Oyebanji Felicitates Muslims At Eid - El- Fitri.



Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has felicitated Muslims in the State and the country in general on the celebration of Eid - El- Fitri, which marks the completion of the Ramadan fast, urging them to see Ramadan sent as a season of sacrifice and a time to seek the face of Allah rather.  


The Governor, in his goodwill Message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said the holy month of Ramadan symbolizes love, self-denial and sacrifice and as such, Muslims must sacrifice all their personal interests to seek truth and justice as the holy Quran teaches.



He noted that Ramadan which is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith has brought Muslims closer to Allah during the Holy month, calling on them to sustain the piety and spiritual rejuvenation achieved during the period.

While urging Muslims to use the Eid- el- Fitri to pray for Nigeria to overcome her current challenges , Oyebanji said it is only when peace reigns that Muslims and adherents of other religions can contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the country.




The Governor, who a few days ago, hosted an Iftar for Muslim leaders in the state, equally hailed Muslims in Ekiti State for their understanding and unflinching support for his administration through their prayers, timely counsel and robust participation. He urged them not to relent in their contribution to the religious harmony, peace and progress  being enjoyed in the State.

He also urged adherents of all religions in the state to join the government in promoting peace and orderliness as well as in restoring the core values of honesty, excellence, honour, hard work for which Ekiti State is renowned.


“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate the Muslim Ummah on the Eid-el- Fitri celebration, and pray that Almighty Allah will accept our prayers, grant all our heart desires and preserve our lives to witness many more celebrations.”, the Governor added.

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has assured non-indigenes resident in Ekiti that Governor Biodun Oyebanji's government won't sideline them on account of ethnicity or religious sentiment.

Mrs Afuye said Governor Oyebanji has factored them as strategic partners into his policy thrust, assuring that no dividend of democracy would be allowed to elude them as benefit accruing to indigenes shall be extended to all residents across board.

The Deputy Governor, gave the assurance at Shasha Market in Ikere- Ekiti, on Monday, while distributing palliatives to members of the Hausa community resident in the area to show solidarity as Ramadan fasting is wrapping up. 

Addressing the Hausa traders domiciled in the area, Mrs Afuye, in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, described Oyebanji as a lover of all Ekiti residents, regardless of ethnicity, religion and political biases.

She urged the Hausa traders to continually support the government to ensure security of lives of property of all residents, by collaborating with the authorities to rid the state of evil doers . 

Mrs Afuye stressed the imperative of all non-indigenes perceiving Oyebanji's government as theirs, saying unwarranted biases for ethnicity and religion won't help the nation, but would exacerbate the already tensed situation. 

Congratulating the Muslims for successful holding of the 30 days of Ramadan fasting, the Deputy Governor, urged the Muslim Ummah to replicate the culture of sacrifices, love, togetherness and piety demonstrated during the holy month in their daily activities, to entrench honesty and unity in the system.

"Let me on behalf of our Governor, Biodun Oyebanji congratulate you on the successful holding of the Ramadan fasting. What is most important to us as a government is you replicating the lessons learnt during this period in your daily activities, so that our nation can develop.

"Let me assure you that this government under Governor Oyebanji sees every resident as one. Whether you are from.the North or South, East or West, it is one big Nigeria. We are one family. We will continue to treat you as  strategic partners in the development of this state. 

"What the government is doing today indicates that we recognise Ramadan as a strong and strategic pillar of Islam. It also goes to show that the current government has no propensity for ethnic or religious bias, we are for all the residents. 

"I want to appeal to you, don't keep quiet to evils. Join our peace loving governor to fight vandalism and insecurity  if you see anyone trying to cause unnecessary violence or a breach of our security and peace, you can tell your leaders, they know how to inform the authorities for proper actions.

"These palliatives we are distributing to you today confirmed that we care about you. It shows that we perceive you as part of Ekiti, so continue to do your legitimate businesses here and make contributions that can help our  government", she advised.

Mrs Afuye promised that the governor would soon accede to the request of the community on the construction of the major road that connects the market to Ado-Ikere-Akure highway to ease transpiration along that axis. 

Applauding the government for the gesture, the leader of Hausa community in Shasha Market, Alhaji Musa Abduhameed Yaro, described Oyebanji and his deputy as God- fearing and caring leaders, who have been faithful to Hausa community in the state.

Alhaji Yaro pledged the loyalty and support of his people to Governor Oyebanji's administration for his recognition and care  for members.

The Sarkin Hausa, said his members shall replicate the gesture, by backing the government  to be able to deliver on its promises to the citizens of the state.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has called for a greater level of cooperation and collaboration among adherents of major religions in the state in order to promote religious harmony, noting that Ekiti people are one irespective of religion.

The Governor made the call on Sunday evening at the iftar he hosted for Muslim faithful and leaders across the state at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado Ekiti.



Governor Oyebanji, at the event attended by Muslim leaders, scholars, and the government functionaries, thanked the Muslim community for their continuous prayers, support and love for his administration and for sustaining religious harmony in the state, stressing that the peaceful atmosphere had brought about significant development in the state.



Emphasizing the importance of love and unity among adherents of different religions, the Governor stressed the role of Muslims in promoting peace, unity, and understanding in the society, noting that their actions and attitude should consistently reflect the values of compassion and tolerance taught by Islam.




He urged them to utilize the opportunity provided by the ongoing ramadan season to continue to pray for the development of the state and the country at large.

“Let me thank the Muslim faithful for your support for our government because the way you supported me before, during, and after the elections amazed me and my prayer is that I will not disappoint you.

“I will just urge our people that the love that exist between the two religions and the other faith in the state should be nurtured because when there is love the state will progress and I know that in Ekiti State, I keep telling my friends that we are one”. The Governor asserted.

In their goodwill messages at the event, a former Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Hakeem Jamiu, and the President, Ekiti State Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Hameed Bakare, lauded the Governor for holding the iftah with them and for according Muslims in the state a proper recognition. They added that the Muslim community had never had so well in the state.

Also in his lecture, the lead Missioner, Nasrul-Lahi-ii Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Ekiti State chapter, Alhaji Abdulfattah Abdulazeez expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his giant strides in the state and for being a god fearing leader.





He assured the Governor that Muslims in the state would continue to support and pray for his administration, stressing that it is the only way they can pay back the Governor for all his good deeds.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, the current Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and others has bagged the Anglican Church Awards, hailing the Governor’s achievements in office.


The Prestigious Award for Peace and Development Efforts in Ekiti State was presented by the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, also a member of the Synod who was delegated to make the presentation on behalf of the diocese by the President of the Synod and Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Rt. Revd. Olusola Ajayi at the 20th Synod of Ekiti Anglican Diocese held at All Saints Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti.




The church also conferred similar awards on Legal luminary and founder of the Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) Aare Afe Babalola, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Air Vice Marshal Rufus Ojuawo (Rtd), Honourable member of Federal House of Representative; Lady Evangelist Grace Adunni Akintayo; Chief (Mrs) Florence Mobolaji Kumapayi and Ven. Prof. Sam Akin Jegede.

Rt. Revd. Ajayi who announced the awards, described the recipients as quintessential personalities, adding that the prestigious awards were to encourage them to continue their laudable contribution to the work of God and humanity.

Rt Revd. Ajayi spoke glowingly of the giant strides and character of Governor Oyebanji which made the Diocese to consider him and others for the meritorious award. 

Describing Governor Oyebanji as a selfless and astute administrator, the Synod President explained that the award was in recognition of the outstanding development being witnessed in the State, his immense ability to promote and sustain peace as well as the good relationship between the government and religious institutions in advancing the well-being of the community and ruling the State with the fear of God and utmost love for the people.

The Bishop pledged the continued support and prayers of the leadership and members of the Diocese for the Governor and the State. 

“We welcome you all to this Synod session especially our Church patriarchs in attendance and their spouses; His excellency, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, level headed, honest, reliable, kindhearted, indefatigable, compassionate, resourceful and God fearing governor. We appreciate your outstanding contributions to the security of Ekiti people and your care for all the citizenry of Ekiti State. Remain blessed in the name of Jesus Christ”, he prayed. 

Accepting the award on behalf of the Governor, the State Head of Service, Engr. Sunday Komolafe expressed gratitude to the church for recognizing the Governor’s contributions to the development of the State and improving the lot of the people.

Komolafe stressed that Governor Oyebanji “is the right leader for Ekiti at this critical time” and solicited the continued support and prayers of the church for the efforts of the Governor to develop the State.

He assured that the Governor would not depart from his administration’s all-inclusiveness policy adding that all stakeholders would continue to have their say in governance towards achieving the goal of shared prosperity for all.

As part of measures to disseminate information on government activities, policies and achievements, the Ekiti State government has interfaced with Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti residents at the grassroots level.
The event tagged: “BAO Street Connect”, which is organised by the Office of Community Communications, sensitized residents of Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti over the weekend on the policies and achievements of the state government.


The colourful and breath-holding “BAO Street Connect” in both Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti communities gave residents the opportunity to have a feel of the policies and achievements of Governor Biodun Oyebanji through exciting educational talk shows, distribution of free gift packs, game competitions and other fascinating live action enactments.



Speaking with journalists, the Director General, Office of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Omotosho said the programme is an avenue to connect with the people of the state at the grassroots level.




She reiterated the commitment of Governor Oyebanji in ensuring that residents of the state are carried along with the activities of the state government saying that the governor is a proper grassroots governor.

According to Omotosho, the “BAO Street Connect” will spread across all the LGAs and LCDAs of the state in a bid disseminate the activities of Governor Oyebanji.

She said: “We unveiled BAO Street Connect officially in Ado-Ekiti some weeks ago. It’s another grassroots communication platform that we have unveiled to get more to the people so that information of government activities could be shared with the people in the grassroots.”

“More importantly, we are trying to leverage the strong bond of Governor Biodun Oyebanji with the people on the streets. We have come up with this idea because the governor is a governor of the street, who already shares fantastic communication with the people at the grassroots and of the streets.

“We also use that avenue to further take government information to the people on the streets. We will take it round. It will be every month. We will cut across all the LGAs and LCDAs in Ekiti State.”





Meanwhile, the residents of Ise-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti, who listened with rapt attention and participated in the thrilling event commended Oyebanji for being a people loving governor. They assured that they will continue to support his administration even beyond his first tenure adding that the lives of people of Ekiti State have tremendously improved since he assumed office.

The Daurama Foundation celebrated World Health Day with a community-focused event at Emab Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent. This event, held on April 6th, 2024, exemplifies the Foundation's dedication to advancing accessible healthcare and embracing the global theme "My Health My Right."

Amidst the lively atmosphere of the plaza, people from all walks of life gathered to prioritise their health. They eagerly participated in vital health check-ups and absorbed knowledge during engaging health education sessions. Led by experts from Medform Medical Limited, these talks covered a wide array of health topics, empowering individuals to take proactive steps towards their well-being. Alongside these enlightening discussions, attendees received handy health flyers filled with practical tips for healthier living. These efforts underscored the Foundation's commitment to ensuring that communities have the tools and knowledge they need to lead healthier lives.




At the helm of this compassionate initiative stood Dr. Samira Buhari, the dedicated Founder of Daurama Foundation, championing the belief that everyone, without exception, deserves access to quality healthcare. Alhaja Muibat Akingbade, a member of the EKSUTH Governing Council and a retired chief nursing officer, recently attended an Iftar event hosted by Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji. This gathering, held at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, was part of the ongoing Ramadan observances.

During the event, Akingbade took the opportunity to commend Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his significant efforts across various sectors, especially healthcare. She specifically highlighted the governor's approval of hazard allowance and pay parity for clinical workers, which has greatly benefited healthcare professionals in the state.

Akingbade also praised the governor's support for the Medical Residency Training Fund, emphasizing its importance in nurturing and developing medical talent within Ekiti State.
