Information and Civic Orientation Department Commences Staff Welfare Trends Initiative.

The Department of Information and Civic Orientation, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government (IILG), Igede-Ekiti, has commenced a structured staff welfare trends initiative aimed at strengthening workforce morale, enhancing productivity, and promoting efficient service delivery within the department.
The programme formally kicked off on Monday, with the distribution of large brand of foodstuffs purchased through the collective decision of staff using their January welfare contributions.
Speaking at the commencement of the initiative, the Director of the Department, Mr. Asubiojo Olanipekun, described staff welfare as a fundamental pillar in addressing the immediate needs and overall well-being of personnel. He stressed that a motivated and well-supported workforce remains indispensable to effective public communication, civic engagement, and the successful execution of official responsibilities at the grassroots.
According to him, genuine welfare consciousness among staff promotes commitment, unity, and professionalism, which ultimately translates to responsible governance and improved service delivery.
Contributing, Mrs Augustine Tope, Prince kunle and Sunday Afolabi, alongside the ebullient and highly punctual Mrs. Okeowo Omolayo, emphasized that the welfare trends initiative is designed to proactively identify, monitor, and respond to the evolving needs of staff, while fostering a culture of care, inclusiveness, and institutional support across all cadres of the department.
In his brilliant and logical submission, Mr. Wale Fajuyigbe stated that the initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government in promoting professionalism, accountability, and human-centred administration, particularly in the discharge of information dissemination and civic orientation duties.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director, Mrs. Salawu Esther, assured staff of the department’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the welfare programme, stressing that staff welfare would continue to receive priority attention in policy formulation and day-to-day administrative decisions.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Aina Olawole Festus, described the initiative as timely and commendable, especially in view of prevailing economic realities, noting that it reflects responsive leadership and a renewed commitment to staff well-being at the local government level.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Mr. Adedipe Olakitan, reaffirmed the resolve of the committee to consolidate on the initiative as part of efforts to build a more motivated, cohesive, and service-driven workforce within the department.
In his proactive, loving , logical, and forward-looking remarks, the Director, Mr. Asubiojo Olanipekun, popularly known as ASUU, emphasized the need to strengthen and sustain the welfare committee through regular cash repayment of household welfare items and the prompt payment of monthly welfare dues by all members.
He further informed staff that the Ekiti State Local Government Information Officers have elected new officials to oversee the welfare and development of Information Departments across all Local Governments and LCDAs in the state. He charged staff to continue supporting the newly elected executives with prayers, cooperation, and obedience to official directives, expressing confidence that they would make the service proud.
The newly elected officers are Mr. Wumi Agbanigo as Coordinator, Mr. Sunday Olatunji as Secretary, and Mrs. Joseph Awelewa as Treasurer.
Mr. Asubiojo ,concluded by noting that consistency and collective responsibility remain the backbone of a functional welfare system, urging staff to uphold unity, discipline, and mutual support as the department continues to advance its welfare agenda for the collective good.
