The Ekiti State Government has approved a sum of N133,707,507.14 for the renovation of the Agricultural Farm Buildings (phase II) at Erinfun, along Federal Polytechnic road, Ado-Ekiti.

Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, revealed that this decision was reached during the recent State Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Council Chamber, New Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.

The gesture is part of efforts of the present administration to make farming attractive to Youths and boost food production.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji also announced the setting up an eight man committee on Food security headed by Hon Commissioner for Agriculture and food security with a mandate to come up with strategy to mitigate food crisis.

In a bid to enhance access to clean and potable water across Ekiti State, the government has approved the immediate rehabilitation of 121 boreholes spread across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 22 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). The sum of N159,542,787.33 (one hundred fifty-nine million, five hundred and forty-two thousand, seven hundred and eighty-seven naira, thirty-three kobo) has been allocated for this purpose.

The decision was reached during the recent State Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Council Chamber, New Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024. Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, made this announcement, highlighting the government's commitment to improving access to clean water for residents across the state.

The task of rehabilitating the boreholes will be undertaken by the Ekiti State Small Towns, Rural Water Supply, and Sanitation Agency using direct labor. The agency has set a completion target of two weeks for the project, emphasizing the urgency of the initiative to address the water needs of the populace.

This initiative forms part of the Sustainable Urban Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (SURWASH), which is supported by the World Bank under the Performance for Result Financing (P for R) scheme. Under this program, the World Bank will disburse $19.00 per person for the expected over 30,000 citizens who will benefit from the improved water supply.

The rehabilitation of these boreholes underscores the government's commitment to providing essential amenities and improving the quality of life for residents in both urban and rural areas of Ekiti State. With this initiative, the government aims to ensure equitable access to safe and reliable water sources, thereby promoting public health and well-being throughout the state.

The Ekiti State Government has approved the renovation of nine (9) Secondary Health Facilities, Government House Clinic, selected buildings at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Hospitals Management Board building, provision and installation of Solar System in the (9) nine Secondary Health Facilities and Hospitals Management Board Building.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Council Chamber, New Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.

Approval was also given for supply and installation of medical equipment to nine (9) general hospitals and government house clinic, Ado-Ekiti.

The statement partly reads: “Ekiti State Government is committed to ensuring wellness and good health of its residents. To ensure this, three key inputs are required, namely: good physical infrastructure, adequate and competent personnel and availability of drugs.

“The needs assessment conducted revealed that although the State has systematically addressed drug availability via the establishment of a Drug Management Agency, renovated 12 Secondary Health Facilities and recently improved health worker compensation. Huge infrastructure deficit at the remaining Secondary Health Care Facilities undermines the Administration’s goal of equitable access to health care.
Exco therefore approved N2,286,681,477.00 for Supply and installation of medical equipment renovation of nine (9) general hospitals.

“The hospitals to benefit from the supply of medical equipment include General Hospital, ljan Ekiti; General Hospital, ljesa-Isu Ekiti; General Hospital, llawe Ekiti; General Hospital, Okemesi Ekiti; General Hospital, Efon-Alaye; General Hospital, Iye Ekiti; General Hospital, Ayede Ekiti; General Hospital, llupeju/Itapa Ekiti; General Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti and the Government House Clinic.

“The facilities to be equipped are General Hospital, Ijan Ekiti; General Hospital, Ijesa-Isu Ekiti; General Hospital, Ilawe Ekiti; General Hospital, Okemesi Ekiti; General Hospital, Efon-Alaye; General Hospital, Iye Ekiti; General Hospital, Ayede Ekiti; General Hospital, Ilupeju/Itapa Ekiti; General Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti; Government House Clinic and EKSUTH.

“Modernization of our secondary health care facilities is a critical phase of a broader agenda to enhance service integration and improve the quality of care provided and received by the residents of Ekiti.

“Our approach to this modernization will focus on improving existing
infrastructure and furnishing the facilities with necessary equipment needed to provide high quality care.”

Tinubu Appoints New NIMASA Director-General.



President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Dayo Mobereola to serve as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for a renewable term of four years.
 
The appointment follows the exit of Mr. Bashir Jamoh, whose tenure recently expired.
 
Dr. Mobereola holds a Ph.D, and an M. Sc in Transport Economics from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport, England, and a fellow of the same institute in Nigeria.
 
He was the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) from 2003 to 2015 and was also the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State from 2015 to 2016.
 
In the private sector, he was Deputy Managing Director and Project Development Director at AFM Consulting Plc, London. He was also Senior Economist at British Petroleum Shipping Limited, London.
 
The President expects the new Director-General to bring his vast experience to bear in his new role and to achieve the mandate of NIMASA in providing world-leading standards of maritime safety administration, maritime labour regulation, marine pollution prevention and control, search and rescue, cabotage enforcement, shipping development and ship registration, in accordance with the policies and programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda for the sector as ably guided by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a solemn gathering at the Governor's office in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji received a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen from across the six geopolitical zones. Led by the Acting Chairman of the Forum and Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, the visit was to express condolences on the passing of Ekiti State APC Chairman, Barr. Paul Omotosho.




The somber occasion provided an opportunity for heartfelt condolences to be extended to Governor Oyebanji and the people of Ekiti State. The Governor, visibly moved by the gesture, welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by his fellow APC Chairmen during this difficult time.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji highlighted the significant contributions of Barr. Paul Omotosho to the APC in Ekiti State and beyond. He praised Omotosho's dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the party's ideals, describing him as a true patriot and a pillar of the APC family.



The Acting Chairman of the APC Chairmen's Forum, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire APC leadership across the country. He emphasized the unity and solidarity of the APC family, affirming their support for Governor Oyebanji and the people of Ekiti State during this period of mourning.

The condolence visit underscored the strength and unity of the APC as a political family, coming together to mourn the loss of one of its distinguished members. It was a celebration of joy, prayers, praises, and worship as Christ Miracle Church Mission (CMCM) of Christ the Solution Assembly, Housing Estate, Oke - Ila, Ado-Ekiti celebrated their One Year Anniversary at the Church Premise.

At a well-attended ceremony graced by all the pastors and notable members of the CMCM, Zone 1, special guests, and members of the Housing Estate Community, the Ekiti State Pastor of CMCM, Pastor Omowaye who is also the Pastor in charge of CMCM Ikere-Ekiti, Pastor Omowaye, congratulated the Pastor-in-charge of the church, Pastor (Mrs.)Omodele Adebola Okunbor, and her congregation for the celebration of one year of the church's existence in the area.

Pastor Omowaye said CMCM churches established through the God-sent man, Pastor (Proph.) Peter Abiola Adebisi , had proven their commitment and loyalty to the work of God on which they too were richly blessed.



He commended Pastor (Mrs.) Omodele Adebola Okunbor and members of the church for their steadfastness and unwavering support to the work of God and prayed for more grace to move the work of God forward among other churches in the area.

Also addressing the gathering of men and women of God, the Zonal Pastor, Pastor (Prof.) Kayode Olofintoye, expressed joy and satisfaction at the growth and development of CMCM churches in the State. He looked back at how the church of God was established by Prophet Peter Abiola Adebiyi in 1987, laying the spiritual rock they all sit upon till now.



While thanking God for Pastor (Mrs.) Omodele Adebola Okunbor's accomplishments, He also thanked her husband, Elder Okunbor, for his support, as well as the people for working for God. He called on the members to reach out to the lost souls with a message for the salvation of their souls on the last day.

Also, speaking at the occasion, the Pastor in charge of CMCM, Iworoko Branch, Pastor Afolabi Owa, advised Christians to put God first in all their undertakings in life and shun pride, rumor mongering, and seeking solutions where there are none. He urged Christians to meditate day and night to be rewarded bountifully at the end.




In his own contribution, the Pastor at CMCM Mega Parish, Pastor Segun Famoroti, expressed gratitude to God for the progress recorded by the church of God and charged the people to continue with their support and cooperate with the leadership of the church to move the church to greater heights. He urged Pastor (Mrs.) Okunbo not to relent in her efforts in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of the community.




The Baba Ori Oke of CMCM Mountain of Ado Ekiti, Pastor Kolawole Afolayan,who is also the Pastor in charged of CMCM Grace Assembly, Textile, Basiri, Ado praised the people for their commitment. He described Pastor (Mrs.) Okunbor as a hardworking Woman, honest, diligent, respected, God-fearing, and deeply rooted in the words of God, always in the forefronts of Church activities when she was at CMCM, Grace Assembly, Ado. Pastor Afolayan called on members to emulate her good works and to continue to be loyal and be their brother’s keeper, especially during this turbulent period in the Nation.



In his own speech at the occasion, Pastor Owolabi of CMCM Mega Parish felicitated with the Church of God on their celebration and called for more soul-lifting programs of the church in the area to gain more members.

Speaking on behalf of the family of Pastor (Mrs.) Omodele Adebola Okunbor, her immediate Sister, Rev.(Mrs.) Olagunju Yemisi of Good News Baptist Church,Aramoko Ekiti thanked God for her sister's life and for hearing the called of God, which she said had turned her life around for better.

At the program, the first lesson was read by Evangelist (Mrs.) Eunice Afolayan, reading the 1st Bible passage.



Pastor Odeyemi of CMCM Ile Ileri Parish, Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti, Pastor Femi Gabriel of CMCM, Iyin Ekiti, Pastor Ologbonyo, an Assistant Pastor at the Mega Parish, also felicitated with Pastor Okunbor and members of CMCM Christ the Solution Parish on their celebration of joy and prayed for more successful years ahead.

In her address, the Pastor of CMCM Christ the Solution, Housing Estate, Ado-Ekiti, and the celebrant, Pastor (Mrs.) Omodele Okunbor, thanked God for His mercies and goodness to her and her congregation since the creation of the branch. She shared her journey of hearing the call of God and the establishment of the church, starting from Akure in Ondo State.

Pastor (Mrs.) Okunbor recounted her encounter with the Holy Spirit, where she received a divine mission to establish the church, which began as a house fellowship. She emphasized the importance of obedience to God's call and the collective efforts of all members in achieving the church's success.

The program concluded with awards of Excellence to Notable Nigerians, among them were; Pastor (Prof.) Lawrence Kayode Olofintoye, Pastor (Dr.) Olusegun Famoroti, Pastor Kolawole Afolayan, Evangelist Bade-Gboyega Oyebade, CMCM State Youths Leader.
