of Ise-Orun Local Government and Ekiti State as a whole. She reassured the beneficiaries of her commitment to providing continued assistance and encouraged the residents of Ward 7 to maintain their faith in the leadership of Governor Oyebanji.

The Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government (IILG), Honorable Oluwatuyi, has launched a major drainage project aimed at ending the persistent flooding that has plagued the Igede-Iyin Federal Road in Igede-Ekiti. The 150-meter concrete drainage, which is now under construction, is expected to address the long-standing problem that has affected commuters and local farmers for years.


Speaking during an inspection of the project, Hon. Oluwatuyi emphasized the importance of the initiative, describing it as a crucial step toward improving infrastructure in the community. "This project is not just about governance, it’s a purposeful intervention to solve the challenges our people have faced for far too long. It’s about restoring access, enhancing livelihoods, and ensuring smoother connections across the local government," he said.


The Igede-Iyin Road has been prone to severe flooding due to years of neglect, often making it impassable and causing significant losses for farmers who have struggled to transport their produce to the market. The situation has disrupted not only the local economy but also the daily lives of residents who have been cut off from essential services.



Engineer Adebayo Ojo, the Director of Works at IILG, commended the chairman for his proactive approach to solving the flooding issue. “This drainage project is a testament to the chairman’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure. It will not only mitigate flooding but will also ensure that the road remains durable and accessible for many years to come,” he stated.

The project has been warmly received by residents, who expressed relief and appreciation for the chairman’s intervention. High Chief Ayodele Otegbola (High Chief Regba), a respected community leader, praised Hon. Oluwatuyi’s leadership, calling him “trustworthy, hardworking, and visionary.” He added, “The chairman has proven time and again that he is dedicated to turning his vision into tangible outcomes that benefit everyone in the community.”

Joining the chairman on the inspection were Prince Adegoke, the Head of Local Administration (HLA); Hon. Adekunle, the Ward B Councillor; Mr. Asubiojo, the Director of Information and Civic Orientation; and other political leaders.

Residents expressed optimism that the drainage project would provide a lasting solution to the flooding issue, restore access to the federal road, and enhance their overall quality of life. The reconstruction has been hailed as a significant milestone in Hon. Oluwatuyi’s ongoing efforts to provide people-centered governance and impactful development.
