In a remarkable display of leadership and commitment, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State orchestrated momentous ceremonies earlier today, where he inaugurated more key officials who are set to drive the state towards greater heights.

The newly appointed Head of Service, Engr Sunday Komolafe, and two Commissioners, Prof Bolaji Aluko and Rt. Hon Karounwi Oladapo took their oaths in an atmosphere teeming with promise and determination.

The Governor's words echoed through the Conference Hall at the heart of the Governor's office, as he restated his administration's unyielding stance against indiscipline and any form of activity that might cast a shadow on the integrity of his administration.

But that was just that.

In another powerful testament to Governor Oyebanji's commitment to his promises, a staggering sum of N150 million found its way into the hands of retired Local Government Workers and Primary School Pensioners. The gratitude was palpable, as these individuals who have given so much to the state can now go home happy and smiling in recognition of their once active service to the state.

Governor Oyebanji's dedication to action over mere words has undeniably left an indelible mark. His vision for Ekiti State is not just an abstract idea, but a tangible reality that is unfolding before the eyes of its people.

As the newly sworn-in officials take their positions, they are met with both congratulations and a challenge — to uphold the governor's promises and to serve the people of Ekiti with unwavering diligence.

No doubt, Ekiti State stands on a road to progress, and with Governor Oyebanji at the helm, the path forward is illuminated with hope, prosperity, and a commitment to a better future.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji on Tuesday swore in the newly appointed Head of Service, Engr Sunday Komolafe, with a charge on the state Civil service to embrace innovation in order to achieve effectiveness and efficiency of the service.

The Governor who also inaugurated two commissioners- Prof Bolaji Aluko and Rt. Hon Karounwi Oladapo, restated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state.

Performing the inauguration at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Governor Oyebanji urged Engr Komolafe who was inaugurated as the 10th substantive Head of Service in the state Civil Service, to mobilize and inspire the bureaucratic apparatus of the State for the realization of the Six Pillars of his administration and continuous implementation of the Civil Service Transformation Strategy.

The Governor, at the event that was also attended by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye; Wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bolaji Olagbaju; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro; members of the State Executive Council; traditional rulers and body of Permanent Secretaries, said his administration would continue to meet up with its responsibility with the expectation that the workers would reciprocate its good gestures with dedication, loyalty, honesty and hard work.

While affirming that the appointment of Engr. Komolafe as the Head of Service was based on merit and unblemished record of service, Governor Oyebanji said, his administration would continue to prioritize workers welfare and would reward  excellence and dedication to duty.

“We have demonstrated our unwavering commitment to the welfare of the workers in the payment of salary arrears, monthly deductions, leave bonus arrears, implementation of minimum wage adjustment across all cadres, implementation of promotion benefits to concerned workers, payment of pension and gratuity arrears, among others.

“All of these are an indication of our fervent commitment to the welfare of our workers. We therefore expect the workers to similarly reciprocate this gesture through hard work and commitment to the realization of our agenda. On our part, we will continue to ensure that we provide conducive environment for our workers to thrive.” , the Governor said.

The Governor also called on the new Head of Service to have a firm grip of the service by ensuring that there is no room for idleness and professional misconduct,  adding that everyone must work in consonance with the spirit and focus of the administration and the extant rules and regulations of civil service.

“As a Government, We understand the centrality of the Service to the successes of our dreams; we are, therefore, firmly committed to the welfare and well-being of our workers.  As we do our best to meet up with our obligations to the workers, we expect nothing but dedication, loyalty, honesty and hard work from the workers of the State.

The Governor, while inaugurating Prof. Mobolaji Aluko and Hon. Oladapo Karounwi, two Commissioners, who were unavoidable absent during the last inauguration and retreat for government officials, earlier in the month, urged them to familiarize themselves with programmes, policies and execution strategies of the administration in addition to signing the performance bond.

He also stressed the need for all government officials to demonstrate the highest level of probity, integrity, decency and decorum,  adding that his administration would not tolerate any act of indiscipline, irresponsibility or anything that can bring embarrassment to government.

The Governor further advised them not to use the Privileges of government to oppress the people or engage in accumulative tendencies. He added, “As political leaders, you are all expected to be connected at the grassroots and to be worthy stewards of the Administration. Nothing ignoble or scandalous must be associated with any of us.

In his response, the new Head of Service, Engineer Sunday Komolafe expressed his appreciation to God and Governor Oyebanji for the confidence he reposed in him and for his passion towards the development of the public service through his reform and transformation agenda.

He promised that public service under his watch would perform its duties with diligence and utmost responsibility that would ensure the delivery of quality public service in a timely, effective and efficient manner without compromising professionalism, transparency and accountability.

Engr Komolafe assured the Governor that he will strive to strengthen the Ekiti state civil service to become a real 21st century civil service that is highly innovative and technologically driven.

From House Of Reps To Minister: The Unique Journey Of Bunmi-Tunji-Ojo.

From House Of Reps To Minister: The Unique Journey Of Bunmi-Tunji-Ojo.

As the populace is fast becoming disillusioned with politics due to its murky nature coupled with the horrible antecedents of politicians who had steered affairs of the nation, the trust on these politicians have been obliterated in the minds of many.

The ones freely entrusted with powers based on rhetoric or who firmly hold the grip of leadership through ostensive demagogue worsen the situation through their lackluster performances amidst avalanche of resources provided to turn around the fortunes of some poverty stricken voters who were caught in the noose of the tall talk.

Without a modicum of doubt, no elixir yet to correct the warped notion about politicians who enriched themselves with tax payers’ money at the expense of the masses.

The somewhat taciturn young man in his unsual ways, stormed the political space despite the incontrovertible fact that politics is not seen in his gene. He took people aback with unprecedented achievements in the elongated history of politics.

Bunmi-Tunji-Ojo, a former member of the Green Chamber representing Akoko North East/Northwest Federal Constituency, has proven to be different and has outclassed the “Seniors” already in the league of retired politicians.

His unique foray into politics is akin to that of the commissioning of the apostles who made remarkable exploits.

Bunmi Tunji-Ojo won his election into the Lower Chamber and also broke the jinx of serving two terms by winning re-election despite the obstinacy by some prehistoric political players lacking the requisite knowledge and expertise in politics.

While he was at Green Chamber as the Chairman House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Bunmi-Tunji-Ojo reinvigorated trust by doing a yeoman’s job.

When considering project delivery, BTO has effectively overseen the completion of various initiatives, such as the Akoko Anglican Grammar School ICT Centre, Arigidi Akoko, Okota High School Skill Acquisition Centre, Arigidi Akoko, Arigidi to Iye Road, Arigidi to Oke-Agbe Road, as well as donating a 520KVA Transformer to Erusu Akoko and installing a 10,000-liter solar borehole in Ikaram Akoko.

Additionally, BTO generously contributed to the development of infrastructure, including Micro Finance Road, Ogbagi Akoko, Ese/Irun Road, Hon. About Road Ogbagi Akoko, Oyin Oge Road, Ajowa Central Mosque Road, and No.4 CAC Road, Irun Akoko, among other notable projects.

Notably, BTO’s dedication to community well-being is evident through his contribution of 20 motorcycles to the Amotekun Corps, the regional security network in Ondo State. This effort was aimed at enhancing state security and aligning with government initiatives. In a similar vein, Tunji-Ojo previously donated four vehicles to the Nigerian Police Force in the region.

He has also committed to promoting education in Akoko North East/North West, demonstrating this through his donation of educational materials to public secondary schools and the facilitation of modern classroom construction. BTO has provided scholarships to fatherless undergraduates in Ajowa, and he continues to support students by covering school fees and distributing free JAMB forms.

Approximately 6000 youths have received skill empowerment, and an additional skill acquisition centre has been approved for Ogbagi Akoko. During the COVID-19 pandemic, BTO provided essential food items to all communities in his constituency.

Healthcare has also benefitted from his efforts, as he donated 14 ambulances to health centres for prompt medical response. Public hospitals received advanced health equipment through BTO’s contributions.

Recognizing the significance of traditional institutions, BTO donated two 18-seater buses to each local government’s council of traditional rulers as a gesture of appreciation.

BTO’s influence extended beyond his constituency, aiding in the rehabilitation of roads in Akungba, the host of Adekunle Ajasin University. His recent scholarship scheme worth N50 million will support indigent students in his constituency, benefiting around 1000 students.

He recently staked N50m to empower market women in his Constituency, an initiative that has attracted applauds from the nooks and crannies of Ondo.

As he continued to endear himself to the public, Tunji-Ojo was picked by President Bola Ahmed as Minister. Perhaps the President got the wind of the developmental strides of the Ondo-born achiever doing what others couldn’t do.

His capacity has never been doubted on this new task as Minister of Interior, because BTO has the gravitas of a deep thinker.

He is going to throw up surprise as usual, a reason why the incredibly complicated machinations to politically assasinate him on the sponsored NYSC saga inevitably failed.

Bunmi-Tunji-Ojo is going to do it again
