Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke's Swift Action Promotes Peace Amidst Ifon-Ilobu Land Dispute.

In a commendable display of leadership, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has taken decisive steps to quell tensions and promote peace in the wake of a land dispute between the communities of Ilobu and Ifon-Orolu. The Governor's recent imposition of a curfew in the affected areas has garnered praise for his commitment to maintaining law and order.

The conflict arose following a tragic incident in which a farmer named Sodiq lost his life in a disputed land dispute, heightening tensions in the region. However, Governor Adeleke wasted no time in addressing the situation.

The announcement of the curfew was made through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Kolapo Alimi. According to the statement, the curfew will be in effect from 8pm to 6am daily in the local governments of Orolu and Irepodun, where the dispute is centered. This temporary restriction on human and vehicular movement is aimed at preventing further violence and safeguarding lives and property.

Governor Adeleke, while taking these measures, also called for unity and peaceful coexistence between the two local governments involved. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the state's reputation for peace, love, and unity, encouraging residents to embrace these values.

Furthermore, the Governor made it clear that anyone found violating the curfew in Irepodun and Orolu local governments would face appropriate legal action. This stern stance is meant to deter individuals from engaging in activities that could exacerbate the situation.

Governor Adeleke's quick response and commitment to preserving peace in the face of adversity have been widely commended by both residents and observers. His dedication to the wellbeing of the affected communities stands as a testament to his leadership and desire for harmony among the people of Osun State.

Atiku, Obi caused own defeat at February poll, Soyinka insists.

Atiku, Obi caused own defeat at February poll, Soyinka insists.
.....Says politicians, cohorts should accept consequences of their choices.
From Nobel Laureaute Wole Soyinka yesterday came a fresh jibe at Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, both of who lost the February presidential election.
Soyinka said the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) were the architects of their own defeat.

“The ballot tally accurately reflected what happens when a political party splits itself in two, especially so critically close to an election,” he said in a statement in South Africa.

This comes on the heels of his statement earlier in the week that “I can say categorically that Peter Obi’s party came third not even second, and the leadership knew it but they want to do what we call in Yoruba gbajue that is force of lies.”

The first statement had sparked angry reactions and insults from Obi’s supporters.
In Pic: Prof. Wole Soyinka Nobel Laureaute.

But an unperturbed Soyinka said yesterday that politicians and their cohorts should learn to take responsibility for the consequences of their choices within democratic options.

In yesterday’s statement entitled THE CAPE TOWN RE-ENTRY, the playwright said: “The mistake we all continue to make is our insistence on regarding the recent Nigerian elections as an adversarial thriller. The contrary is the truth.

“The ballot tally accurately reflected what happens when a political party splits itself in two, especially so critically close to an election.

“What promised to be a spectacular contest is transformed into a Feast of Voluntary Donation of the spoils of war.

“That, however, is not always the ultimate destination – the re-gifting may continue, prodded by a sudden surge of regret.

“There remains, lurking in the background, a far more potent beneficiary. In this case, we easily recall it as the unregistered but loudly canvassed IPP – the Interim Peoples Party, usually to be found in bed with the military.

“The notorious Datti interview, menacing, intimidating and unambiguous, sets the scene for such re-entry. Then, history repeats itself over and over again, as currently manifested along the West African sub-region.

“The “call to arms” is made literal by those whose trade is precisely that of arms.

“Barring such abrupt “patriotic intervention”, however, the last word belongs to the Supreme Court. Until that conclusive hour, wherever and whenever the subject turns to the Nigerian elections, my contribution can be taken for granted in advance: Peter Obi did not win the Nigerian 2023 elections.

“Jointly with his erstwhile colleague of the PDP, Abubakar Atiku, they donated the outcome, even before the voting.

“Let politicians and their cohorts learn to take responsibility for the consequences of their choices within democratic options.”

In his first intervention earlier in the week, he had said the LP leadership knew that Obi lost the election.

Speaking at an event entitled ‘The lives of Wole Soyinka’, the Nobel Laureaute said LP leadership was only trying to force a lie on Nigerians by claiming that Obi won the election.

He said: “This recent election – two things happened first of all. One party took over the labour movement, which is not my favourite movement, and then it became a regional party.

“Whereas it was a marvelous breach into the established two camps, Peter Obi achieved something remarkable there, that he broke that mould.

“However, he did not win the election. “I can say categorically that Peter Obi’s party came third, not even second, and the leadership knew it but they want to do what we call in Yoruba ‘gbajue’, that is force of lies.”

He said the LP leadership was even out to instigate young Nigerians to protest the outcome of the election on the “banner of lies and deceit”.

“They were going to send some of the hardliners, proud young people into the street to demonstrate,” he said.

“I’m also ready to be among such demonstrators but only on the banner of truth, not on lies and deceit.

“This party wanted the same thing (referring to 2011 post-election violence) to happen on the basis of a lie and we find this vice-presidential candidate on television boasting, insisting, threatening and trying to intimidate both the judiciary and the rest.

“What kind of government will result from that kind of conduct? In addition, they did not know this but they were being used.

“Before the election, there were certain clandestine forces, including some ex-generals, who were already calling for an interim government before the elections began.

“Some of them were known figures, including a proprietor of a university calling for an interim government before the election took place.”

Senate Speaks On Impeachment Plot Against Akpabio.

The Senate has dismissed a media report that some senators are planning to impeach the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, for allegedly being a puppet of President Bola Tinubu.

It had earlier reported that a media report on Saturday claimed that some senators had already met in Saudi Arabia to finalize the moves, adding that Akpabio had neglected his colleagues and failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

However, in a statement on Saturday, the Senate Spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, described the alleged plot to impeach Akpabio as a hoax and a fantasy.

The Senate spokesman stated that the Red Chamber is a united and harmonious family, stressing that the Senate under Akpabio has performed its legislative and constitutional duties diligently.

Adaramodu said: “We have just been alerted to a fabricated and malicious story in a section of the media, of purported and imaginary plots of leadership change in the Senate.

“The Nigerian Senate is a united and harmonious family. This fictitious tale is in the same category as the fake and false story of 100 million per legislator.

“It is pertinent to note that the 10th Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, has performed its legislative and constitutional duties diligently.

“Within a span of less than 60 legislative days, the Senate has passed bills and motions that have improved the lives of Nigerians. It has screened and confirmed Service Chiefs and Ministers, among others, apart from very essential oversight functions.

“We urge the mischief-makers, who operate undoubtedly outside the Senate, desperate to cause disharmony through media stunts and thus undermining Nigeria’s democracy, to exercise caution.

“The Senate should be allowed to breathe and focus on its national assignments so that the Nigerian project can move forward.

“The media, too, should be discerning not to be used as a tool by these peddlers of fake and bad news.”

President Bola Tinubu Nominates Two New Youth Ministers.

In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Mr. Ayodele Olawande to key positions in his cabinet. Dr. Jamila Ibrahim has been nominated to serve as the Minister of Youth, pending confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mr. Ayodele Olawande, on the other hand, has been nominated to serve as the Minister of State for Youth, also pending Senate confirmation.

This announcement was made public by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement released on Sunday, titled ‘President Tinubu nominated new ministers for federal ministry of youth.’

Notably, this move comes on the heels of Tinubu's recent decision to redeploy Abubakar Momoh, who was initially nominated as Youth Minister, to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, 37, is a medical doctor with a commendable track record. She most recently held the position of President of the Progressive Young Women Forum and has previously served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr. Ayodele Olawande brings a wealth of experience as a community development expert and youth leader within the ruling All Progressives Congress. His recent role was in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation, spanning from 2019 to 2023.

These nominations mark the latest additions to President Tinubu's 47-man cabinet. In a statement, President Tinubu urged the nominees to embody the dynamism, innovative spirit, and unwavering productivity that are characteristic of Nigeria's youth as they take up their responsibilities.

This development is expected to be closely watched as the new ministers prepare to contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria's youth and the nation as a whole. Confirmation by the Senate will be the next crucial step in the process.

2023 World Clean–Up Day: Oyebanji Frowns At Indiscriminate Dumping Of Refuse.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has expressed dissatisfaction towards the attitudes of the residents of the state regarding indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the streets of Ado-Ekiti, in the state capital.

Governor Oyebanji who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Mrs Tosin Aluko stated this in Ado Ekiti on Saturday during the 2023 World Clean-Up Day, aimed at increasing the awareness on the mismanaged waste crisis and mobilizing all spheres of the society to participate in the Clean-Up actions.

The Governor who lamented the detestable state of the environment despite government investment towards ensuring that the people lives in a clean, safe and healthy environment, expressed concern over the way residents have been making the state look unhygienic.

While calling on non-governmental organization (NGO) and relevant stakeholders to join the state government in sensitizing the people against indiscriminate dumping of waste and towards achieving a clean, safe and healthy environment, the Governor charged the people to develop ideas on how to convert waste to wealth creation to boost the state economy.

“It is sad to see how our state have become used to improper waste disposal, no place is exempted either public or private buildings, residential apartments, markets, streets, roads, medians, drainages, canals and undeveloped plots of lands which have turned to undesignated refuse dumping Sites. I must say, this is not the Ekiti we all grow up to know.” The Governor asserted.

Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Ekiti State Management Authority, Engr. Ayoola Osalusi commended the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji for approving the celebration.

Osalusi who berated the attitude of residents of the state towards waste disposal, urged the people to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages, medians and roadside. Obasanjo's Public Insult on Oyo State Royal Fathers, A Disgrace to Yoruba Traditional Institution: Omoluabi Group Reacts.

Obasanjo's Public Insult on Oyo State Royal Fathers, A Disgrace to Yoruba Traditional Institution: Omoluabi Group Reacts.
It has come to the notice of Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio- cultural Group through a viral video in circulation where the former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo insulted royal fathers in their full traditional regalia at a public function reported to have been held somewhere in Oyo state.

Asking the traditional rulers to stand up in the public as the only way to honour his presence is barbaric, unacceptable and should be totally condemned by all. He Olusegun Obasanjo has once again shown to the Yoruba people that his citizenship and indigeneship of yoruba land calls for further doubt following rumors that the former president is not a true born of Yorubaland.
Omoluabi group deem it fit to call on all sons and daughters of yoruba land to immediately chastise and rebuke such act which should not be condoned an inch. These royal fathers are community heads and custodians of traditions.
They represent deities from the popular Yoruba land and should not be drag into such public mess.

Can he Obasanjo try such to the Oba of Benin? Can he attempt such to any emir in the north? Such actions in the public asking kabiyesis' to stand up and greet him is tantamount to disrespecting the tradition and culture of showing absolute respect to our royal fathers' in Yoruba land. Up till now we are yet to read on any media space that he Obasanjo congratulated the new President of Nigeria neither has he passed any comment positive enough since Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in as Commander- in- chief of the Federal republic of Nigeria. Yoruba nation watches the actions of this man and some others in same manner who seems not to be comfortable with the 2023 renewed hope agenda victory.  Posterity will definitely lurk around to judge them .

Also to the royal fathers' they have shown so much disappointment and acts that further diminish their age long values and dignity they carry as kings in their various domains. None of those kings in attendance could challenge such public show of shame from an ex- president not even an incumbent. We must begin to get it right again in Yoruba land by choosing kings through traditional rites and deities that do not negotiate truth for lies. If we are quiet over this matter, Governors and even Local Government chairmen will do worse to our traditional rulers in the public space.

Clarion call to the Ooni of Ife Oba Ogunwusi Enitan, Ojaja II and other high ranking obas'  to immediately release a press statement on behalf of the Yoruba council of Obas' being their supreme head and rebuff such actions as not appropriate while open apology be sent in video and in writing to the good people of Yoruba land and yoruba speaking people across the globe. If not done, we assure you that the worse will be done even to the Ooni himself by other politicians who may think they have seen it all.
Omoluabi Team Alliance as  a socio- cultural group will continue to protect the interest of the Yoruba nation in all circumspect.

Obasanjo should prove us wrong immediately that he is a worthy son of Yoruba land and therefore will make his apology public any moment soon for such condemnable act.

Think Omoluabi!
Act Omoluabi!!
