Omoluabi New Year Message to South westerners and Nigerians: 2023 Year of Renewed Hope.

Omoluabi New Year Message to South westerners and Nigerians: 2023 Year of Renewed Hope.
We are now faced with the birth of a new season and year that comes with promises of good tidings. 2022 is gone and has become a past we have to put behind us all. However, the challenges and troubles that came with 2022 has finally been buried with it. Nigerians again now have a clean slate to write on as the year 2023 creeps in a numerical order of arrangement. Nigerians well noted for their tolerance, zealousness, ability to weather the storm and a special breed of people with a unique stamina to absorb shocks under all circumstances, it is an attribute that has continue to keep the country going since 1999 till date. No wonder, Nigerians are being described as the happiest people on earth.

Fellow compatriots and tribesmen, we can only hope for better as the journey into 2023 has just begun today 1st January, 2023. Leaders should turn a new leaf by putting into consideration first the welfare of citizens. The provision of good roads, quality water, qualitative education, employment and other good welfare packages are responsibilities of government in all nations around the globe, while the respect for basic and fundamental human rights is a must in a sane society. All these are indeed the rights of Nigerians. Regular payment of workers' salaries and emoluments is a right that should not be politicized at all. God sure have a way of compensating good and godly leaders who make the welfare of the masses a priority. The year 2022 like 2020 has been tagged to be worrisome years for Nigerians as the country ' s economy became so unfriendly to all. Myriads of challenges like economic instability, downturn, collapse and total closure of some corporate and private organizations who could not cope with cost of diesels for power generation and worst of it all the closure of Nigerian universities for eight(8) months which led to a collapsing system in a manner that calls for urgent attention.

The country no doubt need attention and has to be repositioned to avoid a further collapse in all sectors. We have the chance to collectively correct the wrongs of last year beginning from this moment. We must continue to look forward to getting our hope renewed as a people, we must shun leaders whose policies and ideologies are anti people and give room for leaders with sustainable visions, plans and understand economy. Leaders who knows too well how to run a system that will be beneficial to all irrespective of ethnic, religious and language heterogeneity. Nigeria is a giant, blessed, endowed with both human and natural resources. We must collectively resolve to make Nigeria habitable for us all and unite ourselves than ever.

Way forward for Nigeria in 2023 is to allow us all reflect the tenets of our Omoluabi(better pikin) in us across all categories of persons who are passionate and committed to refix our nation, which is suppose to be a home to all Africans and and a choice destination for expatriates.
Let the masses speak in one voice through the ballot and decide who provides leadership to the country as we go into the poll for the general election this year.
God bless the Southwest(Oodua a gbe wa oo)
God bless Nigeria.
May the good spirit of Omoluabi never depart from us all(Amen)

Speaking shortly after signing the budget christened “Budget of Strong Beginning” at the Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti on Friday, Oyebanji expressed his appreciation to the people of the state for their overwhelming and unflinching support for his administration, noting that his first fiscal document in office was carefully crafted after due consultation with all relevant stakeholders in the drive to lay a solid foundation for his administration and achieve the desired prosperity for the people.
He expressed his profound gratitude to members of the State House of Assembly for their cohesiveness and for passing the 2023 appropriation bill in record time as well as doing thorough public opinion and legislative scrutiny of the bill before its final passage.

The Governor, who recalled that he presented the bill to the House on November 3rd, 2022 to afford the Honourable members sufficient time to scrutinize the document and engage all the relevant stakeholders in a bid to abide with the Fiscal Sustainability Plan that ample time should be allowed for legislative processing of annual appropriation bill, emphasized the focus and vision of the administration to make the state a land of prosperity, peace and progress where the people can reap the fruit of their labour in dignity, good health and safety.

He thanked the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) secretariat for providing technical support to the state in developing the latest NCOS template which will be used in the publication of the 2023 budget which is expected to be replicated in all the MDAs to further equip officers of the state for the implementation of the budget as well as ensure easy and seamless implementation of the fiscal document by the end users in view to meeting the disbursement link indicator.
While stating that that the budget was designed to lay a strong foundation for the administration by leveraging on the achievements of the past administration.

Governor Oyebanji disclosed that the breakdown of the budget would soon be officially presented to the members of the public by the Special Adviser on Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management
He noted that the signing of the appropriation bill into law was the administration’s affirmation of its readiness to ensure fiscal discipline and effective implementation of the budget.

The Governor used the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of his administration to further collaborate with development partners and donor agencies in the drive to hasten development of the state.

“It is my pleasure to be in your midst today to sign into law the 2023 budget of strong beginning in fulfilment of my constitutional obligation bestowed on me by the 1999 constitution as amended as Governor of Ekiti state. I count it a rare privilege to serve the good people of Ekiti state in this capacity at this auspicious time. The year 2023 budget, which is the first fiscal document of our administration has been carefully crafted after due consultation with all relevant stakeholders to lay a solid foundation for our administration.

“I thank the good people of Ekiti state for their unflinching support and cooperation since my inauguration on October 16, 2022. Your support, which has been overwhelming has kept us going and resolute in our determination to further transform and develop our state through our blueprint as encapsulated in the six pillars of our administration. I thank you all for the love, prayers and unwavering support as we settle down to impact lives and banish poverty from our land through job creation and creating the enabling environment for micro, small and medium enterprises to thrive and empowerment programme for the teeming youths and women.

“I’m very delighted to state unequivocally that the House of Assembly worked tirelessly, conscientiously and diligently in the overall best interest of the good people of Ekiti state to ensure painstaking and careful legislative review and timely passage of the appropriation bill without compromising due process and quality review. It is instructive to place on record that without negotiating the autonomy of the three arms of government, the 6th House of Assembly has been a worthy partner in progress with the executive, rather that constitution a cog in the wheel of progress.

“As you are undoubtedly aware, budgeting is dynamic, on this note, our budget has fully adopted the National Charter of Accounts template, which is a requirement for the State Fiscal Transparency Sustainability Programme for result and now the state action on Business Enabling Reforms of the World Bank. He said.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bunmi Adelugba commended the Governor for making the budget process people driven as recommended under State Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainable Programme (SFTAS).

The Speaker, who urged the Governor to ensure proper implementation of the appropriation law to the letter prayed for robust economy that would assist the administration achieve success in driving the six pillars to desired end.

The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet." "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other." "A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better."

The marketability of a product is a multiplier effect of its general acceptability which depends on its accessibility, flexibility and daily usefulness. In the life of human, one's acceptability is not an easy or minute asset but a big one which can only be given by God in His magnanimity. This is evident in the biblical story of the baptism of Jesus Christ where the voice says "this is my beloved son, hear ye him." Having understand this, you will agree with me that it is at prerogative of God to determine who enjoys this acceptability.

There is no doubt about the fact that Akin Rotimi, is a goal getter and results oriented leader.

Akin Rotimi's politics is solely for the betterment of the masses, and it is devoid of hate or slander. He presents himself for service and lets his antecedents do the talking. This is a politics of pedigree, the will and ability to serve runs in the blood. It is an identity of a dynasty. This is a unique opportunity to make bold our voices, and allow our voices to ride on a unique wavelength, transcending Oceans and Bridges; Hills and Valleys, echoing across the four walls of the Assembly. Akin Rotimi is here for service, stay tuned.

Luwoo Gbagida is the only female Queen Ooni in the history of Ile-Ife. Ooni Luwo Gbagida became Ooni around 1100CE. As reported, she was a woman of immense physical beauty - a proper "slay queen" who took pride in her attractiveness.

The Ooni of Ife is seen as the most supreme or paramount sovereign in Ile Ife, which is regarded as the source of the Yoruba race.

Generally, he is recognised by his subjects as their spiritual leader and Chief Custodian of traditions.

There was no date to give an exact clue to how long she was on the thrown for. Dating only started from the 38th Ooni Akinmoyero 1770 – 1800, yet some historians claim that Ooni Luwo Gbagida reigned around 1100.

Also, this revelation tells forgotten story of women involvement in contributing to the society, not just as workers but as a leaders.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
IlΓ¨-IfαΊΉ̀ is a town in Osun state seen as the cradle and ancestral home and source of the Yoruba race, making any presiding ruler, the Ọọ̀ni, a reverred and very powerful leader.

Because Nigerian ancient history was mostly passed down through oral tradition, transcribed lists of the previous Oonis differ and sometimes, contradict each other.

However, most accounts have stated that a female, Ooni Luwoo Gbagida, was the 21st Ooni of Ife, the supreme traditional ruler of Ile Ife. She succeeded the 21st Ooni of Ife, Ooni Giesi and was succeeded by the 22nd Ooni of Ife, Ooni Lumobi.

Ooni Luwo Gbagida was crowned spiritual leader, and chief custodian of the source of the Yoruba race around 1100CE.

LΓΊwo GbΓ gΓ¬dΓ‘, descendant of Otaataa from Owode compound, Okerewe. She was the first and only female to take the crown as Ooni after the demise of Ooni Giesi.

She was said to have been married to Chief Ọbalọran of Ilode and became the mother of Adekola Telu, the founder and Oluwo of Iwo town.

(Some historical piece claims that Obaloran was also a king not a chief; there were many obas in Ile Ife, apart from the Ooni).

She was also known to be the one to commission unique Yoruba custom of construction of decorative pavements; open-air courtyards paved the pottery shreds.

She was also known to commission the unique Yoruba custom of construction of decorative pavements and open-air courtyards paved with pottery shreds.

The streets of Ile-Ife were paved with quartz pebbles and broken pottery as punishment for anyone who committed an offence.

The offenders were ordered to bake the clay, and afterwards use their bare hands to break it into pieces and then lay it on the floor for the queen to walk on.

WRONG MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT QUEEN LUWOO GBAGIDA:
It’s intriguing that Ile-Ife once had a female Ooni. There must be very good reasons Queen Luwoo was trusted to be crowned in her time – a concept known as “gender equality”.

Also, this revelation tells forgotten story of women involvement in contributing to the society, not just as workers but as a leaders.

There was no record of luw Gbagida marrying plenty of husbands just because she can, afterall kings are known for their taste in multiple women once they assume the throne.

She is known to birth a great king among others; Oluwo Adekola Telu. She started a dynasty that has thrived for centuries.

The current Oluwo of Iwo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi is from her bloodline.

Γ€tΓΊnkọ́ Unity Cup: Making Sports Viable for All.

Γ€tΓΊnkọ́ Unity Cup: Making Sports Viable for All.
Over the weekend, I was on field to watch the quarter finals of the Γ€tΓΊnkọ́ Unity Cup - ohh, such great joy seeing all these talents play ~ Hon. Henrich.
Today, I am honestly proud of what the Henrich Initiative/ Henrich FC team and I have been able to do with sports development at the community level.

I must confess that even though I do not engage professionally in any major sporting activity – I have a genuine love for every form of athleticism.
For those who do not know – I run a club – known as Henrich FC based in Ikere.

Currently, I sponsor the Atunko Unity Cup taking place across the three Local Government Areas (Ikere, Ise, Ekiti South West) that make up Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1.

The competition is the latest in the series of competitions that I have promoted in the last four years.

(PS: IG users - Please head to Facebook or LinkedIn for the rest of this article)

Four years ago when I started sponsoring football competitions and advanced to starting a club – it was defined by the following factors;

i)                    A need to improve harmony in the community

ii)                   Reduce unemployment

iii)                 Harness and develop individual talents

iv)                 Reduce crime rates

In two years, we have built a team that recognises, nurtures and supports football talents. In our own little way we have taken no less than 20 persons from the unemployment pool and helped them incentivise their skills.

We have also exposed no less than 10 coaches and 3 football administrators to world class coaching trainings and facilitated the training of one for an advanced coaching training.

I do not say these things to count them as achievements but to highlight the relevance of an otherwise undermined sector as 'Sports' in Nigeria.

Although, we cannot fully assess the impact of sports on Nigeria’s economy – it is noteworthy that sports, computed as part of the entertainment and recreation sector, still contributes its widow’s mite to the GDP.

For me – a core part of my legislative interests is to find ways to improve investments in sports.

As a lawmaker, I intend to help formulate and drive the implementation of a sports policy that mandates sporting activities in primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions as well as promoting local sports development.

The bill/policy document will also mandate tertiary institutions to give scholarships and other concessions on the basis of sporting achievements.

This would provide support for such talents to pursue their educational goals and also continue their sports career so they can become future Tobi Amusans.

I understand that finance is a major impediment to the growth of sports in the country, hence, as part of oversight, I will be hoping to take a cursory look at the various sports associations and see ways we can attract more government and private funding to support these national sporting bodies.

I'll pause my thoughts here and hope that everyone grasp the ideas expressed here.

We are heading to the Green Chambers with a plan - and we can make it work together.

Join the Γ€tΓΊnkọ́ Movement Now.
